Decent. That is the overall word everyone used to describe the pizzas we got from here. I had a cheese slice while waiting, there was an extra cheese with ricotta, a pineapple, and a shrimp Florentine (shrimp, spinach, garlic, white sauce). Plus a Mediterranean salad. I actually really enjoyed the Florentine and the salad, I'd go back for either. The crust is very middle of the road. Not thick or thin. There's no seasoning or flavoring of it, it's not wood or coal fired, brick ovened, nothing special about it. I did find it a little dense, however. We also found the red sauce to be pretty thin and tasteless, and the cheese lacked any pull. While waiting it seemed like most people were coming in for grinders, so I'll have to check those out in the future. In the end, a perfectly acceptable pizza, not too expensive, with a broad selection on the menu. read more

Popped back in today and tried the slices. The crust is more cracker like. Dry, but greasy at the same time. The sauce and cheese had good flavour, but I confess I miss a bready crust. Honestly I will keep searching for the perfect slice spot near work. The staff was still very pleasant. And the space is nice and well laid out for the size. Price was reasonable. (Less than $6 for two cheese slices and a beverage from the cooler.) read more

This is a good sandiwich place; possibly the best in norwich. I have been maybe 50 or 100 times. I recommend the italian grinder (possibly with added souy / sopressatta) toasted, the chicken cutlet add bacon, the chicken parm, etc. Further away you can also try salem prime cuts or press-on sandwich crafters, but locally, this is my go to. read more

I've frequented this home town establishment for over a decade and it is always consistent and has the friendliest staff. The bread for the sandwiches is worth the drive. The pizza is also very good, probably the best in Norwich. I love the smiling service, great food and hometown feel. If you haven't tried Vocs, give it a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Great little sub and pizza place for a quick, laid back meal. I asked for a recommendation and was pointed towards the grinders (Italian subs) and decided on the Italian. The bread was soft, yet still chewy and crusty on the outside. The veggies were fresh and they finely shred their lettuce which is pretty unique. The cold cuts were yummy too, strong flavors. They even put olive oil, salt, pepper, and mayo on it for me without charging me extra. The small grinder was definitely big enough to satisfy. They also have a new, large dessert selection including cannolis and different pies/tarts -- and gluten-free options which is refreshing. We had lunch here yesterday and I can't say that I am impressed. We had a small pepperoni pizza and garlic bread. I will start with the bad first. The garlic bread was okay. It was just the bread for a grinder with some butter and garlic, and I believe parsley on top. Not bad, but certainly nothing special. Now for the pizza. When we picked up the first slice all the toppings fell off. After a few minutes, this wasn't an issue really, but it still shouldn't happen. The pizza was very greasy. I understand it's a pepperoni pizza, but it was excessive. The taste was okay. Neither of us would say we liked it, but it wasn't terrible. The crust was pretty crispy, and the sauce was so-so. I think it actually tasted better microwaved later than fresh. If you eat inside they do not have fountain beverages, but you can get bottled drinks. There was some good to this visit. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff seemed pretty friendly. Service was pretty quick. Two hungry people could eat for under $10. I would return, but not for the pizza. The grinders sounded pretty good and I would like to try them. If you do stop in I would try a sandwich, not the pizza. read more

I have had a grinder from Voc's twice - the first time was a BLT. It had barely two slices of bacon on the small grinder. The second time (I like to give establishments two chances), I ordered four, 3-foot grinders for our historical society meeting. They cost $20 each. I ordered each of one veggie, turkey, ham and salami. Still, barely any meat! And the veggie was lettuce, tomato and cheese - that's it! I am so disappointed and will never go back. i ordered an meal of lasagna. the noodles were soggy, the sauce was watery and very bland and could not find one ounce of meat in it. just dreadful. just completely awful. worst lasagna i have ever had. i dont recommend eating here . just awful. read more

Voc's is a family owned establishment where now the 3rd generation runs this site. The hard grinder rolls are the best hands down. My brother from Texas always makes Voc's a stop when up for a visit. Try the Italian or Capicola. read more
