I know this was a highly rated boba place and my sister even spoke good things of it, and I had high hopes for it... but in the end it fell short. The line was long, waited about 10 minutes for the ordering system, because it's by machine now. Then waited another 15 minutes for the drinks. There were a bunch of teeny boppers in front of me ordering drinks (6-8ish), so it took a bit. I ordered a house milk tea with 25% sugar. Honestly it just tasted like ash. No creamy tasting like other boba places. Not sure what their house cream was but it wasn't creamy or rich in flavor. Big disappointment. My husband got the crème brulee milk tea and that tasted even worst. It just tasted like bitter burnt pudding. Some sweetness once you get pass the pudding. Not sure who made the drinks but it was not good. The boba however was nice and soft. Not sure if it's the day or the rush of hella orders, but I normally judge a boba place by their basic milk tea and that day it was not good. And maybe that's not what to order? Not sure. But willing to try again on another time.
Obsessed! Discovered Urban Ritual two days ago, been here twice back to back. The quality of ingredients, the option of no ice, the level of sweetness (when not adjustable), diversity of drink options, prices and the staff are all AMAZING! The young lady who has assisted my orders both days is so sweet and friendly. She prepared my drinks both days, she's amazing and so were our drinks. The store interior is not large yet spacious and clean. There is no where to enjoy outside in front of the store. There is a grassy/parking area nearby (2 min walk). From Civic Center Bart it is a 15-20 minute walk, depending on your pace. There is online ordering available as well as self service kiosks in store. Definitely worth a visit and revisit. I know I'll be back!

Delish! -Black Sesame Rice Ball drink (ordered this one as a hot drink and it was so good, like drinkable mochi) I love that they offer both hot and cold versions of most drinks, which is great because I still enjoy their yummy milk tea drinks in the winter without getting cold. No bathrooms. You order from a touchpad. Completely digital -- no cash payment accepted.
One of my favorite boba spots! I've been loyal to Urban Tea Ritual since 2019 and back when they had their first location in SF. I fell in love with their creative, artisanal drinks right away. The store itself was clean and welcoming. My favorites are the Crème Brûlée Milk Tea and Matcha Toffee. They're both signature drinks and the matcha and toffee balance each other so well. The toffee does get stuck in your teeth, but it adds a nice crunch to your drink. I recommend getting their drinks in either oat or macadamia milk! Their honey boba was fresh with the perfect texture. I don't recommend driving here unless you're okay with parking a few blocks away. I prefer this location over San Jose because their drinks are more consistent. Nowadays, you can order through the self-serve kiosk. Their seasonal drinks are definitely worth trying! There was a Pandan Strawberry Corn milk drink that was pretty refreshing :)
Omg, why did Urban Ritual close their San Jose location?! I was so bummed -- the next closest one is in SF. But honestly, it's still worth it because I LOVE Urban Ritual. I got the mango sticky rice this time -- subtly sweet, tangy, and super refreshing. I added boba because... why not, and lowkey regretted it, but it was still fine. No real notes on service since we used the kiosk and just grabbed our drinks from the counter. Other than that, it's still my favorite place to grab a drink. Can't wait to come back!
Matcha toffee with no sweet, honey boba, extra matcha: drinks are on the sweeter side with the toffee, and there is a charge for extra matcha but it is totally worth it. Boba is one of the best with a chewy texture. It can be hard to get all the crunchy toffee bits with the straw. Ordering is on a kiosk if you go in person. There is online ordering and staff always has it ready during. If you're indecisive, there are photos and descriptions of their drinks. parking can be difficult to find as it is on a busy street and neighborhood. Most of the tables are for 2 with window seating for a larger group, there are no bathrooms here
Came in this place and tried their Boba dessert which was 10 out of 10 #amazing creamy custard mixed with Boba at the bottom topped with a crème brûlée top. Also tried one of their drinks that was corn inspired, which I really loved Also had a crème brûlée Boba drink which was horrible It had zero flavor tasted like water. Hopefully they add some more drinks to their menu because I would love to try more from this place. I know I will be back for that Boba dessert though.
I made a point to stop by this location last weekend because I really wanted to try it when I was in San Jose last month but when I arrived the shop had been closed. The menu looks amazing and I wanted to try some of their cool options so I came to this location instead. I sampled the Hong Kong milk tea and the hojicha and cream. The Hong Kong milk tea was nice with a strong flavor but slightly more bitter than I'm used to and the hojicha's and cream was a very unique and flavorful drink, unfortunately, the hojicha flavor gets really lost under the other heavy cookie and cream flavors. It was still good but I love hojicha so I will probably grab something more straightforward next time. The shop is really cute and the prices are reasonable. The inside is clean and there are spots to sit and enjoy your drink. Parking can get really crazy here, but luckily we decided to pull through the alley to circle back and found a spot not too far from the doors. I will definitely be back here to try more of their unique offerings.
Ordered matcha toffee with oat milk and boba (no added sugar) to go since I was craving a midday drink. Matcha is strong and paired well with the oat milk. I didn't need any added sugar since the boba was sweet and chewy, plus their homemade toffee was very sweet. Highly recommend this drink! It was really yummy!
Stopped by Urban Ritual for a quick, midday boba break and it was pretty good! I ordered online and was able to walk over & pick up my drink soon after. I opted to order a POG (less sweet with crystal boba) and it was not bad. The drink was sort of average. I liked the flavor and tartness of the drink, although I wish there was more boba, although they did include a moderate amount of toppings. Urban Ritual's menu has a good amount of drink options, including some seasonal specials. I was curious about trying out the creme brulee boba, but decided not to, thinking it might be too sweet. Pricing seems fair and on par with most boba spots in the area. The shop itself is nice and has some seating and seems like a nice place to hang out and catch up with a friend. There's street parking nearby. Although parking nearby would likely be a challenge, unless you're visiting during less busy or off-peak hours.
I was in the area and was looking for some milk tea. Urban Ritual had what I needed. It's a cool spot to get drinks and snacks. Parking is a challenge and I was lucky to find a spot in the alley in the back. I placed an online order for pick up and the employee had my drink ready for me when I got there. Super fast service. I had a Hong Kong Milk Tea and it was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. Urban Ritual is a great place to grab a milk tea when you need it.
A local friend highly recommended the crème brûlée milk tea here. To make things even better, the parking gods were on my side and blessed me with a spot right around the corner, which meant I could enjoy my drink inside while giving my tired feet a much-needed break. I don't normally drink a lot of boba, but vacations are for treating yourself, right? The crème brûlée milk tea was basically dessert in a cup. You could actually taste and chew on little bits of torched caramelized sugar throughout the drink. The boba itself was perfectly cooked, soft and chewy. And then there was pudding in there too! Every sip had me going "ooh" and "ahh" as I discovered another delicious texture. The only downside was that the drink only comes in one size, and it was a bit too much for me. I was genuinely sad that I couldn't finish it. That's one of the reasons I don't order boba very often. I can eat way more food than I can drink liquid for some reason. But I'd happily return to Urban Ritual to work my way through more of their milk tea menu the next time I'm in San Francisco. read more

