Candy has been doing my nails for over a year now. I literally travel more than an hour from the city to Brooklyn just to see her. If she's not in I see Catherine who is just as amazing. Okay service. They were willing to take me as a walk-in on a Saturday, which I appreciated. However, I was dismayed by all of the extra charges- for cutting down of nails during an acrylic fill-in, for certain polish use, and the worst- a ~10% fee for using a credit card. I really don't like companies extracting unnecessary charges from customers, and for that reason, and the fact that it wasn't really special (but nice, wide polish selection options), I won't be back. read more

I went two weeks ago to have my coffin nail acrylic set to be done. Candy was my nail technician. She did an amazing job. After 12 days I have absolutely no lifting, minimal growth and my polish is still pretty decent. Considering I was dishes a few times a day and constantly was my hands. I have been going to this place for years and Never had a problem. this past year their prices went up but the quality of service went down. I recently went to get a fill In and the woman doing my nails completely ripped off my powder and my real nails with a metro card because she said my nails were separating from the powder. she gave me an attitude when I told her to just leave them. she made my nails bleed and then I asked if I can get a manicure to clean them up and she yelled for someone else to do it, the lady doing my manicure was very rude and told me "the only way you can have nice nails is if you take care of them yourself not us" after the way I was treated I decided I didn't feel it was right to leave a tip and once I paid the lady doing my manicure pointed to herself and the lady who ripped off my nails and stated "um, You're giving us our tip right?" which I felt was rude and uncalled for. 4th time here. So obviously, I'm a fan. I pass approximately 10 nail salons to get to Vivi, including a nail salon on the same block, almost adjacent. It's worth the trek! The price is RIGHT! And the service is on point. They are very attentive. And not at all pushy; I've been to salons that try to push all their services on you several times per visit. They are patient; I've gotten annoyed at a few patrons who are demanding or rude, but they keep their cool. They even offered one lady a piece of fruit, simply because she inquired about what they were eating. I look forward to my biweekly visits!!! read more

Vivi Nails is my go-to spot for getting my nails done. I have looked far and wide in Park Slope and this place is the best in terms of quality and price. For example, I got my gel taken off and a received a manicure for just $12. I have never had a bad experience with any nail technician and they don't push you into trying certain treatments. They have a big screen TV hanging on their wall, which is usually playing Rush Hour 2 or some other odd movie, but it adds to their charm. read more

I usually get my nails done in NYC, however i was around the area and in need for a refill of my gel extensions. I found out about Vivi Nails online and thought i'd give it a try since it had decent reviews and wide range of color selections as seen in photos. I also got a pedicure along with my gel extensions. Clean and modern interior and i liked that they had Ocean's 8 playing on tv. The tech that did my spa pedicure was ok. Did not get the callus out as they say was included in the spa pedicure. The product she used smelled really pleasant. However, towards the end, i overheard her conversation with other employees speaking in Mandarin which i fully understood, she didn't seem pleased that i wanted to get my nails done. Basically it seemed like whining but i disregarded her and proceeded to pick a color for my nails. Another male tech ended up doing my refill after removing the old ones i had on and things were fine until again, the same nail tech that did my spa pedicure walked around complaining in mandarin saying, "why the client couldn't give me my tips beforehand so i don't have to wait till the end and just leave. I don't feel comfortable asking her." Wow. Really? This was a first and clients usually give tips at the end of the whole service and the fact that i heard her say that out loud assuming she thought i wouldn't understand was just mind-blowing. i began to feel more uncomfortable and gave her her tip shortly after while still getting my nails done. Fast forward, everything turned out to $130. Quite pricey for a mediocre experience and job done and i've had way better for under that price. Just went to get my two week refill today and this tech told me the work that was done prior was odd. My real nails were already brittle and weak from the gel ext and he said the fill on my nails at the tip was thick and very very thin on the nail bed. No wonder my a few of my nails ripped off a within the week. Anyways, probably will not be returning considering the job was just OK and just how unprofessional the nail tech was at Vivi's nails that did my pedicure. And yes, Vivi's design is the same as Vivi's Bubble Tea which made me thought they began doing nail business as well perhaps? I was quite excited to try a new spot in Park Slope, just not entirely pleased with my experience here. read more

Overall the place is 3 stars, but the perfect manicure I got made it 4. As I walked in, one of the ladies greeted me and asked to sit down on a sofa. After a short wait I was asked to sit down at a manicure table. It did bother me a little, that the workstation didn't have a towel or a paper towel nor did the lady clean the table before starting. She was paying very close attention while doing my manicure. Once she was done with cuticles she told me something that put me in a little shock: "Go to the back, there is a sink. Wash your hands with a soap and come back". Seriously? That's a little bizarre. But what made me give it 4 stars is the excellent manicure I got. I've tried many places in both Manhattan and Brooklyn and in most cases salons don't care as much about quality of regular manicure due to high volume of clients. You get ok or fine result. $25 for a gel manicure and I think they charged me extra to soak off. The manicurist seemed more interested in what was on TV than what she was doing to my nails. They have a pretty poor system to remove the gel which uses these little packets instead of the typical alumnimn foil which stays on much tighter, so it took a while to soak off. Since my last review, I've come here quite a few times and every time I got my nails done here, I always got compliments on how nice they looked. I've had acrylic tips done here as well as basic gel manicures, and I've always left really happy with the services I received. I also find myself traveling here to get my nails done. If you're a Brooklyn native, you know that there's a nail salon on every block but I skip the ones in my area just to come here. read more

