Vivi is amazing! I waited until the last minute to get my hair cut -- haven't gotten it cut in well over a year. Then this morning I realized -- I need to look human tomorrow. This salon takes walk-ins, and when I asked if I could just pop in she said sure but was with a client (color) and would be with her for an hour. I told her I would stop by in about an hour. This review is a serious warning to anyone considering Vi Vi Salon in Virginia. I went in for basic eyebrow threading and experienced excessive force and careless handling. The threading was done so harshly that it caused abnormal pain, and two days later my eyebrow area is STILL painful. That raises real concerns about technique and customer safety. To make matters worse, the right eyebrow was visibly shaped incorrectly and ruined. When I politely and calmly pointed this out, the staff member refused to take accountability and denied the mistake, despite it being clearly visible. I reasonably asked her to at least fix or adjust the other eyebrow so I wouldn't walk out looking uneven. She refused outright, said she "didn't want to do it," and showed zero professionalism. When I asked how I was supposed to leave with only one eyebrow done and the other messed up, her response was:"That's not my problem." That alone speaks volumes. The situation escalated further when she became hostile and threatened to call the police simply because I asked her to correct her own work. This is unacceptable behavior toward a paying customer. I told her to call them and check the cameras if needed--I had done nothing wrong. Because it was closing time and nearby salons were shutting down, I was forced to leave with one eyebrow done and the other not, embarrassed and distressed, with no chance to fix it immediately. This is not a minor complaint. This is about: Painful, careless service Refusal to correct visible mistakes Hostile behavior toward customers Threats instead of resolution Zero accountability or customer care If you value your face, your time, your money, or your dignity, I strongly recommend avoiding Vi Vi Salon. Updating my review so no one else has to go what I went through... when I was 18 I came to this hair salon as I wanted to get a simple balayage, and left with not only the worst bleaching job ever but a red irritated scalp with open wounds. Right after I got my hair done I was in so much pain and looked awful.. I was in high school at the time and had a Sadie's dance (which is why I got my hair done) and so of course I was desperate as I didn't want to look horrible for my school dance and so I box dyed my hair brown so I could at least look half presentable for my school dance. As I'm dyeing my hair I call Vivi and she is incredibly rude on the phone, all I wanted was HALF my money back which was around $120 just to cover the box dye I bought and so I could have at least something back because my hair was so bad and I knew I would have to spend a lot of money to fix it. She refused and yelled at me on the phone and was incredibly rude. A few days go by and I am feeling starting to feel incredibly unwell and I can see disgusting bloody boils on the top of my head. It's getting so bad I go to my dermatologist and I get a swab on my head. Turns out the boils on my head were as STAPH infection (if you want to see how disgusting it is look it up). And my dermatologist said it was 100% due to the open sores on my head from all the irritation from bleaching. I was given antibiotics for over a MONTH and was in severe pain. My staph infection unfortunately for me was antibiotic resistant. So I spent months and months suffering. After I was on multiple rounds of antibiotics it finally went away. However. Something still felt wrong with me I was having severe stomach issues and I was very sick. So I go to my gastroenterologist, surprise! I have C.diff (again, look this up if you want to see how disgusting it is). Turns out the antibiotic I was taking was taking to treat my staph could cause C.diff to occur. I spent many many months suffered internally and externally. My hair looked awful and I felt awful. After countless doctors visits and pain and suffering I finally took matters into my own hands and decided to take her to court. When she got subpoenaed to court she began texting me and pleading with me, and not only that but her friend Lisa B (who you will see a review somewhere below) privately messaged me and threatened me to drop my case all because she overheard a conversation between me and my friend talking about the Kardashians and sugar daddies (which I think is normal 18 year old conversation), anyways this made her come to the conclusion that I was doing this all as a scam- despite the fact that I have doctor proof and statements from my doctors. All I wanted from Vivi was an apology and money to cover SOME of my extensive medical bills as well as her license potentially revoked. Fast forward to court, I go and I win the first time Vivi becomes aggressive with the judge after hearing his verdict and the young man with her has to calm her down as the police begin walking towards her. She ends up appealing and winning the second time as her lawyer and her claim that they didn't use bleach on my head and instead used oils, despite the fact that I had pictures of the bleach in the sink next to my head as she was doing it. Normally I would never write a review like this however to this day, 5 years later I am still suffering. Due to the staph and C.diff I have to be incredibly careful when i take antibiotics as once you get C.diff once it is reoccurring, and not only that my gut health is completely destroyed and I have since had to get 2 colonoscopy's due to the pain it has caused. I hope everyone learns from my story and is careful not just from coming here but any hair salon as a simply balayage can lead to years of pain and suffering. PLEASE READ. For this salon I had to warn any women, man or otherwise customer even considering getting their hair done at this shop. Do NOT do it. If I could leave -1 