I would give it 0 stars if I could. We just moved to Williamsburg and we had our service installed yesterday. It took them 7 hours. They messed something up with the thermostat and now we have no AC. It is supposed to be 90 degrees plus today. It has been a nightmare trying to connect with any customer service agent that isn't AI or that can actually do anything other than send messages to other departments. After 3-4 hours on the phone and chatbots, they cannot send someone out today to fix their own mistake and we have small children. They told us we have to sit in the heat and wait for a week before they can fix their own mistake. RUN, do not walk, away from from this company in Williamsburg. read more

These people have rescheduled and rescheduled my move-in for months, no call no-show, cancel the last minute and then this last time they didn't have all the equipment they needed because they charge you to move it. And on top of you still have to pay for your equipment, even if they suck which we did cancel! read more

I scheduled a service call to have $1,200 worth of security cameras--already paid for--installed, and the technician never showed up. We rescheduled for an entire month later due to their "full schedule," only for them to no-show a second time. No communication. No apology. Now I'm stuck chasing a refund for equipment I never received service for. Completely unacceptable. We will be switching to a new security provider ASAP. read more

One star for "not good" is still too high. Vivint is described as a smart home company. They label their selves as a security firm but they might want to practice what they preach and be smarter with their tactics to sell their products. Representatives of this company have come through my neighborhood on more than a few occasions and some have yet to get the hint. Why are reps from Vivint coming to my home knocking on the door at 830 on a Wednesday night. I tell you why and it is because they have no respect of when you are trying to spend time with your family after working all day. I understand and respect that they are doing their job but it goes both ways in respecting possible future customers. Also they came by at 730 on a Saturday evening. Vivint stop this. I made it clear I am not interested the first few times and with other reps who have stopped by so please stop bugging people. Well you can bug others but stop with me. Here is the other piece I have an issue with. Stop telling me the names of my neighbors and that they plan on purchasing your system. Just because someone lives near me does not mean I have conversations with them like that. I don't care and what someone else decides to purchase has absolutely no influence on my decision. Now to the security part. Telling me that a neighbor purchased one of your systems to provide extra security because their spouse deploys a lot and they feel safer being home alone is known as dry snitching. I don't think that neighbor would be happy with a person saying to others that they are home alone often for months at a time. See the issue there? Who exactly could this information get repeated to. That is a basic part of security and for a Vivint rep to divulge that information is concerning and basically not safe. I have a sign at my residence that says no soliciting. Trespassing in Virginia means entering someone else's property without permission, or remaining on property after being told to leave. Being told to leave can occur through a variety of communications, including personal invitations, oral notice, or public signs. And if you are curious that is Virginia Code Section 18.2-119. Will you really take someone seriously trying to sell you something when they can't read an obvious sign? I unfortunately have to entertain foolishness on my job so not trying to entertain it on my off time. read more

I expressed that I was a single parent and could barely afford my current security system (ADT) $78, the rep who called me on FT from my moms phone told me he could take off $10 what I was paying and get me that doorbell camera I wanted ! I was super excited! fast forward a few months. I start to realize I'm getting 2 bills! one from vivint and one from fortiva. Now it's been 5 months and Ive been told I have to pay $88 for the actual equipment and $66 for Vivint just to monitor my activity. the cameras are good quality IF I HAVE WI-FI! so when im at home. the cameras do have clear quality but they randomly just go out or dont alarm. They used all my ADT equipment and say I have to pay $6000 to pay off the extra equipment they installed. The person installing the equipment told me he could add tge extra things no problem! One being a camera next to an already installed camera and a camera facing the abandoned house next door ( I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT!) i just want to see my Preschooler get on and off the bus with my elderly father. Fortiva refused to give me a supervisor and said they were all off. VIVENT HUNG UP ON ME 3 times within 2 hours! one rep even tried to add on some extra things that would ADD TO MY BILL! Vivint is predatory and deceptive. Their rep Peter Sevilla , showed up uninvited at 7 PM and the other guy didn't leave until after 11 PM, pressuring me into signing up for their service. He claimed I had a 30-day trial, but in reality, I only had 3 days to cancel. I made it crystal clear that I live in an apartment and that my fiancé is going into the military, so we wouldn't be staying long-term. They still locked me into a 5-year contract. I canceled less than two weeks later, thinking it would all be voided. But then they told me I was still stuck with a $4,208 equipment loan something that was never mentioned and never explained clearly. And worst of all? The customers service representative told me that if I canceled early, it would wipe everything clean no charges, no debt, no hit to my credit. That was a blatant lie. Now I'm being hounded for thousands of dollars on equipment I don't even want, from a loan I didn't knowingly agree to. Vivint refuses to take back the equipment or cancel the loan. Do not trust Vivint. Do not let them in your home. They use manipulative tactics to trap people into contracts and debt. If they send Peter Sevilla, shut the door. read more

