This review is solely for Vivian's communication (or lack thereof). A friend told me about Vivian and after reviewing her instagram, I absolutely fell in love with her work. I reached out immediately in mid-August to book her, and she was luckily available! I was ecstatic. I followed up with a question about booking and did not hear back for over a week. That's fine, I get that she's busy. When I finally heard back, I received a long list of items to fill out for a contract. After I sent my contract info, I received an email from her assistant that my info was received and that a contract would be coming soon. I was so excited! It had already been a month since I initially reached out, so I was ready to lock this down. After waiting for TWO MORE WEEKS, I am told that someone else booked my date and thus they could not proceed with my contract. WHAT?! You couldn't have told me that TWO weeks ago after claiming to have received my info?? By this point, it was already October. I was so upset - what a waste of my time! It had already been practically two months since I first contacted her. I decided to reach out again & ask if she had any recommendations for a similar style artist to her, and hoped she would give me suggestions out of good faith after completely wasting my time. It's been almost 3 weeks and no response. In those 3 weeks, I spoke to 5 different artists who responded IMMEDIATELY, and have moved forward with booking & paying, providing my vision, booking bridesmaids, and having all of my questions answered in hours by the artist I booked - a true sign of professionalism. I am ready to throw down with anyone who wants to argue with me that Vivian is not the best at what she does. I've been following her work for years and knew she was talented but having her work her magic on me and seeing it in person put her on a whole other level. She and her team were punctual and so professional on my wedding day. When I inquired about my date at first, Vivian was already booked for a full day with another bride. Having been a bridesmaid multiple times over the years, I've come to know the importance of having a great HMU team on the big day. I also had a full Pinterest board of inspo photos, so safe to say that I had a very specific look in mind. I booked a trial with Vivian for both my fiance and me to coincide with our engagement photoshoot in September 2019. My trial with Vivian was about 3 hours and we definitely bonded during that time, which made the time fly by very quickly. I was stunned by the result - I've never felt/looked more beautiful in my life! My fiance was also very happy with his grooming session trial. My hair/makeup held for the 1-2 hour engagement photo session at the beach, which was no small feat considering that there ended up being fairly strong winds for the second half of the engagement photo shoot and my hair was loose and in curls. We, like so many others, had to postpone our wedding due to COVID. We were so grateful that Vivian was so understanding and let us postpone without any additional fees. On the day of the wedding, Vivian and her team arrived promptly and quickly got to work on all 10 of us (7 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 1 bride). Vivian worked solely on me and my fiance and her team members worked on everyone else. All my bridesmaids and moms were very happy with their hair and makeup and most importantly, we were done pretty much on schedule. They even took the time to explain the makeup tool cleaning and hygiene process to my mom and sister, who were more COVID conscious and had never gotten their hair and makeup done before. So I found Vivian through Instagram and quickly fell in love with her work. I booked her in the beginning of January 2020 for my august 2020 wedding for myself and 7 bridesmaids. As we know, covid happened and the wedding had to be postponed so I needed to figure out if I could get a refund for my hefty deposit. Initially contacting her was difficult as I would not receive any response for long periods of time. Sadly, I was ready to take another loss for wedding deposit. As time progressed and things started to somewhat reopen in 2021 I decided on a new wedding date and Vivian was able to do my hair/makeup for my engagement pictures and my wedding day. You can tell Vivian loves her job and she is a master at her craft. I found her on Instagram and did not personally know anyone who had used her before I booked her. I trusted her by just seeing her work on IG. Her pricing was a little on the higher side but I did not do a trial so I felt I could spend a little more on my wedding day hair and makeup. It's kind of crazy that I trusted her to make me look great without doing a trial, but in the end I know I made the right decision. She made me look amazing! I received so many compliments from my friends and family and I truly looked the best I have ever looked on my wedding day! I did not want to look like a different person on my wedding day after professional makeup and she did exactly what I wanted... she made me look like the best version of myself. And I had a long