stars I would. And I am so sorry to say that. Please read this honest review. I was hoping to support a local small business, I really do try, but after multiple times of visiting Vivi Salon, I've found that I can't hold back anymore. The owner did a horrific job on my hair; I came in asking for a darker hair color and left with over bleached, extremely dry, brittle and green hair. Yes you read that right. Green hair. Despite seeing my hair after FIVE hours of treatment I never asked for (even while I continuously mentioned I wanted darker hair, not lighter and she reassured me that's what was happening), I still tipped the woman out of respect. She runs the business alone, as far as I can tell, and I couldn't bear the thought of tipping low after everything, so I gave her $40. For a disaster job. But when I came back home I couldn't look myself in the mirror. My hair was on the edge of falling off and my scalp was on fire. So I was stuck extremely dissatisfied with my hair, in pain, and suffered a blow to my wallet. No matter what I thought it wasn't right, so I went back to her salon. I wasn't confrontational at all, I kindly asked her what had gone wrong with my hair. Upon seeing me she exploded into a fit, yelling that she herself didn't know why my hair was green. Well then what does that say for her as a professional? She screamed that I was evil and out to trick her. She was so mad, but I still can't understand it. I was the one that had to live with the damage on my head she caused and wouldn't fix, yet she was yelling at me, calling me names and accusing me of trying to shut down her business. Saying all I wanted was her money. She even involved a complete stranger that walked into the store in her fuss, which was completely and utterly unprofessional and unethical. Even as I write this, the very same day of this occurrence, I'm shocked to my core. At the end of it all, I didn't even get a full refund. I just left because I was so hurt and honestly scared. I won't post a picture of my hair because I'm so embarassed and I'm praying some other salon will be able to help me. So please, if you can help yourself then don't go to Vivi Salon. The service is simply not worth the damage you are bound to incur. And to the owner, I hope you read this all. I came seeking to make amends and hope something could work out for the better but instead you insisted on making me evil. I hope this review will make you think better on how to treat customers in the future, for as of today you have lost a customer that tried to support you numerous times in the past but will no longer. Would genuinely give this salon 0 stars if that was an option. My friend went to her for a brunette balayage and left with chemical burns on her scalp due to the amount of bleach she used, not to mention ORANGE hair as a result of heavy bleach and no toner. The chemical burns were so bad they ended up giving her a Staph infection that cost her hundreds of dollars in antibiotics and steroids and lasted almost a year. When we contacted Vivi afterwards explaining how unhappy we were with the results, she was incredibly rude and refused to give any sort of help for the damage she caused. To start, the place is really clean and Vivi (who is also the owner) is so sweet and personable! She's very patient and never has an attitude if I ask her to fix something. She encourages her clients to speak up about something if they don't like and she's very quick to make any adjustments necessary to ensure that you leave happy. This was my first time and probably the last time. I walked in and Vivi started working on my hair and beard. She directly started cutting my hair and then proceeded to my beard. I was under the impression that it will be closer to $30 since most review says won't cost an arm and leg and on the website the price seems closer around $30. I saw and overheard this young woman - with GREEN dry, brittle hair - discuss her ongoing search for a "sugar daddy" and her wannabe Kardashian lifestyle - and now, friends, she is suing the salon owner for damage to her already-damaged hair. Look closely at her photos and you'll see the green. This is appalling on every level. Me and my family (Mom, Dad, Grandma, sons and daughters) have trusted Vivi with our hair for the past 7 years and she is absolutely wonderful. She always has a good attitude, and has a very good memory for what we each like so you avoid having to explain in detail what you need every time. Her shop went through some renovation and now it looks very cozy with nail stations, new chairs, etc. Vivi is one of the hardest working people if have met in her industry and she deserves good reviews, especially from her regular clients - hair is very personal and the greatest stylist may or may not be the right fit for you, but trust me: with the very needy family of mine, Vivi is definitely a one stop shop. Worst haircut I have gotten in several years. Whoever cut my hair squeezed me in between doing the coloring treatment of another client. This haircut has made me die a little inside. I showed several pictures, she didn't even want to look at them. She cut my hair as if she was confident in what I wanted but it turned out to be trash. I wouldn't go back here but that is just me. I felt as if I was intruding and as if it was my fault that I need a haircut. My sides are completely uneven and she just used the texturing scissors all over to make up for her sloppy job. Our family has been going to Vivi for at least 15 years. Our sons haven't had their hair cut by anyone else. Even our 30 year old son still goes to Vivi for his haircuts. Today, we took our blind, autistic, intellectually-disabled daughter to Vivi for a much needed haircut. We usually cut her hair ourselves because she just won't allow it. Vivi patiently let our daughter stand up and she just worked around her to get in there and get the job done. She told us that she would be willing to open her store up during non-business hours to accommodate a special needs child if necessary.
