This shop doesn't exist in Chicago anymore! Took an Uber and couldn't find it, called the number and turns out it's in Florida now.

I ordered a pair of shoes online from Vitalia and had a frustrating experience with the return process.. In the end, however, the owner made the best of it. I needed to return the shoes, so I shipped them back using FedEx. However, FedEx attempted delivery three times but couldn't deliver the package to the store. The package was in the process of being returned to me when FedEx lost it. Once it was found and returned to Vitalia, the store said they needed to file a damage claim with FedEx. The entire process took months and required active engagement but I was finally issued a refund. read more

I am visiting my daughter who lives off Clark St.-just a few blocks from V-Italia shoes. My first day here I walked over 23,000 steps and got blisters. I went to V-Italia knowing that it looked like a place where I would get a good referral for appropriate shoes while I am walking around Chicago. I bought a pair of sandals from V-Italia that I have now worn for 3 days and they are comfy. I am still walking 10-20,000 steps every day, but I am not getting blisters from these new sandals. I would absolutely refer this store to anyone who wants a QUALITY pair of shoes at a very fair price. read more

These are high priced, no-name shoes and we learned the hard way that they are of questionable quality. My shoes looked good in the store but fell apart within a month of purchase. And beware the return policy because there apparently isn't one - only in-store credit according to the store owner. We had to dispute the charge on our credit card to get our money back, which was a cumbersome process in itself. We came close to being out several hundred dollars. Know what you're buying. I've walked by this place many times and finally popped in the other day. The owner was welcoming and engaging - I can see why he has so many repeat costumers. When he found out it was my first time in, he offered me a lower price on the shoes I was eyeing, and after the transaction, threw a bottle of mink oil into my bag at no extra charge. Nice touch. This place is the shit. Don't listen to what other people say. I've been coming here for years and again and again the shoes are ALWAYS up to quality and reasonably priced. They last long, look good and feel even better. They do have a return policy (unlike what other reviews have said) and if you pay in cash you get 10% off! The store owner is always helpful and so are the other workers, they know what they are talking about and always do their best to help me. I've gotten shoes from boots to sandals and I love them all. I still have every pair I've bought which are still in GREAT CONDITION even after being worn for YEARS. Don;t listen to the shitty reviews. A colleague was wearing V Italia shoes and I just had to get some for myself. That's how I found V Italia. I ordered the Kiki boots online and they arrived quickly. Although I needed a different size, the exchange was easy to do and I just recently bought a second pair from them. Good service and great shoes. The leather and make is high quality. The shoe laces are a nice cotton, which I like because they stay tied, yet break easy also - I had to replace and wish I could have found a similar color in stock somewhere. It's not the same cookie cutter shoes you see in every other store and for the most part reasonably priced. I never ever do these reviews, but when something surprising great happens, I must say thank you to V-Italia! about a year ago I bought a pair of a funky red gold ankle boot at store in Spooner, WI when at a friend's cabin. Went to the same store who carries V-Italia a few weeks ago when at the cabin. The selection was small so at the cabin we went on-line and I ordered the fabulous duo-tone boot called halberrybrown SKU 4010. A great muted multi color brown, tan olive ankle boot. Yesterday I received the shipment and to my surprise there were the magical boots I ordered that I love AND....there was another box inside the big box with a pair of shoes my size too! The receipt had hand written PLUS FREE PAIR! There was not a promotion when I bought the boots...and now I have a FREE dark brown leather pair of shoes that also feel like butter on my feet. Shoes look sound and we had no trouble with quality, but we too were burned by this store's crazy NO RETURNS policy. I bought my wife a pair of shoes and when we tried to return them guess what? Store credit only. That was VERY frustrating because the shop is so small. The guy in charge was no help at all and a bit rude. We ended up having to buy a pair of boots that she really didn't need and I basically ate about $200. Unlimited returns are why we love Zappos. Time to get with the times guys. read more

