Vitense is pure awesome. From the fun and challenging mini golf courses to the arcade games and the extremely inexpensive driving range, this is a place for everyone. I tend to spend time at the driving range. Really nice space with comfy seating as well as heaters. A great activity for the fall or spring! They have loaner clubs too if you don't have your own! The only place they lose points is the batting cages, could use some attention. Regardless, this place is super fun and a great way to spend an afternoon or evening! read more

Planned a birthday party for my son and their Event Planmer Dani Lee was awesome to work with! She communicated with me a few days after I submitted my requesting regarding birthday party information.They have great prices for party packages! It was nice that they provided party decorations to avoid the headache of shopping for our ow. Dani and I communicated every day for a good 2 weeks in planning my son's birthday party and if there was an issue Dani was great in letting me be aware of the situation right away. I really appreciated all her help! Heather, our party caddie, did an amazing job! With this being our first time, she helped provide recommendations for what activities to begin and incorporating a good eating time for the kids to enjoy mini golfing at the end. She helped serve food and drinks, too. She was great at engaging with the kids! For each activity she discussed the safety measures and she made sure the kids followed them. With her help the party was a major success! This was one of the best things I ever done in planning a birthday party for my son! read more

Went to Vitense tonight - our kids played mini-golf while we ate dinner. First, we ordered nacho's for $12.95 and a burger for $11.99. They charged us $32 and then were completely confused why we questioned the total. Then they said, "fine" and handed us $3. We just left it b/c they were very difficult to interact with. They walked away while we were asking about the total, for example. Then, the food came. The burger and 'fries' were cold. The nacho's were cold and the chips didn't even crack. I tried to eat them, but there was a brown sauce all over them and I had a few bites that tasted very peculiar. One, like an ice cream cone for example. I went in to tell them it wasn't edible and they said exactly this, "They aren't?" Ok. So I went to the front desk and asked them to get a manager. The manager came and I told them the same thing and he answered, exactly, "Ok." I said, "I am trying to tell you, it wasn't ok." To which he said "Ok" again. I just kind of stared at him for a bit and he finally added, "I'll talk to the kitchen." Isn't it in the basic handbook of customer service to apologize when there is a mistake? Not here. Terrible food. Over-priced AND over-charged. And staff are completely indifferent and uninterested in customer service. The rest of the place is pretty old, broken and dirty and overall low-level service. read more

If you're looking for miniature golf in the Madison area, this is THE place. Courses are well-themed (if not always sensical), well-lit, and there's even an indoor course because it's Wisconsin. The 9-hole par 3 course is just the perfect amount of golf for someone like me, a person with less money and time than lawyers (or whoever populates country clubs). Bring your own stick for the batting cages, though. The stock bats will give you a sting. read more

Fun place. Got the kids each the "High 5" deal so they could do 5 activities each. They enjoyed the water balloons and the trampoline basketball thing so much, they did both of those activities twice each, and then a round of mini golf each. The mini golf is neat, with activities right in the course itself (slides, etc). Definitely a fun place for indoor and outdoor fun. read more

I can only base my review on two areas of this place: mini golf and ice cream. Take two non-golfers and two small children that have never golfed and have them practice putting with obstacles in the way. By the second hole I thought we'd be done for it as one of my kids was tossing her ball in the water hazards and the other hit the air more than the ball. And besides a one-time lucky hole in one and a couple "two"s my husband and I just picked up our balls to move once the next hole was open. There's fortunately a 6 ball maximum to each hole as we followed a group of six. I loved the slides, bouncy seats and other fun kid toys sprinkled along the sets as it helped motivate my non-professionals along. Since we decided score taking would be quite depressing we ignored that aspect and bribed my kids out with a stop at the food shop (insert ice cream review). It was only about $2 for the junior scoop of real ice cream and that was a cone big enough to satisfy my ice cream monster and in flavors such as Superman and Cotton Candy Twist, go for it. I paid the same amount for a vending machine bottle of Diet Mountain Dew that ended up being one of the kid's favorite part of the visit. In other words: I do recommend this place even if you forget how to hold a golf club at times or if you can spin a hole in one through the windmill. I can think of plenty of worse ways to spend my money and shuffle kids along. read more

Having grown up in Madison, I am very familiar with Vitense Golfland. But to be honest, I only come here for the mini golf. They have three different courses: one inside and two outside. I have done all three but I prefer the outside courses for the challenge and the fresh air. I will get into the other activities after I write about mini golf. On my last visit, it was a rainy week in May. It was a bit cool and overcast on the night we played. We played the Wisconsin course. But because it was damp all week, some of the greens were very water logged. Not enough to deter us. but there were water hazards were there normally not. I recommend wearing real shoes on rainy nights so you don't get swishy toes. Fun was had by all. read more

