We love it here!
Tricia O.

We love coming here for tea tastings, knowledge and a great weekend activity to take visitors! It's ideally situated on Grant street and has every type of tea you could want! I used to live in Shanghai and this experience is very similar to the tastings I did when I lived there. The variety of tea options is tough to find, so we love coming here. 10/10 recommend for a fun weekend activity!

Tucked into Grant Ave, Vital Tea Leaf is a great tea tasting spot in Chinatown. The space is lined with tins with loose tea leaves, tea sets, the walls with bright colors. We sat down for a free tea tasting! They provide a clear background of each tea sample, you can ask questions. They were really nice! These are unique loose leaf teas so they are expensive. I wanted to bring my parents so this was almost a test visit. I appreciate how they didn't push hard to buy the tea, and they were genuinely excited to share their tea knowledge during the tasting. We had about 5 samples. I had such a great time! I'm not a big tea person, but it was exciting trying very different teas I haven't tried before. I will love to bring tea fans here for a tasting and they would probably pick up some for home too!

May and Uncle were wonderful! Funny and informative. The tea was really good. We tried a bunch of different ones. Loved the experience.

walked in on sunday afternoon for their tea tasting and the experience did not disappoint! our host was super chill and knowledgeable too, we got to try a bunch of oolong, green, jasmine, and white tea types. faves were lychee black, black pearl oolong, and hojicha. located in chinatownc ambiance is very chill with a row of seats.

Bye i tried practicing my mandarin to the store owner and she said "i only know canto" OTL i came in super awkwardly, browsed for the teas i wanted to try, and then asked the nice lady if i could sample! the whole process is really enjoyable. the smell and warmth of tea is unbeatable (esp. in sf when it's always cold). i got a lot of souvenirs for my friends and im really happy with my purchase. I love the silver needle tea the most! there's a bunch of teapots at the end of the store! in case you wanted to walk away with the Whole Experience haha. I love it here i'm bringing my family when i'm back in sf thank you for a great afternoon :)

UNCLE GEE IS A G. MY GOAT. MY KING. 95 with baby smooth skin and "sexy like hell." I want to gatekeep this place but I also want uncle gee to have extreme success so that's why I'm reviewing this place. I was entertained and educated on tea. Great tea, great time. Stop by and tell him I sent you.

3 stop on the SF food walking tour! VERY great customer service she greeted our group immediately when we got here. All sat down and she started making tea for us to taste. Tea lines the walls on all sides, gives it a great vibe for a tea shop! I picked up tea for my husbands "fatty liver"

They have some spices, not just tea! Tibetan saffron

- free, extensive tea tasting - exceptionally friendly and chatty services - high quality teas Ask and you shall receive! Anything you want to sample, they'll make for you--seemingly no matter the cost. We were served at least ten samples while we were there, if not more. Their selection is huge, the staff is lovely and knowledgeable. Recommend!

A very fun experience!! My fiancé and I popped in here on a rainy day after seeing it mentioned a couple times on tik tok, every tea is delicious!! They let you try quite a few various teas and tell you their properties and more information about the teas, including what it's good for as well! Uncle is also a very funny man!! It was a very welcoming environment!! It was such a great experience that we brought my cousin and his girlfriend the next day when they came up to visit!

Soooo many types of tea, herb, and flower leaves!

The interior is really spacious - there are a variety of table sizes that can easily accommodate one person or a large party. Despite them having a steady flow of people we barely had to wait to place our order & everything came out very promptly. We decided to stay for the World Cup game & got a couple bites & Brahma beers that we really enjoyed.

DO NOT PAY FOR DELIVERY…read more We paid extra to have our order delivered to our hotel and used the restaurant's order-ahead option. We scheduled the delivery for 9:20 a.m., but by 8:40 a.m. the app showed it had already been delivered. The problem? There was no food at our hotel room. I tried contacting the delivery driver by text, but never received a response. It was incredibly frustrating, especially after leaving a generous tip. We later found out the driver had left the food at the hotel but never told the front desk which room it was for, even though they had all of the delivery information. As a result, our food just sat there until we eventually had to go down and get it ourselves. In the end, I paid for a delivery service that I never actually received. Instead of enjoying the convenience we paid for, we had to track down our own order. Based on this experience, I would not recommend paying for delivery. If you're ordering from this restaurant, save your money and pick it up yourself. I paid for a service, but I did not receive what I paid for. Then to make it worse the breakfast sandwich was just OK. Nothing to write home to mom about. To say the least we will not be ordering her again and would not recommend this restaurant.

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Both locations have limited seating, though the Nob Hill location does offer a small outdoor high-top table where you can stand and enjoy your coffee. Every location I've visited has also had a line, but honestly, the service is so efficient that the wait never feels too bad. When you walk in, the ordering process is somewhat similar to Philz. You place your order with the barista who starts your drink, it gets passed down the line for preparation, and you pay at the register at the end. While you're there, you can also decide whether you'd like to grab a sweet treat to go along with your daily dose of caffeine. The coffee here is strong and bold without being bitter. Everything I've tried has been incredibly smooth. While my most recent visit was for one of their coffee flights--something I'd been wanting to try for a while--I usually stick to their cocoa cappuccino, which is small but mighty and finished with a sprinkle of cocoa, or simply a classic drip coffee. If you're looking for elaborate latte flavors and seasonal creations, this probably isn't the spot for you. But if you want a coffee that will truly wake you up and you enjoy exploring the natural flavor profiles of coffee beans, Coffee Movement is absolutely worth checking out.

It's good...just different (it may be too strong for those that are used to the powdered or syrupy chai lattes from the chain coffee shops). I usually love cardamom, but this one seemed just a little too bitter for me - like it was brewed too long. I wish I had tried the dessert items because they looked delicious!