day...over 15 hrs. My advice if you want too book Vivian is to book early, a year in advance would not be unreasonable. It will be worth it! She is very busy so cannot always answer emails right away, but she answered and did everything that I asked. I just want to start off with saying Vivian is amazing with bridal hair and make up but there's several factors in the entire experience. Bride hair/makeup (5/5): I couldn't be any happier with how my hair and make up was done for my big day. I got a lot of compliments on how nice my side updo was. I didn't have a vision for how I wanted my make up to look I just said a soft blush look and Vivian delivered. Day of team/time management (2/5): I had 4 bridesmaids and 2 moms doing hair and makeup with Vivian's team and there was only 1 make up and 1 hair person that showed up to do all 6 in 3 hrs. It was extremely hectic to say the least. Everyone felt like they were being rushed. I don't have any getting ready pictures with one of my bridesmaid because their hair wasn't done. I was just stressed right from the start of the day. On top of that the hairdresser teased my mom's hair so much that it looked like a bird's nest and she played it off saying that it looks like there sample picture and it absolutely did not. Overall we felt a lot of attitude from the team. They rushed out of there right when they finished so no one got to ask for any small touch ups. Even as the bride I didn't receive the touch up kit I was promised. Just not a good start to the day. I felt like with the amount of money I paid for the service we should've gotten at least 1 more hairdresser to make it work. Planning/communication (2/5): Vivian takes at least 1.5 weeks to reply to an email and there's no other way to communicate. I have worked with Vivian 4 times now. She did my boudoir makeup the first time I did my boudoir shoot. The makeup came out flawless. She did exactly what I wanted. I wanted something super subtle. I at the time was not a huge makeup person. I even said light styling for my hair. It was kind of boring but is what I wanted at the time. It was a soft curl but looked great. When she was doing my makeup then I told her my man loved 60's inspired makeup and she was like I love that era! It was meant to be. So I decided to schedule a private lesson with her. I was so inept with makeup I could use all the help I could get. :) I was a fun time and I would totally recommend it! The third time I saw her was when I did another boudoir shoot and we went a little bolder this time. Way different look! I have to tell you AHHHH-MAZING!! She truly is a master at her art! I can't believe I waited so long to write this review. I completely forgot. Sorry Vivian! So our wedding was Feb 2016 and I found Vivian through yelp and it was one of the best decision I made! I was choosing between her and a couple of other make-up artist for both hair/makeup in the Orange County area. Her price was very reasonable. She showed (through email) this sweet, and genuinely nice personality in the way she spoke and I loved it. And when I met her in person for my trial, she was exactly that. I looked at myself and was like, that is me and I LOVE IT. Me and my bridesmaids were all very simple in terms of make up, so I needed someone who would give us a very natural look and Vivian delivered. She listen to exactly what I wanted and wasn't pushy about anything. On the day of the wedding, we started at 5am and needed to be done with me, my mom (hair and make up) and 4 bridesmaids (make up only by 8:30). I decided to do a different hair style from the trial but I wasn't too sure exactly what I wanted my hair to look and I let her create what she thought was best with the criteria I needed (hair down, bangs to one side and a hair piece) and I loved it. And when Vivian was done with my mom's hair and make up, I loved Vivian forever because she looked so good! (I have Always hated the person that my mom goes to to get her make up done). She's a total professional, arrived right on time and stayed nearby the venue the night before to ensure she would be on time bright and early the day of my wedding with no issue. Vivian Tran deserves these 5 stars. My sister in law just recently got married in Temecula this past Saturday and hired Vivian to do her make up (she found Vivian through good ol' Yelp). While my sister in law was planning her wedding (stressful task to take on, which I can vouch for because I was pretty stressed planning my own a few years back), she told me that she was considering two make up artists. And unfortunately one of them just did not make the cut for her, as she did not like the way her make up turned out for her engagement photos. And so she decided to meet with Vivian and hire her for the wedding. Anyways, I first met Vivian at my sister in law's hotel (she was staying at The Inn at Europa Village) Saturday morning a little after 8 am. Vivian, along with another make up artist, Carla (I think that is her name), on her team was there. Carla worked on my make up and Vivian worked on my hair (Vivian did the make up for my sister in law and did