The best reason to come here is the bartender--she's the best!! Super friendly and makes good drinks while providing good conversation if you want it. This place is fun to come and have a few drinks with friends while you regress and play mini golf. The not-so-fun part is how crowded it is. It's more fun later, when there aren't so many kids (yes, I admit it -- I'm a total scrooge LOL). I get a little stressed out feeling like I have to rush for the people behind me. This isn't Vitense's fault. There are just so many people. Every time I've gone to the batting cages, there's been an issue. One could put their money (well, tokens) in, and none of the balls would came out. The machines just kept whiffing. On one occasion, the teenage "attendant" sat there on her phone ignoring the machines. On another occasion, the attendant was much more, well, attentive. Still, it's just not as much fun when things don't work right away. The part I DO really like is the driving range in the winter. There are way fewer people there, and you can have a lot of fun with a group of pals. When you're done, head back up to the bar area to enjoy some drinks and fried food. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Parking is ample. Know what you like, what you're looking for, and plan accordingly. If wild kids stress you out, don't go during the day. :) read more

First time coming back after about 14 years and it's a whole different kind of fun as an adult! If you don't feel like doing some intense outdoor workout but want to enjoy the weather and be social, mini golfing is perfect. Our rule is always, loser buys ice cream. I didn't explore most of the building because we wanted to get golfing but the remodeling for the building area looked great. They've also added a nice indoor arcade. I haven't golfed in the golf range as an adult but it seems nice. I saw a sign that said there are 'bucket and breakfast' deals which looked like a fun and good deal. Vitense is a fun spot to spend a few hours, no matter your age. There's plenty to do although I've never strayed from the outdoor mini golf courses. Those courses are challenging enough to keep you interested but easy enough for kids to enjoy. Super fun place for friends or a loved one! We did mini-golf and some basketball trampoline game however, they also offer a driving range and arcade area. They have a great ice cream place too. My only complaint sits with their staffing and service. They're severely under staffed and it shows. Staff are stressed, a tad rude, and the drinks weren't good because they were using a cashier as a bartender because of staffing issues. Once they correct that, I'm sure it'd be awesome again. I am an avid miniature golf fan and I sincerely appreciate the best of the best courses in the country. There was a lot of hype surrounding the Vitense Golfland, and the course certainly did not disappoint. The Vitense consisted of three miniature golf courses: two outdoor (a Wisconsin themed course and a Californian themed course) as well as an indoor Madison themed course. I played all three and the Californian course was by far my favorite. The Californian course had a lot of bells and whistles, and lots of water; but overall had a more fun, and upbeat atmosphere. The Wisconsin course was just overall difficult, and wasn't as fun as the Californian. Of course, it had all of the playground essentials, but only one hole really stood out which was the Miller Park hole (hole #13) which was all baseball themed, accompanied with Bernie (the mascot of the Brewers)'s golden slide. The Lambeau Field hole (hole #10) was pretty disappointing and kinda lame (just an oval with two lame goal posts as obstructions). The Madison indoor course was alright. Sure, it had the playground essentials, but the hills on the course were atrocious and extremely unforgiving. Also, two of the holes (holes #7 and #8) were glow-in-the- dark holes and were very hard to see (to even see your putter) and thus my game was significantly affected. I played very poorly on the Madison course, so I may be biased in my overly negative comments. So overall, I had most fun on the Californian course, but if you're looking for a sincere challenge, the Wisconsin or Madison course is up your alley. The Vitense brought out my inner child faster than a doctor who would pump out a stomach of a child who ate a dollar in pennies on a dare. Not only was the miniature golf here devilishly complicated (the holes were lengthy, multi-obstacle adventures through a complex plastic zoo of brightly colored animals and foliage), but the course was wildly interactive. On many of the two-story-high holes, you didn't have to walk down the stairs - you could use a slide! That's one of the coolest things you can do with your butt! As a venue, the Vitense Golfland truly was the unholy hybrid of an elementary school playground and a miniature golf course. There were tunnels to crawl through, climbing walls to scale and all sorts of other playground essentials crammed into this 3-course venue. Plus, the river that flowed through the center of the venue was one of the riskiest water hazards I've ever seen (especially on the Californian course). And yes, the course was a little scuffed. And yes, there was some water damage. And yes, at times the course layout felt more cramped and crowded than the classrooms of an underfunded public school. Other complaints were that the type of putting surfaces changed frequently on the courses (old/new, darker/lighter, etc) and the holes had to be played slightly different. Also, good miniature golf courses should have a practice putting green (for miniature golf, there was an actual grass practice putting for the real golf at the Vitense Golfland) for the player can get acclimated with the speeds of the greens. But it was one of the most unique, interactive, and joyfully giddy courses I've ever visited. If miniature golf is supposed to make you feel like a child, the Vitense Golfland went one step further and just, literally, turned you into a child. It was great. The best course in Wisconsin. Easily the best miniature golf course I've been to. read more

