This is an awesome spot for any Italian fan. This is a real throwback to an Italian specialty shop. They have a huge selection of meats and cheeses and tons of prepared foods. I got a standard Italian sandwich with ham, salami, and prosciutto, with a very nice mild but nutty provolone cheese and a Italian vinaigrette. I recently went back to try their stuffed breads which was amazing. It was gooing with melted cheese, fresh spinach and delicious chicken, Their prepared ravioli is also amazing. Vitamia is one of the better Italian markets in the north jersey. They sell a full line of homemade pastas and ravioli- fresh and frozen. I usually go with cheese ravioli... But as the previous reviewers stated they have many different varieties of fresh ravioli and pastas. The cheese ravioli are the best I have ever tasted. The also have prepared sauces which are excellent. They have a full line of cold cuts and some prepared foods. They carry several varieties of rice balls too. Hard to find rice balls in NNJ Next they have fresh semolina Italian bread made on the premises. The sausage bread is awesome. They also carry olives, fresh mozzarella, homemade stuffed breads and Italian cheeses. Now this, is a place to try. I walked in, smelled some heavenly food being cooked. Went here with family. The owner, Pauly, is a very nice guy and the rest of the staff too. So many good foods to choose from in here. We bought some octopus salad (which was very fresh and quite flavorful), bought a lot of raviolis (they were epic), and some sausage bread, (really good), and brought it back to the place we have been staying for the vacation. All of it was excellent food. Some people must just be coming in at a bad time. Or perhaps there are some bots or trolls here. I have looked through the accounts of people who gave a rather suspicious 1-star review and some don't look legit. They look like that they made a few 1-star reviews for a few places, and then never used the account again. Great place, don't miss out. Don't let the bot/fake accounts throw you off. Ive spent over 100 dollars every time i go here. The food is all good, you cant go wrong, but it is pricey, sure i can get bread cheaper or sausage bread elsewhere, but the one stop shopping makes it worth the trip. They are Lodi boys and we all support our family businesses. What can I say about this place besides that I am instantly transformed into a good mood when I think of eating any of their products or making the sojourn from Brooklyn to the store to get the full vitamia experience. I have been going to this store since I was 3 years old. And though there have been some changes like a website www.pastaboy.com and the fact that they now ship the goods, the store really is exactly the same. When you walk into this store, you are transformed to another time and place. The majority of people are all speaking italian and are picking up food for dinner that night. Everything in the store is unbelievablly amazing. My favorite are the cheese raviolis, just thinking about them makes my mouth water. The soups and sauces are also amazing. All of the fresh pasta, tortellini, cavatelli and gnocchi are also delicious. I almost forgot to mention the bread. There is a sausage bread that is kickass. There are also stuffed breads that are always a crowd pleaser. I really cannot say enough good things about Vitamia and the family that has been providing me w/ the best Italian food for almost 30 years. My dad and I used to wake up do errands and make sure we got to Vitamia before noon because after 12 noon they likely already ran out. Because every good Italian did their Sunday dinner shopping on Saturday just to make sure everything was as fresh as possible. Their white paperboard-boxed fresh 12-count jumbo cheese ravioli, available in the deli area, is some of the best you will find available in a supermarket. The cheese filling is so fresh, creamy, FULL, and truly JUMBO. The pasta is equally top-notch - and holds the filling with ease - no poppin' ricotta on these! I am surprised such a high-quality product is coming from a not-too-curb-attractive facility such as that pictured - but that goes to show you that looks aren't everything (but quality ingredients made in a clean facility is my main concern!)....Must imagine their raviolis are even fresher in the store.... Decided to try the ravioli. It was amazing and mouthwatering. Stuffed with creamy ricotta cheese and fresh parsley. Take home fresh and freeze if not eating same day. There are different stuffed ravioli and other fresh pasta. Also tried the caponata. This is an Italian style eggplant appetizer. This was perfection. Loaded with eggplant, olives in a wonderful sweet red sauce. They also have cold cuts and amazing fresh baked breads. I recommend getting a loaf of bread to spread on the caponata. Vitamia is an absolute must when you're having a holiday occasion or even just Sunday sauce. I can't think of a Christmas Eve we haven't stood on the out-the-door line (and yes it is guaranteed to be out the door). Even if it's a regular Sunday their fresh manicotti paired with my mom's sauce ughhhh I can't think of anything better. The main word that comes to mind when thinking of Vitamia & Sons is FRESH. Every time we visit Vitamias $100 out of pocket. I'm surprised that none of the reviewers mentioned this place is such a big rip off. And what I don't like the most is the fact that there are no prices on anything and they never give you receipt. The other day we got some asparagus wrapped in chicken, there suppose to be prosciutto in there somewhere. The son was ringing us up he's asking father how much for asparagus? $7.99 guy punched that in, then father says oh no, this one is $11.99/lb, so the son punched it in. Did he remove the other one? Don't think so.Will I know, of course not because they don't give receipts. I just don't like to confront people so I kept my mouth shut :( Stuffed hot peppers $16.99/lb I looked it up when he was ringing it, that's crazy. It's same stuff sold everywhere, they don't make it there and even Whole Foods sells theirs for $10.99. I like their rice balls very much, meatballs are good, sausage bread can be greasy but it's good. Lasagna on the other hand was sour, yuck and the double charged asparagus, oh so not worth it.