some make up for the other bridesmaid. She also did make up for the mother of the groom as well). I told Carla that I wanted something real light but that I would just leave up the rest up to her, as I fully trust the experts in this field. As Carla was working on my face (she took a little less than an hour), she and I just made small talk about the different wineries in the area and also about food in general. She was very easy to talk to and was able to put me at ease, as I was feeling a little anxious that morning (I was the matron of honor and unfortunately I came a little late that morning and hoped that I did not take up take from the next person who needed to get her make up done by her). Carla shaped my eyebrows and also put on eyelash extensions. I thought she drew my eyebrows in a little on the thick side, which I was not used to (well to be honest, I don't wear make up at all unless it is for photo shoots and special occasions. I also do not do my own make up and always need someone else to apply it for me.. yep, I am one of those girls). But I didn't realize that the eyebrows were what was throwing me off when I saw my face in the mirror, so I did not ask Carla to adjust it (throughout the process, Carla always checked with me if I wanted anything to be changed on my face). Then after make up, I had Vivian do my hair. I told her that all I wanted was for all of my hair to be up because this wedding was going to be outside and the weather for that day was supposed to be hot (was predicted to be 99*F for that day). Then I told her that she can do whatever she would like with my hair because I trust her judgement. Vivian was so incredibly friendly, just as Carla was. I felt like I was talking to an old friend as the time flew by. She ended up doing this beautiful updo for my hair that I thought really pulled my overall look together. With the make up and the hair, it really made me feel like I was all put together and looked the part as the matron of honor (because before the hair, I wasn't quite sure but once I saw my hair, I knew it was the right look). Vivian took a few photos of my hair and make up so that I could see how I looked on camera and she was really cool about sending them to me so that I could send them to my husband and a few of my friends and family members. After everyone was all done with make up and hair (Vivian truly made my sister in law blossom into a beautiful, mature woman. Her make up and hair was just so gorgeous and I really just couldn't stop admiring her), Carla left but Vivian stayed with us. She was with us until after the wedding ceremony (which was inside a church, but the reception was outdoors). She touched up my make up, the other bridesmaid and my sister in laws. Then she left around 3:45 pm. As the day wore on, my make up stayed on beautifully. I was afraid that with the heat, my make up would melt or run, but it stayed on nicely. I had that fresh looking face that I had since that morning (it was also helpful that the sun went down sooner than expected and the outdoor venue had those mist sprays to keep things cool). Vivian is such a talented young lady. She is down to earth and really easy to talk to. She is very reliable and cares about her clients. I liked that she also took the initiative to help the bride and bridal party while transporting items to the bridal suite before heading off to the church for the ceremony (she just helped carry items and so forth, even when no one asked her). I will definitely consider using Vivian's service in the future for my future photo shoots. Just some additional notes: Vivian is currently charging $150 for hair and make up (non bridal) or $80 just for make up. But charges $100 for more extravagant make up (her words "Avant Garde Type Make Up"). All services are done in salon, otherwise there is a $300 minimum to travel to location. Her salon is currently in Garden Grove, but starting July 20, she will be moving to Tustin. read more

Vivian was on time, and did a great job! She did my sister's wedding, and we all turned out beautifully! She was easy going, and very friendly. As the bridesmaids, we wanted a little more natural, and she did such a fabulous job! For the bride, she added hair extensions and finished her makeup on time. I had the joy of watching Vivian work twice now. She listens to what you want and openly asks you what you don't like. After my makeup was done she said, "tell me whatever you want me to change. It's not my face, it's yours so it won't hurt my feelings." It's helpful when you're a people pleaser and would feel bad otherwise. She took roughly 50 minutes for my bridesmaid makeup and another 50 minutes for the other bridesmaid too. With hair it would be another 30 minutes or so. I've seen her do bridal makeup and that took her longer. I'm sure it depends on what you want. A bonus, she comes with music! Highly recommended for wedding hair and make up! She is worth every penny and more! Vivian has such a gift in both hair and make up, plus she's extremely professional about her job and laid back at the same time so that your day starts off smoothly. I