The lady working there was super friendly, patient, and helpful, which made the experience even better. I ordered the carne asada taco and sopitos, and everything was delicious. The carne asada was seasoned perfectly full of flavor, and cooked just right. I also ordered a side of rice and refried beans, and they did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. You can really tell they care about the food and the customers. Great portions, great flavor, and great service. If you're craving authentic Mexican food, this spot is a must-try. Discovered Tacos Mexico in the area and they were super busy. A lot of the tables were taken but it seems like it was due to the lack of staff - there was one cashier and one cook. We ordered ahead and was quoted 25 minutes but ended up being about 45 minutes so just be prepared. I ordered a variety of items and there were all pretty good. I liked how their tortillas were homemade and you could really taste it. The carnitas were good although there were a few big pieces of fat. The al pastor was flavorful but a little too cooked and slightly dry. Overall, Tacos Mexico was good and I would come back for the plates/entrees. read more

The staff was very friendly and made great suggestions when I asked what their favorites are. I enjoyed all the food & appreciated the air conditioning when it was in the upper 80's. I have been looking for a replacent to my favorite taco truck in White Center, now that I mived to Des Moines, and this place is the best so far. Festive, casual restaurant, clean, friendly and the food was very tasty. I got the Carnitas, it came with 5 hand-made corn tortillas, there was a good amount of crispy pork, beans topped with cheese and fluffy rice with a small salad with pico de gallo. It's been a challenge finding authentic, good quality mexican food after moving from California 3 years ago. I'm so glad this place exist and that I'm not a far drive away. They have a large sign outside so it'll be hard to miss them with plenty of parking for you. A lady usually takes the order while the man cooks the delicious food. And they make a great team, providing amazing customer service. They provide a salsa bar including pickled veggies you can grab yourself. I love places that have these. At the front you'll see all their flavored horchatas that you can pour yourself after paying. This place is my boyfriend and I's usual place if we want Mexican food. We usually order a carne asada torta with everything on it, and a burrito with no beans. The tortilla is thin, soft and fresh. Probably on the list of one of the best. We also order chips and salsa as a side and it is *chef's kiss*. The chips are fried fresh and the salsa is chunky, juicy and right amount of spice. They could even go spicier. I really wanted to give them a 5 star review. The burrito was hot and full. All the textures and flavors were on point. They were super friendly. The asada had 4 sizable hunks of grissel that were impossible to chew. I may give them a second try because it's possible it's a one off but they definitely need a bit more quality control on the meat because the flavor and textures were there but the added nuisance of the grissel was off putting. read more

I've been here twice now and well the carne asada was flavorful but a little too thin but it was a decent portion. Then I came back a second time my husband had quesadillas with steak they were full of meat and cheese. My meal was 18$ for two small chicken enchiladas, which did not really have that much inside of them they definitely weren't worth 18$. The food was pretty good here. The chips and salsa were delicious - it comes with a separate salsa, but you can also choose the self-serve salsa station. They have a delicious, creamy greenish salsa that has a little heat. I ordered the wet veggie burrito. The burrito itself was really yummy. I didn't care for the sauce too much, it was more of a tomato-y sauce than I expected, but that's on me for not knowing what I was getting. Highly recommend this place, and I plan to go back! Tacos Mexico is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic at a great price! I guarantee, if you like authentic Mexican food, you will fall in love with this little spot! The burrito price in comparable to Chipotle or Qdoba, but the quality and authenticity is vastly superior; comparable in size too! If it's a cold day, try their tortilla soup; it's one of the best I've ever had. If you are hung over, their menudo is spicy and will clear your head! When you have all 5 star reviews, you are setting the table for a life changing experience. I can tell you that my experience was not good. I found the food to be mediocre and nowhere near as good as San Juan taco's that is basically a mile away. I came here to try the Tortilla Soup. Unfortunately, none of the yelp photos appears to show the soup. When I got there, the menu board had a photo, but the soup looked red like it was tomato based and I like my Tortilla Soup to be a rich broth with grilled chicken, tortilla strips, avocado and cilantro. This forced me to pivot. They had a 3 taco special with rice and beans for $9. That was a hard deal to pass up, but unfortunately, you could only choose from Chicken and another meat. No carnitas, chorizo, steak etc. When the plate came, I could see why it was $9. The plate was not as large a a true dinner plate and the taco's were smaller than street taco's I'm used to. The final straw was the flavor, I used the word mediocre, but the definition is low average and that is a fitting description. Maybe the other meats are better, maybe the other items are better, and if everything had been 5 Star, then this would be a different review. I wasn't at all happy with what I got and when I consider I drove out of my way to get here, it was just a waste of time and money. The people couldn't have been nicer and short of one table that needed to be cleaned, the place was very tidy. If you put Taco's and Mexico in your name and it's not the best taco outside of Mexico, you are setting people up for disappointment. This places could be next door to my house and I wouldn't return. We ordered the wet burrito and the tortas with chips and salsa. The chips are amazing!! They come out hot and fresh with a delicious home made salsa. The wet burrito was massive and full of lots of meat. Torta was at least a foot long, could only eat half of it. Bread was toasted just perfectly! Our first visit to Tacos Mexico for dinner last night. We walked up there from the house so it was super convenient. They require all customers to wear a mask which is great and they have 4 outdoor tables for outdoor seating. We both got a selection of tacos. The steak and marinated tacos were great! If your feeling adventurous we also had the lingua tacos and they were delicious. The beer selection is good. They carry the 6 most popular Mexican beer selections, although it was a little pricey at $5 per bottle. Beer is allowed on the patio. Chips and salsa were super fresh and tasty. We'll definitely be adding this to our dining out (during covid) restaurant rotation. read more

Wow! Found this place on Yelp and wanted to try! It was kind of far from me but not too bad. It's a smaller restaurant with sit down sitting. I got my food to go but got the carne asada burrito and a horchata. The horchata was soo yummy! Definitely tasted amazing. The burrito was very big and I really enjoyed it. They also have a small salsa bar, beware definitely spicy! My husband got the wet burrito and thought it was amazing as well. My friends got the California burrito and only wished it included rice.
