For 20-plus years I've been making the pilgrimage to Eugene every few years (usually on the occasion of PIELC) -- and without fail, at some point we would end up at Sam Bond's Garage. But this year -- no Sam Bond's. It's turned into the Whit franchise of a pizza place, apparently. (No disrespect to their pizza. It's delicious.) But. What happened to my favorite bar/music spot in Eugene?? Such an unspeakable loss, if this venue is actually permanently closed. I will remain hopeful that it will be reborn... somewhere else? AND Crispy Avocado Burger: Breaded avocado fried to a crisp, served on a toasted sesame bun with vegan dill ranch and microgreens and house chips. Both were excellent and we would get them again. With all of this said, in addition to the location challenges (parking downtown, etc.), their hours usually don't work for us (they are only open M-F for lunch), being open at least one weekend day would get us there more often, but oh well.
