Had an hour before my morning meeting and wanted to start the day with eggs. I didn't have cooking facilities so looked up eggs in town and MGC came up. Loved that it was so close to the train station! The red door stood out in the morning sun; outdoor seating looked friendly. I'm making a bad habit of NOT ordering the most flavorful thing on the menu which was those multigrain pancakes. Don't even need the blueberry sauce, syrup was enough with how good they tasted and i only had 2 bites. There was no wait when me and my friend came in around Sunday at 2pm. Found parking easily right across the st. Love that the waitress was honest and told me the oatmeal is really plain and healthy and to add some peanut butter and brown sugar to that. I first came here on a layover last year and enjoyed it so much that I made this my breakfast spot in Eugene. Finally a layover showed up almost a year later and I had my itinerary planned out which included Morning Glory. I didn't review this spot last time but I should have. This visit was disappointing because it has fallen in standard. Others may disagree with me but traveling, dining out and food reviews come with the territory of my job. I walked in solo at 9am and I expected it to be busy so let us accept that. However, I saw 2-3 empty tables including two spots at window by the counter so I was wondering why it was taking so long to be seated. By the time I was seated it was 9:25ish. The young lady with the tattoos and pink hat was kind enough to attend to me and take my order. The food (pesto omelette) arrived at 9:55am so almost 30 minutes later. Like come on guys, really? On top of it I had to keep looking at my watch because I had to get ready for work. On two occasions I almost decided to pay and walk out before the food arrived and you have to drive my last nerve for that to happen. The egg itself tasted decent albeit the size soysage patties were a little dry. The orange juice was awesome so no faults there. I'm just annoyed because I had to wolf everything down in minutes to get back to the hotel rather than enjoy it because it took so long for the food to come out. My gripe is that service took forever and I was watching the servers multi task and be stretched thin. I won't fault their effort because they were doing their best. Oh and not once did some ask "do you need anything?" or "how is the food?"; I worked in the service industry for 12 years so I can easily see a lack of it. The other issue is that you have to eat then pay and there's only one register so the lines just seemed never ending between people trying to get a table to people placing takeout orders to people wanting to pay. Pesto omelette, side of soysage patties, orange juice and latte came to $40 with the tip so it's not exactly what I call cheap and when I am forking out upwards of $30 I expect some level of service. Would I return? I'm in two minds about it because I will probably look for another spot for my next layover. read more

Morning Glory Cafe is my favorite restaurant in Eugene. My parents & I have visited Eugene twice & both times we've had multiple meals here. In my opinion, there are two great places for brunch in town and this is one of them. It's often busy at all the predictable times and you will have to wait. There are a few tables outside that are nice when it's warm out, but expect to wait for any table on the weekends. My favorites are the happy morning sandwich and the chilaquiles. My husband's fav is the 3-fingered Jack omelette. Their specials can be fun but tend to be a little pricier than the rest of the menu. We had a special chocolate waffle recently that was fantastic. They have lots of great homemade bread choices to go along with your meal (vegan and gluten-free options) along with homemade pastries (which I always come home with at least one). Alongside my meal, I like to get a biscuit or dill roll. We also appreciate the squeeze bottle of raspberry jam (no tiny packets) and local hot sauce to go with our meal. s it had good reviews, but I didn't pay close attention to the type of food served. Turns out it is a vegetarian/vegan place which I usually avoid actually as I am a big carnivore and like my meat. Plus I was even on a keto diet and really needed a low carb meal. It was nice that not only did they allow me to substitute the potatoes and bread on the entree with salad (without additional charge), but they gave me a heaping mound of salad instead of the usual loose fluff of a bit of salad at most brunch places here in SF (when they have salad as part of a main dish). The salad itself was more interesting and nutritious than the usual, it had finely chopped veggies of all sorts, not just plain boring lettuce, and the dressings offered were all creative concoctions (I tried the cilantro tahini one which was tasty). The vegan omelet I got was seriously tastier than most of the regular omelets I have had. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We sat outside and were able to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. Went there with family on Thanksgiving weekend Sunday while driving to Seattle. It was a delightful morning with friendly staff, cozy ambience, and cute and interesting paintings. Let's talk food: interesting menu and healthy options. We enjoyed all that we ordered - tomato roasted garlic soup, enchilada, sandwich, omelette and the bakery picks (vegan poppy seed orange scone). I love a place that's not only vegan friendly but also gluten friendly. Especially when the staff asks your preferences! I had the spicy peanut noodles "salad" I loved that it was served cold but definitely thought more spice was needed. I also understand this is Eugene Oregon and it may be spicy to some people. Also every time you order toast they ask if you want vegan or dairy butter. Love that! It's so hard to decide what to get because everything looks amazing, and they have a fully stoked pastry case (we got some scones and chocolate croissant to go). A bunch of us ordered the vegan omelet bc we were curious, it's a ton of veggies wrapped in a crispy potato shell topped with a vegan tofu-based herbed sour cream. And comes with toast! First time in Eugene and we wanted to check out this breakfast place. There was a line outside which is typically a good sign. We put our names down and waited outside for about 20 minutes. You seat yourself and we sat at a booth. The inside is decorated with local artwork and interesting decor. We loved that the restaurant accommodate to our dietary restrictions and they were nice to let us switch seats a couple of times (inside - too cold, first outside seat - too hot, and the last seat - just right!). I ordered the claire bear's bomblette, golden milk chai, and the fresh squeezed orange juice. Meanwhile, my husband ordered the 3 fingered jack with the biscuit. Everything that I ate and drank was delicious especially the fresh squeezed orange juice. My in laws ordered the sandwich which was very big and perfect for two. We stumbled upon this place after a quick yelp search and we were so happy we did! We didn't realize it is a vegetarian/vegan establishment. But don't let that stop you if you are a meat lover. They have both vegan and dairy butter options. We opted for the June specials and I loved my eggs with zucchini and chard so much...I have been making it at home the last couple days.