So incredibly unethical and scammy. My elderly mom with dementia had a perfectly functioning ADT system that she was happy with. She had a Vivint door-to-door salesman show up and tell her she needed this new system (she didn't understand who he was or why he was there but apparently signed a contract) and he proceeded to add $3,700 worth of sensors etc (literally just above or next to her perfectly fine ADT equipment) and now she has to pay something like $138/month for the next five years plus the monthly service fee. That is nearly 20% of her Social Security income (her ONLY income!) going to Vivint each month. I'm planning to consult a lawyer. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. Serving in the military, told the salesman we were leaving soon and concerned about transitioning the service. Were assured it would be an easy transfer. Well, we contacted vivint to remove our name from the contract and were on the hook for a service cancellation fee and had to pay off the remaining balance on the equipment. This was going to cost us about $2100 before complaining and getting some fees removed. Seamless transition, right? Rocky Niger (salesman) is not to be trusted. the service does NOT WORK! but they will still charge you for the service that DOES NOT WORK! when you call to bring this to their attention they try to charge MORE to fix it. they refuse to help or do anything about it. i tried to cancel my service and they REFUSED to cancel my service because it DOESNT WORK! even admitting they could see all the issues our panel has been having and still REFUSING TO FIX IT. this company is 100% a scam, not worth your money or time. it's disgusting the way they acted when i wanted to cancel my service. i wouldn't recommend this company to my biggest enemy that is how terrible vivint is. please RUN TO ANY OTHER COMPANY! I NEVER write reviews but after THIS experience with Vivint, I felt compelled to write one. When the sales rep (Chris Marsch) came to my home, I told him I already had ADT and was under contract w/them for two addresses. He told me that Vivint could buy me out of those contracts & I wouldn't have a contract w/Vivint (just month to month). That should have been my 1st red flag but I continued to listen to his sales pitch. He explained how they had better cameras & they didn't use Wi-Fi. I told him the one thing that would be most important is that the outside cameras for both of my addresses needed to be able to detect pets because I need to be able to monitor my dogs when they are outside. He told me their cameras could do that. I told him I wasn't thrilled w/paying $45 more per month for Vivint equipment & service when I was satisfied w/what I had w/ADT so he said he would give me two months free service and a 30-day trial period to make a decision. So I decided to switch to Vivint. After installation of the equipment, I noticed that it was not detecting my dogs when they went outside so I contacted Vivint & explained that to them. The agent I spoke to told me the systems I had at both addresses did not have the pet motion sensors & I would need to add them to the systems. I had to pay $84.80 each BUT when the tech came to install them, he told me that the sensors Vivint have do NOT detect pets OUTSIDE & they ONLY detect pets INDOORS. So now I pissed because I have a system that doesn't do what I told the sales rep I needed it to do. So I text Chris Marsch & explain the situation & he doesn't respond. I wait a few days & text him again telling him that I just want to cancel my contract since I'm within the 30-day trial period & he doesn't respond yet again. So I call Vivint Customer Support & had to explain the situation probably six times to different agents whose solution was to offer me a $10 credit on my service for 12-months. In the meantime, they would contact the sales rep and request that he extend my grace period in order for me to cancel my contract. I said why would I need to extend the grace period when he told me I had a 30-day trial period? Anyway, their attempts to contact the sales rep failed which was very suspicious to me. I finally was able to speak with a Manager who told me once they contacted the sales rep it would be no problem canceling the contract. Now all of a sudden after Chris Marsch ignored my attempts to contact him via phone call/text messages, he responds to someone at Vivint & tells them that he never told me that he offered me a 30-day trial period. I forgot to mention that during all of this back & forth communication between myself & Vivint agents, I did receive the buyout for ONE of my addresses & texted Chris Marsch asking him about the buyout for my other address. His response was "We are working on buying them out" & that was on May 31st & I haven't heard anything else from him. DO NOT TRUST CHRIS MARSCH!!! This has been a TERRIBLE experience & I've only had Vivint for less than two months. read more

Why will you sale a system to a blind man that cannot see a tv screen. I told them to do nothing but tell my parents about the system. I need to be there for signing and setup. I figured that since they posted here and gave a number it would be a person who deals with these issues. No, it was a general number so I had to then explain my issue. Got passed around a few times and had to explain my issue over again and again. Finally the last guy I talked to said that he would pass along my info to the top dogs and they would review it and see if there was anything they could do. I'm not holding my breath. And to make matters even worse, I paid the $799 to buy out my contract and lo and behold they have debited my bank account for this month's payment! Gotta love a shady company. We've been with this company since they were known as APX. I called them today because we wanted to upgrade our equipment. I inquired as to whether or not we would get any kind of loyalty discount or military discount, the young lady tells me no the price is what it is. Wow! Over 22 years or more, and no discount! I am going to give a one star and that is being generous. When I first received my order; I received front and back outdoor cameras, doorbell with camera, and the nest. Each one of my cameras been offline since the third day of install, the adjunct wifi box constantly goes out, and the their customer service sucks. When you ask customers service to send a tech to fix the issues, oh yeah they charge you $50 for that...straight garbage. If you're thinking about this company; PLEASE LISTEN, don't waste your time nor your money. read more

Vivint came to my door unsolicited about 2 and a half years ago. They offered home protection for $70 a month which included 1 video camera and a key pad for the front door. Now you can get much cheaper service from other providers. Due to circumstances that were beyond our control we moved into a high rise apartment and needed to discontinue Vivint. Too bad! You're stuck with them for 5 years! Doesn't matter that our new apartment has security and will not allow us to bring the system. I'm told either continue to pay $70 a month for around 2 and a half years, or pay about $2,800 to get out of the contract, or find someone else stupid enough to pay $70 a month for what other companies offer for half that price. Boo to you Vivint for poor service and total inflexibility. I cannot give this company a low enough rating! read more