found Vivian through Yelp and checked out her website, which instantly made me believe that she was going to be the perfect make up artist for my special day. When I found out that she was in Tustin, it made me feel relaxed that she wouldn't be too far out of the way. Of course, I contacted her to see if she was available for my wedding and took note of her quotes. She responded within the week and luckily she was available but had other brides waiting for the same day. Fortunately, she gave me the heads up since I contacted her first, so I felt incredibly lucky. Once I secured my spot with Vivian, I tried to schedule a trial before my wedding shower. Meeting Vivian was so fun! She's fully concentrated to make you look gorgeous, even though she knows it's just a trial. She gave me the look that I wanted and felt comfortable in and then before I took off, she switched up the hair style to make it a little more casual and messy looking for my outdoor wedding shower (still gorgeous!!) - Vivian suggested it so that the hair and make up would still be a good surprise for my actual wedding day. If anyone ever worries about their hair and make up, a trial is recommended. With Vivian, the trial basically makes you feel confident that your hair and make up will look absolutely stunning, from the start of the day to the end of the night! When I took my pins down from my updo, my hair still looked amazing with my curls down. You really can't go wrong even if your hair somehow hates those Bobby pins while you're dancing around. It's like magic. You can never look bad. Seriously. For my wedding party, I needed hair and make up done for my 4 bridesmaids and my mom. Vivian was able to find a team of two other talented artists to help make everyone look beautiful within our time slot while she was focused to be my hair and make up artist for 3 hours. They all came in exactly when they said they would and began work right away and completed everything including clean up before anyone showed up. It was so quick that I felt bad for not telling my photographer and Videographer to come sooner, but that's what happens when you have professional vendors that stick to their time schedules! There is no added stress on being behind schedule when you work with Vivian. Vivian and her team brought in everything you could imagine a dream team to bring, which included a large layout of make up tools, hair tools, chairs, lighting, music, emergency touch up kit for the bride, their friendly attitudes and fun personalities! I provided some baby's breath and seeded eucalyptus leaves and asked if Vivian and her team could work with those for our hair accessories. The team nailed the baby's breath placements and Vivian made me feel elegant with that extra touch of seeded eucalyptus surrounding my gold/pearl hair pin and baby's breath. Simply amazing. Classy and elegant, just the way I imagined it to be. I wanted to wait until the professional photos came out before my review, but I'll post these ones and a couple sneak peeks for now! When I first met Vivian, I knew it was love :) I came in for a trial and we were wearing the exact same outfit! I was torn between having my hair up or down for my wedding and Vivian totally convinced me that having it up was the way to go! She said that I could have my hair down for any occasion but asked how often I would get to have my hair in a pretty up-do. Two hours later and I loved my hair and makeup! I knew from that moment on that I would trust her no matter what! Flash forward a few months later and it was time for our joint bachelor/bachelorette party. I reached out to Vivian because I wanted to look like a fox. Since I decided on having my hair up for my wedding, I wanted to have it down for the party. Vivian did my hair and makeup for my wedding, as well as my mom and mother-in-law's makeup. She did an AMAZING job! Not only did she navigate through my mom's nervousness with ease, Vivian was very clear on what to expect and didn't over-promise anything that couldn't be delivered. Everything was concise and to the point, but friendly and conversational. Vivian does NOT filter or manipulate her images. That's one of the main reasons why I went with her. It's easy to sell someone when you use Oprah lighting effects on all your pictures, but she's the real deal. Not only did we all get radiant finishes, none of us had to touch-up our makeup all day (I didn't even blot, and I'm usually a grease monster). I also had lovely compliments about my hair the entire day. I honestly have no idea how I made it to this point in my life with the makeup I have somehow learned to apply. Matching foundation appears to require a chemistry degree, contouring completely bamboozles me, and I don't know what concealer is for. I've had a few weddings to attend in the last six months - you know, living that #latetwenties lifestyle hard - so luckily I had Vivian come to the rescue because I sure as hell didn't know what I was doing. "What kind of style are you looking for?" OMG I don't know, the kind where I look good, but not so good I outshine the bride? And she delivered.
