    Fajitas, Jalapeño poppers, and soup.

I don't usually write long Yelp reviews, but this place deserves one. I've been coming here for nearly 30 years. My first human food was eaten here when I was about six months old, and my mom and I still come every single week. Same booth. Same comfort. Same feeling when you walk in. This isn't flashy, rebranded, or chasing trends--and that's exactly why it matters. It's a true neighborhood Mexican restaurant, the kind that quietly serves generations and becomes part of your life without asking for attention. Over the years, I've tried most of the menu, and these are my consistent favorites: * Carne asada - classic, flavorful, always dependable * Chicken fajitas - sizzling, generous, and comforting * Chile verde burrito, enchilada style - absolute comfort food * Enchiladas & chile relleno - old-school in the best way * Jalapeño poppers / fried jalapeños-underrated and excellent * Tortilla soup - especially perfect on a cold Seattle day My mom always orders the house margarita, and I've been ordering Shirley Temples here for as long as I can remember--which feels fitting given how long this place has been part of our lives. I noticed the rating and was honestly surprised. If you're looking for a loud, Instagram-first dining experience, this may not be your spot. But if you value consistency, familiarity, comfort, and genuine community, this place delivers something that's becoming rare. Some restaurants chase trends. Others quietly serve their neighborhood for decades. This is the latter--and I hope it's here for decades more.

Absolutely love Viva. This little gem has been in Des Moines for over 2 decades. Its in a small building on busy Pacific Highway. Not as busy as it used to be. The food is delicious. Fresh veggies. My favorite dish is the Camarones Mojo De Ajo. No other restaurant has managed to get it just right. The shrimp are always clean and fresh. They make a mean White Russian and serve it in a huge glass. Another thing that I love about this place is that our server is the same server from atleast 20 years ago. The down side to this place is that there really isnt seating for large parties. Also, the vibe is kind of dated. Doesnt really have a hip modern feel to it. Which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 4.

My first time eating here. The parking lot was fairly full, right off Pacific Highway. Walked in, greeted and seated quickly. Chips, dip and water brought out very quickly and menus. Our server did not share any specials or offer any drink ideas. She did take our orders quickly and brought my beverage out promptly. Food was delivered in record time, my chicken enchilada was delicious and very filling. My daughter ordered two tamales and she was pleased with her meal. The server forgot one tamale as she ordered two but remembered as she brought it out that she wanted two. My husband ordered a beef burrito, he was satisfied with his meal as well. Ample food, great taste! Better than Azteca, cheaper and closer to where we live. Service was polite and quick. We will definitely be returning. They do appear to have daily specials that are posted at the table in case server forgets to mention them. Adios and happy eats

Better than Azteca, but that isn't saying much. The service is usually pretty good. It wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican fare.

Great salsa! Killer chicken chimichangas! Always good portions. I've been a fan for more than 20 years. I've never been disappointed

The is pretty good and the staff is nice. It is a good place to eat in at but their take out doesn't travel well and isn't packed very good.

Great food, great drinks! Eat here at least 3 times per week, I would go more, but I do have to have some self control!

Wait started probably around 6pm although there were still empty tables then. They provide garnishes for your water and also provide 4 salsas/accompaniments for your meal. I got the 16 oz ribeye served on hot stones. They cooked it slightly less than what you want, so for my medium rare, they cook it rare. It also comes with chimichurri and molacete(?) which has a more refreshing flavor. They season with rosemary and even light a branch on fire for more aroma. I tried a bite of my friend's filet mignon which was good, but my preferred cut is the ribeye or NY strip. We also shared the papa loca (worth it - so good) and the cauliflower (not as good, but I'm comparing it to a version made by Cuerno, a Mexican steakhouse in NY). I had a glass of the pinot noir and the garzon, and both were good, slightly tannic and 'juicy'.

The first time I got the Wagyu tacos which were sooo good and I love the variety and flavor of the sauces. I loved how simple the taco Wagyu is as the meat is high quality For my second visit I got the Vacio Wagyu which came in a sizzling hot stone plate and it stayed hot for me to cook all of my Wagyu. It didn't really need the accompanied sauce but it was nice to have. I felt the large rock salt was a little bit nub and would make it too saucey but I found the rosemary a perfect combination with the Wagyu especially as one was cooking underneath. Excellent service as well - our server was attentive and timely. I've only gone here for lunch and we did not have to make a reservation as it was not too busy!

The burrito is super fresh, incredibly flavorful, and huge. The second time I went, I asked my 7 year old son if he wanted one. I told him it was really good, but he initially said no. However, once he saw me eating it, he asked for a bite. I gave him a taste, and he immediately wanted to eat the rest of it! I honestly think about this burrito a lot (lol) and absolutely love it. If you're looking for a great breakfast burrito and you're in the Burien area, definitely give this spot a try. I've gone through the drive thru both times; it does take about 10 minutes for your order to be ready, but it is well worth the wait... even if you're in a bit of a rush.

What made it worse was how the food itself was handled. The crispy items were packed together with wet food, so by the time we opened everything, nothing was actually crispy anymore. It was soggy, messy, and just not appetizing. It felt like there was zero attention to detail, both in getting the order right and in how the food was packaged. When you're paying for food that's supposed to have texture and quality, that matters. Maybe this was just an off day, but based on this experience, I'd be hesitant to come back.