This place is a hit or miss depending on who you get so if you like someone in particular, I would say stick with that someone. I don't do my nails often but the last few times I needed a mani/pedi, I went to Vivi. The first time I went, my nail technician was nice and did a decent job. The second time I went, got a rude lady who either didn't understand english or was just ignoring me. She rushed through the manicure, didn't fully clean off the old nail polish from a finger (I had to show her), didn't clean up the smudges on the side of the nails after painting (had to show her), didn't come with a towel to dry my hands (I saw other ladies who brought the towel to the client after they finished rising their hands). I have no idea what went on that day. I was not treated right. Left there telling myself not coming back ever again even if my first experience was decent. read more

VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I called ahead of time to confirm whether I need to make an appointment or if I could walk in. I was informed by Kitty or Katie that a walk in is welcome. I explained what type of service I needed and she said they were able to provide it for me once I come in before 6pm. I did and was told I had to wait 20 minutes for the person to come in to do my nailsI decided to step out and go to the store and when I got back she told me I wouldn't be seen for another 40 mins to get my nails done! There are so many nail places in Park Slope, you can definitely find better than this one. I only tried it because I was walking by and they were empty. It's not as clean as it should be and I felt like their tools weren't properly sanitized (looked like they were put in a toaster oven for a few minutes unwashed). At the very least, you could put my hands on a clean paper towel when you trim the cuticles. The polish on my manicure was applied hastily and they didn't really care. I've been to many nail salons across NYC - from Manhattan to Queens. I decided to try out ViVi Nails because of the reasonable pricing. The first time I went it was a good experience. The second time though? It was possibly the most disgusting, horrific, experience I have ever had in my entire life. I came to get a pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was fine. It wasn't until I had my acrylics taken off was I horrified by the lack of cleanliness. My acrylics were taken off by a man named Yip Yew Choy. Yip used a pair of nail pliers to take off my nails. And then he used a METROCARD (YES, A METROCARD!!!) to remove my nails. He was so rough on my fingers two of them started bleeding. I immediately told him I don't want a manicure. I paid for my pedicure and headed to CITY MD Doctor's Office down the block to ensure that my nails weren't infected by the unsanitary conditions of ViVi Nails. The doctor informed me that it was good I came to visit her and that his practices were not sanitary and most likely he was violating NYS health codes. I plan on taking the issue further. NEVER WILL I COME BACK HERE AGAIN! read more

Everything is extra! At least for me it was, I've been here before (job wasn't bad first time around) and decided to give the place a try again... never again! If you want "chrome" on just one nail it's $5 for each hand with regular nail polish. Now if you choose GEL which is I believe a few dollars more the price of the chrome goes down to $3 on each hand.... they are money hungry. I don't mind paying extra if the work is done RIGHT! Spring for the $35 spa pedicure over the $13 basic one, it was well worth it. I love me massage and it would have been the blue balls of a pedicure to not have one. just left this place after getting a full set. I had some remains of an old acrylic set I had gotten somewhere else about 5 weeks ago. the removal process was horrendous. i have never had a more painful manicure. 2 nails started bleeding and for the rest of the manicure, it would tremendously hurt anytime she touched either of those nails. also whenever other fingers got in the way of what she was doing, she would slap them away. it was just an aggressive, terribly not relaxing manicure. my fingers are still throbbing. she took a metro card to rip off the old set and the 2 nails that bled ripped off my real nail. next to me, another nail technical was watching a tv show very loudly. idk, the atmosphere of this place is weird and not relaxing or professional at all. not to mention I paid $60 for the whole thing. the end result was fine, but I will not be going back because I just wanted to leave the whole time. read more

No-frills salon. They do a nice mani/pedi for $20 - fantastic price point, but you get what you pay for. This is a great place if you're looking for a nice coat of polish for cheap. However, I'm willing to pay slightly more for more callous removal and massage on the pedicure. I also wished that they would spend more time on my cuticles. read more

I usually come here to get a manicure and pedicure with my sister since they do a good job. They actually have working massage chairs for you to use while they do your pedicure. Everytime we come here, we see different people working. There is only 2-3 familiar faces that I recognize. They can get really busy during after work hours or on the weekends. read more

I'm very picky with nail spots when it comes to cleanliness, overall hygiene and of course overall quality of service. This place is okay, I definitely like that its clean and modern, manicures are also okay, nice variety of polish colors etc which is nice. But it's a bit pricy for the regular mani and pedi in my opinion, the price, give me an expectation of AMAZING mani that last for long time. But overall nice place, I recommend it. I asked the manager how long is the wait for a mani pedi and she says 10 min. I say ok and let me get tip a cash for them and will be back in 10 min. She says yeah we prefer a cash tip. I come back and the lady who is suppose to see me is not done yet which is fine. Then the manager seats 2 people who came in after me. Meanwhile the manager does not even acknowledge me and makes excuses when I complain about what they did. This place is just about the money. Why would I waste my time going to get a cash tip to walk back and you don't even have the integrity to seat me when you said. Not to mention this place does not look clean, very unorganized. So now I have wasted my time and it's late in the day, so it's too late to go anywhere else. So don't waste your time with these rude people because they will waste YOUR time. This is a solid go-to for a quick, cheap mani-pedi ($19 before tip). I was in and out in an hour, although they don't seem to mind if you hang out all day if you want (as it seems some patrons did). My nail technician was very nice and responsive to my requests. She didn't speak much English, but did make attempts at polite small talk. They took both appointments and walk-ins while I was there. I watched bits of "Despicable Me" on the flat screen tv, which was ery entertaining. Maybe not a soothing, spa-type place, but a good value for your time and money. read more

I get my gel manicure here every other week or whenever I actually have a day off to come in. Always a perfect job. Only once did I have a problem with the color changing to a yellowish tint but when I came back she had absolutely no problem changing the entire manicure for free. Some of the negative reviews are silly. If you open your mouth and actually vocalize what u want done they will do it. They're not mind readers. Like if u don't want ur eyebrows reshaped just say clean them up please. Simple. read more