This location is in Hayes Valley and this time, I decided to order the Hong Kong Milk Tea with honey boba. I enjoyed the drink and the honey boba was tasty as well. I keep coming back to Urban Ritual! Great boba spot with creative flavors, combining mi. I love their Feed me Ube because the ube chunks are thick and creamy, creme brulee milk tea is super creative. Pearls have a great texture. Free wifi and comfy seating so it's a great place to relax for a bit, but it can get crowded and slightly noisy. read more
Stumbled upon Urban Ritual while out on a walk today! With Boba guys gone from the area, it's nice to find another boba spot here. Ordered the Chrysanthemum tea, no toppings and less sweet and it was a cool, refreshing drink. I have not seen too many places offer iced Chrysanthemum tea outside of Thailand or asia countries so this was a neat find! read more
Boba is soft and fresh. Plenty of seating. Little to no customer service. You do your ordering at a kiosk, so when it asks for a tip, you wonder who/what you're tipping for. I ordered a lychee grapefruit drink that was so tart (like straight grapefruit) and not drinkable but I couldn't tell anyone, as no one was at the register. I just paid for another drink. Wasn't a huge fan. Got the Hong Kong milk tea with the sweetness toned down to try and get some of the tea notes. Unfortunately the drink was not very creamy and also did not have much tea flavor. There was instead a random chocolatey flavor which I did not like at all. I would not come back here again unless they retooled the recipe. For some reason, also felt like they added a Celsius-sized dose of caffeine or something. It kept me up for quite some time later that night and I felt very tired and uncomfortable the next day. Don't know how it managed to get a 4.4 with over 1k+ reviews. read more
I've been here about four times already, and it's hands-down my favorite bubble tea spot in San Francisco. The Honey Boba topping is an absolute must--seriously, don't skip it! Their pearls are perfectly chewy and, in my opinion, the best in town. The shop is always buzzing with energy, which just adds to the vibe. If you're ever unsure what to order, go for the Hong Kong Milk Tea--you can't go wrong. On days when I want something light and refreshing, the Lychee IPA is my go-to. And if I'm in the mood to switch things up, their seasonal refreshers never disappoint. If only they stayed open a little later, I'd probably find myself here even more often. read more
First time trying Urban Ritual, and was pleasantly impressed. My sister wanted to try their toffee matcha and I just wanted a light, refreshing drink. You walk in order at the kiosk. I ordered online, and our drinks were ready for pickup in less than five minutes. I really liked the Lychee IPA. It was a sparkling, lightly sweet drink. Great boba spot - variety of teas and fruit options as well! There are also togo pouches available I opted for the lychee IPA which was a good non caffeinated option. It was not too sweet and good lychee flavor with pulp from can. Boba consistency is nice and chewy! read more

