Considering starting a commercial weight loss program?! You know the ones: WW, SOTA, MEDIFAST, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, etc ... Do yourself a favor. Instead of spending a considerable fortune on those programs. Make an appointment with Dr. Anamekwe and talk to her about what she teaches. Once you discover that your insurance provider will cover the Obesity Prevention/Weight Loss Counseling Program. You will save yourself much of the money you would've spent on the commercial programs and be left with only your regular insurance copay. Vivify Wellness Center does offer shake mixes & bars but these are simply optional tools to help you on the way to your goal weight! It's not mandatory that you purchase the shakes/bars. They're an option if you want to. Seriously, I almost feel like I'm cheating when I think of the money I'm saving by working with Dr. Anamekwe versus the commercial weight loss programs. My goal was to wait a month before writing my review for Vivify Wellness Center because I wanted to ensure that my experience was authentic and most importantly result driven. Well 1 month later, I have lost over 5lbs with the help and knowledge of Dr. Anamekwe. My very first visit was like an orientation and it took a couple of hours. Every new patient is notified in advance to block out 4 hours in his/her schedule for the new patient consultation.  Just like any doctor's visit, you're required to sign tons of paperwork and waivers (they will email you a packet of documents to sign beforehand). Each patient is greeted with an informational video from Dr. Anamekwe, which highlighted the myths and facts about weight loss, Vivify Wellness Center's values, and different options to treat obesity.   After watching a series of videos, the nurse took me to a room to perform various tasks such as: capture a full-body "before" picture, create my online portal, get my measurements, weight, bloodwork, and my EKG results. Shortly after, Dr. Anamekwe walked into the room to explain in detail about her program, the purpose of the thorough health assessment, and answer any questions. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed with her expertise and blown away by her passion to help inspire her patients to make permanent lifestyle changes. I knew at that very moment that I had made the right decision to entrust Dr. Anamekwe with my health.     As a new patient, you are required to meet weekly for the first 4 weeks for strict monitoring and accountability. Each program is different depending on the patient's needs.  On the second visit you will receive your bloodwork and EKG results. This test is extremely important when diagnosing health issues. Dr. Anamekwe also provides you with a document that contains the definitions of each health term used on the result sheet. She goes step by step to explain what each section of the result page means and how it positively or negatively affects the body.   Long review short... Dr. Anamekwe is awesome! Dr. Anamekwe is very professional in how she carries herself and is super knowledgeable, helpful, and culturally competent. She is very thorough in addressing my health concerns and made time to address each concern, without making me feel rushed or that my concerns were irrelevant. She also took the time to educate me on topics pertaining to my health and broke the education down in a way that I would understand, and I always learn new info from her with each visit. She is also thorough in ordering the relevant tests and lets me know the reason for each test. Even when I suggested certain tests, she helped me to find alternative tests that essentially test for the same thing but are more affordable for me! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kene Anamekwe! I moved to Wylie from Odessa in 2018. I had a wonderful Internist in Odessa that I really did not want to lose. I am a cancer survivor and have other health concerns so a GOOD doctor that I can talk to and who will address all my concerns - no matter how small - is a must for me. I tried going back to Odessa every few months but when some issues with my blood came up, my doctor felt like it was time for me to find an Internist in this area to be more closely monitored, so I began my search. I got some recommendations from my Hematologist - four or five names. I called several at random because I did not really know anything about any of them. I ran into problems like, "not taking new patients", "we don't take that insurance", etc. I called Dr. Anamekwe and was able to make an appoint fairly quickly. Honestly, I had put her farther down on my list because I have hearing issues and I was afraid I would have trouble understanding her, but I decided to give it a try. After making my appointment, I looked her up on the internet to see what I could find out about her. Her clinic is Vivify Wellness Center and I found out that they had a weight loss center. I thought, "Oh boy! I am looking for a doctor to address my health concerns and all she is going to be interested in is my weight." I have struggled with my weight for many years. I have been to many weight loss clinics. Trust me. I know the drill, but for some reason I decided to give it a try anyway. I was pleasantly surprised! Dr. Anamekwe is delightful, very personable, easy to understand, and took an ample amount of time with me. All through my visit, though, in the back of my mind was, "When is she going to hit me with the weight loss." I NEVER happened! We talked about all my history. She told me how she was interested in treating all my issues to the upmost of her ability; she shared her philosophy on medical treatment; and she never mentioned the weight loss portion of her practice - I had to ask her about it. She told me if I were interested in that, I would have to make another appointment just for it because her medical practice is separate. I was impressed. I have now been seeing her for almost six months. She discovered I was pre-diabetic. I am going today for blood work that I expect to tell me that I have completely turned that situation around. I did join her weight loss program, which is really just a lifestyle change, and I have lost over 30 pounds. The plan is easy and I am never hungry. I have very few cravings but when I do, I have learned that the taste of that food is not nearly as good and the way that lower number on the scale makes me feel. I am looking forward to getting off some of my medications - I currently take NINE. (Can you imagine the cost of that!) Recently I told her, "Dr. Anamekwe, you are going to save my life." She answered, "No, I am going to be the instrument God uses to save your life." Wow, when was the last time you got a response like that from a doctor? I had heard great things about Dr. Kene and finally made my appointment for January 2018. Dr. Kene is the REAL DEAL, like no other doctor I have ever experienced. I have seen amazing success with my A1C dropping to almost normal levels already, less than 10 months. Here are a few reasons why Dr. Kene is a REAL physician - We all know that health is what you eat and what you do - no short term fad diet works long term. Dr. Kene has a class for patients who are ready to make a life change to get healthy where she teaches you how the body works and shows you what sugar and fast food do to a body. Dr. Kene inspires her patients. She is encouraging, but also will be honest when you just have not done what you know you should be doing. She always encourages you either way! Dr. Kene will review all of the medicines that most traditional doctors prescribe. One of mine was hurting me - not affecting my diabetes one bit. She worked with me to reduce my meds as quickly as possible and I am seeing terrific results. For diabetic patients, Dr. Kene will run a test to gauge your pancreas level of performance. As she told me, "If your pancreas is not working, no amount of prescriptions will help you." Thank God for Dr. Kene testing me because I was just under 50% on pancreas performance and if I had kept on the same track of popping pills, I might be on dialysis by now. All of my visits and treatments have been covered by my insurance. The office has a small staff of the doctor and a nurse. They schedule patients accordingly. I have never, not once, had another patient in the waiting room when I arrived. This office knows how to keep a tight schedule without wasted time waiting. I truly could go on and on, but the proof of all of this is in the results I have received. Dr. Kene cares about her patience. I have finally found a true doctor at heart. Dr. Anamekwe is the most compassionate doctor that I have ever met. She treated me with such kindness that it touched my heart and soul. She treated my mother virtually Covid just by my asking if she could help even though my mother was not her patient. My mother's doctor told her to go and Quarantine without any recommendation or support. The office called back to check on her to see how she was doing. I have never felt this much at ease while consulting with a doctor in my entire life. It felt like I was talking to a friend who cares a lot about me and my well-being.
