The dan dan noodles were delicious. Service: The restaurant is run by a Chinese couple who moved to Eugene about 10 years ago. You can tell they really love this place and run the restaurant with great care. When I was paying, for some reason my card kept getting declined, but the owner actively helped me figure out a solution, which eventually eased the awkwardness. I grew up loving the American style Chinese that seemed to be everywhere. I decided to try Uncle Sun after passing by it several times on my way to work. I was really hoping to get that taste I remember from childhood. I ordered General Tsao's chicken with fried rice, chili oil dumplings, and chicken chow mein. I was hungry and I was excited. I'll start with the General Tsao's chicken. The pieces were too big which made it harder to eat and the chicken was pretty dry. The sauce was okay but still kind of average. The fried rice was just rice with soy sauce and little remnants of some egg. The chili oil dumplings had good flavor and were definitely the highlight of the food I got. The chow mein was also just okay with well cooked chicken but lacking enough moisture for the noodles and sauce. The prices were good and the staff was friendly and attentive. For a quick easy bite in a pinch I'd go back but otherwise I will continue my quest for good old fashioned, well made Chinese.

The fried rice is good, and I like the sweet and sour chicken too. Usually we pick up broccoli beef for my nephew and that's how I learned that broccoli beef is pretty good. There isn't much seating here and I've never eaten in; it's business is take-out. They have plenty of space in their share lot so that's never an issue. And when many places (especially in Eugene, Chinese, it seems like) are closed Mondays this one is open and close Tuesday instead. Not a bad choice for Chinese American food.