It's winter. Cold, snowy, and bleak. Humbling. But wherever will you go for some birthday party antics? We headed to Vitense to check out their new indoor mini-golf. Each hole is designed around a Madison landmark with lots of little interactive do-dads. Requisite gaggle of kids running around and I stopped keeping score after about 10 minutes. Love this place! I cannot wait until it's warmer out to play their outdoor kiddie course. This would be the he perfect place for a birthday party for older kids. I would recommend having a party for the older kids with more coordination because it can be a bit difficult for the younger kids. They sell food here as well but I didn't have any food, I already had dinner before I got there. Anyway, bathrooms were really clean and the space is fairly large. We went mini golfing this morning and could not find one employee who was wearing a mask indoors. I understand not wearing one outside, but since customers have to enter indoors and pay indoors, it would be courteous for the employees who interact with them to wear a mask. If my 3 year old can wear a mask to protect the employees working there, then I would hope the employees could do the same for us. This was a bit disappointing since their website goes to great lengths to ensure the safety of their customers. read more

Woke up like it was the plot of the Hangover. Checked my golf bag and oh man I'm in trouble, I left half my clubs at Vitense. They just have to be there. Get to the front desk and sorry sir we haven't gotten your clubs at all. Then this super hero manager named Ryan drops in like Batman and absolutely solved everything. Food is great, place is fun, and the staff couldn't be better. I could spend a whole day at Vitense, I could spend two hours writing a positive review as well. 5/5 is an understatement. I had driven by Vitense Golf for years before we actually stopped in. Our first visit was actually a company outing. My team had performed well last year so we wanted to take an entire day to celebrate. I had no idea what it would be like, but took a chance that we would have fun at Vitense Golf - not to leave you in suspense we did! My first step was to call the group host and talk about options. He was super friendly and helpful, he started the experience off on the right foot. He even made an exception for us as I didn't call until like three days before hand. :) We bought a group package where my staff could choose from a variety of activities. It even came with a snack. Mini-golf, foot golf, water balloons, arcade, there was plenty to do and something for everyone. We all played a round of mini-golf together, then split up to have fun on our own. It was reasonably priced as well for a group our size. After we had such a fun day together, I returned later with my children. They had as much fun in the indoor mini-golf and arcade as my staff did. Overall, a huge hit for adults and children alike! read more

Fun mini golf course. Very interactive for the kids. Things to climb and slide down. Really keeps them interested in the game. We alao really enjoyed the remote control boats. Every once in awhile one would stop working but it was fun nonetheless. Blew some money on the little arcade area too. Good if you are looking to hang with the kids for awhile. We booked one of the bays/golf suites for 2 hours. This is the second time that we have done this and the second time that we have had really poor service. The staff is friendly, but everything is SO SLOW. We only had two hours that we had paid for already so we had to get our money's worth, yet we didn't get a drink for the first 45 minutes, the server screwed up the drinks BOTH times we were there, and the food was super average. Since COVID it seems like this place has gone downhill in service a lot and that's too bad. I like the venue, there is nothing terrible to complain about but it has pushed us away from coming back and booking one of those suites again. read more

The golf, arcade and driving range have been fun but myself and girlfriends family had a terrible experience with the food. First off it took around 30+ minutes for us to receive our food even tho we placed our order right as soon as the waitress came to grab out drink order. But when we did get our food, the chicken strips were under cooked where there was still pink in the middle. Didn't receive some of what we ordered and all the burgers we ordered medium were over cooked. Don't bash on the fun you can have with golfing and playing games but the food was definitely a turn off to Whole place. read more

The driving range is ok, it is accessible. I took a lesson with Mark Reif. He was the worst instructor I ever had. I switched to another instructor in different golf course and he's the best I ever tried. My recommendation: if you are just looking for a driving range to hit some balls this is a nice place but if you are looking to take a lesson to improve your swing, be more careful. I found a very nice instructor in Cherokee. read more

I am a college student and bussed and walked 30 minutes both ways to get to Vitense Golfland only to find that the batting cage was closed because it was understaffed. Nothing on their website indicated that it was closed, but it actually had said that the batting cage was open for the season starting two days ago. Personally, I think this is unacceptable behavior as a business. When a restaurant says we don't have one dish on the menu, it makes sense, but if your waiter tells you they have no food at all (the reason that you came to the restaurant) you would be understandably upset. read more

Food is extremely over-priced, and the mini golfing courses are in tatters. Most of the electronic functions didn't work, waterways were disgusting, and the "free game of golf" machine was also nonfunctional. Got cheated out of a free game of golf. I went down to Vitense for some late night indoor mini-golf and I had a great time! I have to say that this was one of the most fun mini-golf experiences I've had. The only downside is that it was really dead when we were in there, so there was no other people to interact with. read more

The mini-golf is my favorite, and does not get any better than Vitense. I've never been to a more fun mini course. I would, however, avoid the indoor mini courses on weekends, especially in the winter, due to the huge amounts of screaming children. I also use the driving range and can find a corner where no one is going to see me and my very novice swing. Although one of the pros did think I was pathetic enough to stop and give me some free pointers for about 10 minutes. Very nice of him. read more
