What a beautiful job they did on some rather badly beat up tall black boots of my wife's. They even offered to fix a small problem I was having with the sole of the shoe I was wearing - and they wouldn't accept any money for it. Raul did an amazing job with two pairs of shoes, without a doubt I've found my new cobbler in OC without having to ship my shoes somewhere else. He does actual sole leather replacements, not just your average tap sole (rubber) covers; which, he does as add-ons for protection/grip. He worked on two of my shoes and was happy with the outcome and price. Both shoes needed leather sole replacement and rubber heel taps. One pair also needed a leather patch on the inner heel. The business is located INSIDE the "Bodega R Ranch Market" there are a few other stalls selling jewelry and offering other services. Just keep walking along that wall and you'll find it, or ask someone for shoes/zapatos. Reminds me, Raul has a Spanish speaking helper there, in case he's at an off-site job doing upholstery. I came in for a repair on a pair of fabric heels that needed new heel pads and repair of the muddy fabric. He said he could get it done in one day which is the only reason I came here over my usual place. Unfortunately the fabric on the heels was (1) replaced with a different fabric with more sheen to it that did not match the rest of the shoe and (2) had not been glued correctly to the heel so was completely wrinkled. I was very surprised and asked him nicely if he could try it again to get the wrinkles out and he lied and said that he didn't touch the fabric. I showed him the photo of the original shoe I sent him photos of before I dropped off the shoe and he wouldn't look at the photo and said no, I didn't touch the fabric. Sam Edelman Booties securely packaged in a thick, clear, plastic bag -- assured no damage from nearby machinery or shifting. This care took my notice b/c Irvine shop Aquatalia Nude Booties came back w/ stains on the suede booties I'd just protected w/ H20-proofing. Non-Spanish speaker assessment: I had no problem communicating w/ Raul. But, I'd brought along the Irvine-done bootie as a sample of what I wanted done (Good Tip, btw, regardless!) Also, Raul's business card lists himself as the Spanish-speaker, his wife as the English-speaker. It was she who contacted me to LMK of a slight delay in job's completion date. (So add her #, too, to your phone's contact list. Nice to know her translation skills are there if need be.) Really, REALLY appreciate the care + quality + fair-pricing of Raul's workmanship. That he's an honest, hard-working, + appreciative gentleman is a bonus. Definitely returning for all my future cobbler needs... And, non-shoe needs as well. I needed my Nike shoes repaired as there was a small rip on my right shoe. I paid a deposit and was told that my shoes would be ready by Monday. I shared that I could stop by on Tuesday instead. I ended up being available on Monday evening and drove by this shop. His hours are until 6pm, but he had a 'closed' sign at 4:45pm. I then called on Tuesday morning to confirm if my shoes were ready for pick-up. I got off work a little early and stopped by at 3:30pm. My shoes weren't ready. He asked that I give him 20 minutes. At this point, I'm a little irritated, but shared that I could get a car wash and come back. I return 30 minutes later and he hasn't even started on my shoes ... he's working on someone else's belt. I wanted to support a local business and since this was near by i decided to go in. The shoe repair job i requested was pretty straight forward. First red flag should have been the fact that this guy is NEVER there. His hours are in inconsistent, he comes and goes as he pleases and doesn't answer his phone. Once I finally caught him while he was there, It took weeks until I could get a hold of him again to pick my shoes up. Even then he left them with his neighbor who I had to get my shoes from. The repair job was awful and the shoe gives me blisters now since coming back from repair. I've attempted to reach out multiple times to address this issue but of course no reply. Only in Tustin will you find this one man shoe repair stall in a mom and pop grocery store. The shoe repair stall is located on the left hand side of the store as you walk in. The stall and business is run by a man named Raul. He speaks predominantly Spanish. Nothing was lost in translation when I spoke Spanglish with him. When I had trouble understanding, he yelled over to the cashier at the store to translate. I have taken two pairs of shoes for him to repair/upgrade. He did a fantastic job at reinforcing the heel on one shoe, and repairing the heel on another shoe. Although I haven't taken my shoes lately to be repaired at any shoe repair store, I thought his prices were reasonable. Raul is not always at his stall during the posted business hours. When he is not there, the cashier will call him. He lives close by and usually arrives within minutes. It is probably best that you call him prior to heading to his stall. Vivar's is a nice little operation. He does a great job at a reasonable job. 3 1/2 stars...rounding it up to 4. He could easily be a 4 store operation if he was at his stall when I arrive. read more

Better than new! I took two pairs of boots to get resoled and the quality is top-notch. The new soles look better and feel more solid than when they were new. I think they will last much longer this time around and I'll be back here whenever I need help again. Timing: It took a week to repair both pairs of boots, but I have a feeling that if I would have needed a "Rush" job, he would have been able to accommodate. Location: It's a stall in the front of the Bodega Ranch Market, so a little hard to find on my first visit. Price: Very fair for such quality work. Perfection!! I've been looking for someone to work on my expensive shoes since I tend to ruin the heel fairly quickly. I found this on Yelp and he had great reviews so I decided to give them a try. I brought two pairs of my Coach pump in for repair. In under 40 minutes Raul repaired and replaced the heels on both pumps and they look fantastic. Great customer service. Quality work. He definitely knows what he's doing. The owner is very responsive via message. Went to get my heels cut (shortened) because I prefer to be comfy, in style. Though I wanted it shorter, he let me know it wasn't recommended. I trust him because I didn't want the integrity of the shoes compromised. Though his English appeared limited, he was able to communicate well enough for me to understand. Been wearing out the new shoes for a month now and no problem at all! The only interesting experience is the time the shoes were promised. On the message, I was told it would be 20 mins. Two shoes about 40 mins. When I got there Thursday, a bit more than 1 hour towards closing time, the shoes could be done the same day if he wasn't busy. When I got there, he didn't appear to be busy. So, I was hopeful but realistic, too, because mid next day works, too. He told me to come back in 2 days. I let him know that I needed them the next day as I wasn't sure about leaving my shoes there the whole weekend since I was going out of town. We were able to work it out to get the shoes in the early afternoon the next day. Shoes were delivered as promised. The reason why I gave it 4(.5) stars is because if he communicated more why it was not actually 20mins for each shoes but originally in 2 days for both, then I would understand. He did get them to me at the time I was really hoping for. I learned to get the delivery time confirmation before going in, if possible. Shoe repair is located in the liquor store. I don't know how he got good reviews on here. My bag leather strap broke, I brought in, he said he can fix it and takes about 3 days. He made me paid up front. I came back to pickup my bag and was disappointed with his work. The leather strap he's using does not match with the rest, it is thin compared to my original strap. He freaking used glue to glue the ends together not sewn on. I can peel right off, I came back and showed him, I told him to sew them on not glue, he did it right then but the result is so bad. I could have done it myself at home too. Now I have to find another place to fix it. Stay away! read more