Just purchased the most comfortable pair of boots ever. The quality of the leather seems pretty amazing to me. Time will tell, but I doubt these would ever "fall apart." Re: Bravo G.'s "high priced" comment, maybe he is used to $15 shoes from Payless. $90 for leather boots is a steal. It's hard to find boots under $150 these days even from DSW. As for Zappos, where are there affordable leather boots on that site? As for the return policy, it's a bit strict (what about buyer's remorse?) but if the shoes are worn and they will give store credit, that's actually pretty nice. read more

Vitalia Shoe Store has been the only place I've purchased shoes for numerous years not only because of absolute comfort, but styles and colors like no other shoe store in the city. The owner and his beautiful dog are welcoming and extremely friendly. In fact, the owner and I have been on a first name basis and he greets me with a warm hug. The approximate number of Vitalia shoes my sweetheart and I are still wearing from years of purchasing is at least 20 pairs. These beauties last forever. As for the review from Ashok, I sympathize with being stuck in an elevator. But come on, be real. Your situation had more to do with the building's management - not the owner of Vitalia. And contrary to Bravo G's experience, i've never had a problem with the quality, comfort or return policy. My daughters' live out of state and every time they come to visit V Italia is their first stop. I love the unique designs and that the owner/designer always remembers me and has been able to provide me with sexy, designer shoes that, despite my foot problems are wearable without pain. read more

The owner of this store is very rude and not willing to work with his customers!!! I purchased a pair of shoes as a gift and was not able to return them until after the 15 day exchange policy, which I was not informed of and honestly is a very short return policy to begin with. When I returned to the store to return the shoes, he refused to put the amount back on my credit card and would only offer a store credit. I informed him, numerous times, that this would be a completely useless credit to me as I will not be returning to the store for another purchase. He still continued to refuse to return the amount back onto my credit card and told me to come back a few days later so he could discuss this with his partner. When I returned to the store on the day he informed me to, I learned not only that he was still set in his ways to only offer a completely useless store credit to me, but also that he has lied about speaking with his partner as he is the sole owner of this establishment. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store and also plan to make sure I never recommend it to any potential new customers. read more

What a gem of a shoe store!!! I'm so glad my best friend recommended that I check out her favorite shoe store V Italia. They have an amazing selection of leather shoes for both men and women. I particularly loved the variety of women's boots. The leather looks and feels very high quality compared to leather I've seen at other shoe stores. The owner is wonderful to talk with and is very knowledgeable about inventory and selection. His dog is also very sweet and welcoming. We will definitely be back!! This is an unusual "review." But humor me. I go to one of the dentists next door to V Italia. Long story short: me, and a random claustrophobic female stranger, were trapped in the building's elevator for 30 minutes on July 9. The elevator's doors closed and would not move. It was a hot, humid day. No A/C. Did I tell you my new "friend" was claustrophobic? After waiting (yes fire and the engineer were called, in a classic sit-com situation), we hear the voice of a man. He appeared and used the elevator key to let us out. We thanked him and asked him a few questions. Yes. That's what trapped people in an elevator do, we're frustrated and thankful. But the man didn't care. With a surly glance, he looked at his and all he said was "I JUST DID YOU A FAVOR. I HAVE A SHOE STORE TO RUN." Apparently the building's engineer asked him to help out because he wasn't near the building. So the store owner was inconvenienced for a good 2 minutes in freeing us from the elevator. Pure class, knowing the shoe store shares a door with the office building. It's not like he's losing business. I thank him for the effort he displayed, but what a snotty diva! Reading this reviews and the stories of poor customer service, I am not at all surprised. I mean, he just did me a favor. You might find me trite, but I figure it's time for me to pay it forward. Bitter beer face man, I will not rec your store to my friends. I'm sure you don't care, because you didn't need the business anyway. But I will supply a certificate of appreciation for using that elevator key, a task a 2-year-old could accomplish, if need be. I'll even use Print Shop. read more
