Nino's Pizza is my must-stop spot every time I'm in Uncasville. I only make it out here once a year in the summer, and grabbing a grinder from Nino's is always first on my list. The crew here is fantastic. They're friendly, quick, and every single time I've come in for carry-out, they've slipped me a little bite to try while I wait. Not sure if that's just how they treat everyone or if I've got a standing reservation for VIP treatment at this point, but either way, it's the kind of small touch that makes a place feel like home even when you're only passing through once a year. The grinders are consistently great, and honestly the food alone would keep me coming back - but it's the people that make Nino's stand out. Service is below standard, very busy with only one waitress or their young staff/Jayden lack skills to be attentive or listen to order. Food is okay but salads lack variety rather than crotons prefer roasted peppers or pepperochini and ala salmon too salty and very little meat not worth $23 their pizza is greasy and atmosphere can get loud. Ninos is a wonderful local spot. They offer pizza by the slice, big salads and delicious pasta dishes to name just a few of their items. They have good specials and do a wonderful job at providing food for larger orders (like parties). It really is a great option for a small or large order. Wasn't up to par today. Got a large buffalo chicken pie which was ok, just ok. But the Margherita pizza was not good. First of all it's supposed to have basil. That's part of the basic recipe. Someone forgot that. Not enough cheese and for the tomatoes it was as if somebody hand crushed tomatoes on top of it after it was done cooking. It was a soupy mess. Not far from Mohegan Sun casino in a nondescript strip mall, this place in my opinion has a good argument for the best pizza north of New York and New Haven, while offering great Arthur Avenue-ish Italian food. The food here is really quite good but any food that comes with lackluster service, is made less by the experience. A small pizza is typically a 15-20 minute wait. We're used to that, right? I phoned my order in at 5:16, the wait time given was 25-30 minutes. Longer than usual, but I can still work with that. I anticipate my order will be ready when I arrive at the aforementioned 30 minutes...it's not. It's only after I have paid (and no box presented) that the young woman at the counter tells me it will be 15 more minutes. Wait, what? Did I hear her correctly? I asked her if she'd said 15 minutes. She responds 'a few more minutes'. Ok, a few...I'm glad it's not going to be another 15 minutes. I'm thinking...3-4 minutes...you know, a 'few'. Here's when I begin to realize I've made a poor choice in coming to Nino's. The minutes continue to pass and still no order. I have another 17 minute wait from the time the transaction notification pings my phone to having the pie in my hand. 47 minutes for a SMALL pizza! I have to wonder if my order hit the oven as I walked in. In my opinion, good food alone isn't enough. How you treat people matters. THAT's where the rub is. My boyfriend and I go to Ninos pretty regularly on Monday nights, and we love it! We are always welcomed warmly when we walk in. Our go-to orders are the buffalo chicken pizza or the Grandma pizza, and they are both phenomenal choices. Melissa always takes great care of us, she's a fantastic server, and the young men who bus the tables and bring around boxes for leftovers and such are also pleasant and hardworking. Over the years Nino's food and service went down the drain. The complimentary "slice" of pizza they give when you order a large pizza became comically small, if they even gave you one at all, and this one particular guy behind the counter was always cold to borderline mean in his demeanor. I am a fan of pepper, onion, and black olive pizza and finally had to call them to address the issue of the pizza being so wet that the cheese and toppings outweighed the sopping, soaked crust, making it impossible to eat by hand (you know, how pizza should be eaten). This wasn't one time, it was a handful of times and an ongoing issue, and they had the audacity to tell me that that was too many veggies on a pizza. Weird, because every other pizza place I've been to is capable of making one that isn't disintegrating. They also frequently made pizzas that were too big to fit in the box, leading to receiving pizza that had a part of it folded over on itself. The final straw was when, on my birthday, they handed me the pizza I ordered to pick up and it had clearly been burnt to the point that they had cut off half of the crust. They didn't bother to tell me about their error, to offer a discount, to make me a new one. I can't believe they thought it was appropriate to even serve a customer that pizza, but clearly they didn't appreciate the business of a young couple that ordered a large pizza from the every Friday no matter how many times they goofed up. I simply accepted the message they were so clearly trying to give me and literally never bought a thing from them ever again after that. I can't believe I left a good review about Nino's up for so long and am here to finally amend it. Hopefully something has changed in the past few years since I stopped ordering from them, but I have serious doubts about that. They would have to give me a pizza for free to ever get me to eat a pie from them again because they did me dirty time after time without the slightest care. read more

Living in New York, you become spoiled and expect good pizza everywhere. Nino's met and exceeded my expectations and I left full and happy. It's a cute little shop, the wait staff is very attentive and it's obvious that they really care about their customer service! We got some beers, wings, and a cheese pizza to share, the pizza was halfway gone before I could get a picture of it! This place is great! The homemade sauces, The delicious food, the amazing service, portion sizes are great, and even the prices are good. You really can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu. I love the calamari piccante and the spinach wheel. Let's talk about the calamari, as you can see by the picture it was so delicious that we ate more than half of it before I took a picture. We were going to just grab one piece and then take a picture went all the food got there but it was so good that we didn't stop eating! It's a delicious homemade spicy marinara sauce. The calamari itself was very tender and had such a light breading on it is that you couldn't even really tell it had a coating at all by looking at it. The spinach wheel was much bigger than I thought it was going to be and I couldn't even finish half of it. The spinach wheel has sausage (sliced thin), pepperoni, spinach, and mozzarella. The pizza was really good as well, had a good flavor and a good crust. The only thing I didn't care for was the spaghetti because it didn't have as much flavor as the rest of the food. It's not a huge place but there's still plenty of seating inside and it's clean. Rae Rae is an awesome waitress! She knows the menu inside and out but more importantly she will make your visit fun. I really like this place- I forget about them when I'm looking for a local spot because for me they are a bit out of way. I've bever had a bad dish and their garlic knots leave you safe from vampires. The forcaccia app is carb heaven! The pasta fagoli def a go to I'm a soup lover and this is a winner. Lastly the Buffalo chicken pizza probably my number 2 favorite in area. Number one is another local Italian restaurant- though different crusts. This is more traditional- again- carb heaven.