First timer! The focus on the tea is a priority and my boba had a good consistent chew. It was a revolving door with how many people came through while I was waiting for my drink. Parking is tough and on a busy street so have someone drop you off if possible and have them do a loop around. read more

Urban ritual has always been one of my top fav boba spots in the bay! Their drinks are always so good with very unique flavors. I love their crème brûlée milk tea as well as their matcha toffee. Their seasonal drinks are always so fun and can never go wrong with any drink on their menu. Always recommended to friends and family from out of town! read more
My sister who went to Berkeley like 4 years ago said this was her favorite boba/drink place (AT THE TIME). It's still very good and the drinks are all more unique than most places. Though, they haven't kept up with the times, especially when the boba game is ever-evolving.. That's me saying I've had better, but in this particular area of CA, I think they're great! (aka come to the SGV for boba) There's seating inside and wifi to work as well, and I'd come back again if I was in the area and knew where to get something reliably good! read more

Stopped by Urban Ritual while in San Francisco and absolutely loved it. They have such a wide variety of boba flavors, which made it hard to choose in the best way. Everything feels creative and well thought out, not just your typical menu. The service was great, and the drinks came out really quickly, which I appreciated. Also, the atmosphere inside is super cozy. It's the kind of place you actually want to hang out in for a bit instead of just grabbing your drink and leaving. Would definitely come back next time I'm in SF. read more
Really enjoy their drinks and variety! I ordered the toffee matcha latte with macadamia nut milk (yum)! Macadamia milk isn't a typical milk substitution offered at many places so I'm glad this is an option here because this addition made the latte super creamy. I loved the little toffee pieces because I usually order a 30% sweetness for my matcha latte's and the toffee pieces add a nice sweet crunch to the drink :) Service was relatively quick and the cafe was very clean. The creme brulee drink was pretty good, did taste like creme brulee for sure. I liked the caramel and pudding, though I would've liked more pudding. It was prepared pretty fast though the store wasn't crowded when I went. Self order is convenient; I liked that there is a caffeine free section. But the counter wasn't attended to so I can't highlight any good service. I also almost forgot to grab a straw when I left since they didn't hand you one. There were a few small tables around, pretty roomy. I liked the sign outside. read more
Not your typical boba place. Interesting items on the menu I'd love to try next time. Went with the classic milk tea with chewy and crystal boba and it was delicious! First off, kudos to the staff for effortlessly handling the orders of the gaggle of schoolchildren and their parents that came in on a Saturday evening right after I got my drink. There must have been 20 orders in that one group that were barely audible amongst the continuous chatter of 10-year-olds. It's been years since my last visit to Urban Ritual. The most recent one prior to this review was back during peak COVID when we got to-go jasmine milk teas at the door. Finally got the chance to study in their fairly standard boba shop interior, housing an order kiosk and a handful of tables and chairs. Ordering was quick and easy, as was the wait for my drink. Strawberry Pandan Corn Milk: many places will self-sweeten both their pandan and corn milk, but Urban Ritual opts to leave that job to the strawberry puree. I'm not the biggest fan of always mixing my drinks, preferring to sip them in their separate layers for a while, but with this drink the pandan and corn milk weren't quite drinkable on their own (the former a little too medicinal, the latter a bit thin and bitter). Although mixing helped, I couldn't help but feel that the strawberry flavor was very overwhelming and lost the more delicate flavors of the top two layers. I'll come back for a tea-based drink. I had heard so many good things about Urban Ritual and enjoyed the Mango Sticky Rice drink at their DTSJ location, so I was extra disappointed when my Creme Brulee Milk Tea just fell super flat. Not sure if my drink was just messed up, but I ordered it 70% sweet and the milk tea portion of the drink was not sweetened AT ALL. The drink ended up super unbalanced because I'd get sweet tapioca, sweet custard, sweet torched sugar (all delicious), and then have it washed down with bitter milk. The tea wasn't even fragrant enough to flavor the milk and only its bitter notes came through. Overall: toppings were good but tea itself wasn't sweetened at all and only tasted bitter :// read more
My favorite drink here is the Matcha Toffee: matcha green tea with classic milk and bite-sized housemade toffee brittle. The toffee brittle adds a bit of a caramel buttery crunch; it really goes well with the matcha. The downside is that the toffee brittle sometimes clumps up even when I drink it within 5-10 minutes of purchasing, so I need to use my straw to break it apart. The Urban Ritual app is convenient to use. They usually finish making the drinks faster than the estimated time stated on the app. The app also has an award system; for every 190 points, you get a free drink (up to $7.25) and if you have more than one drink in the order it will subtract the highest cost drink that is $7.25 or less. read more

At the recommended sweetness levels, the Boba Guys Thai Tea is sweeter and a little less floral. They offer one cup size for iced drinks, about 20 oz (in between a regular and large size for other boba places).
