Italian sausage and mushroom Pizza is really great but with a side of marinara took it over the top,probably the best we had in a long time.

Tried the weekend buffet yesterday and was pleased to find a good selection of roasted vegetables, bacon, sausage and an egg frittata with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms I believe. Everything was delicious although I wish they had an egg only option. Didn't try the French toast, and the fruit could have been stored on some ice to stay cool, the watermelon and grapes were at room temp. All in all, it was good and would totally go back. read more

We used to order pizza from the Broadway restaurant. It was some of the best in town. We went to the new restaurant at McCullough and Hildebrand and the pizza was as good as it ever was. The dough is better than anything I've had anywhere else in town. I would definitely recommend this place. What I don't know is if they serve alcohol there. read more

This sure is a small pizza place. The fettuccine Alfredo pasta was alfredolicious! The form of the pizza my father ordered was crazy but amazing. My mother's pasta with the gnocchi was hot but yummy! The decor is a little tacky. But it sure hits the spot for italian fans. read more

Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. Excellent food. We've passed this place numerous times, since they bought the old Olmos Pharmacy and finally made it in. Napoli style supreme pizza is really good. It's currently a byob wine etc since they are waiting for their license. So bring your own and their is no corkage fee. Dinner was hopping and there were a quite a few families with their kids. Very family friendly. We will be back. read more

Place was nice , pizza was good until I noticed the front cook pull down his mask and started eating a slice of pizza. He pulled his mask back up never removed his gloves. Oh wait he then went to go get a fountain drink and then walked over and continued to cook With the SAME NASTY GLOVES. Never changed them once. My whole experience was yuck after that. Volaré Volare! Rating is based on service because we didn't get to dine in. We are huge fans of Volare on Broadway but their location is very small but we love their pizza. We were thrilled when the new location opened. To our sadness, we went on a Friday and we were told it would be a 20 min wait. We decided to wait along with others that were also waiting. Many parties were turned away at least we saw 8 parties because they were told there was an 1 hr wait. Well other parties were walking in and were immediately sat down. Did they have a reservation? Or were they known to the restaurant staff that they were sat? We don't know. We waited 45 minutes never offered a complimentary drink (I believe they have complimentary wine). Needless to say we decided to leave after waisting 45-50 min waiting. No acknowledgement from the staff whatsoever. It is a shame that we experienced this, we were so excited and sadly now we don't have the desire to go back. My observation while waiting forever for a table was that the staff left people standing for long periods without any acknowledgement. Staff needs work on this. Best of luck! read more

This place is a joke. Get it out of this neighborhood. Have some respect for the pharmacy. I've gone three times. First time ordered two pastas. Under reduced sauce. Over cooked pasta. Second time, Cheese and crust questionable. We asked the server if the cheese was hand pulled and if the oven was fire brick. He said both to yes. I've been three times. Haven't seen a brick oven and cheese is definitely not fresh so why lie? Third time, called to see if they serve by the slice. Girl who answered said "idk" and told me to come in. Being a neighborly patron, I did. I waited at the front to order and although there were 3 servers hanging around a computer (in an empty restaurant) no one attended to me. So I left and shopped around the area. Came back and no one responded again. Finally a girl came and could not answer any of my very simple questions (is there a lunch special, how much for a slice, is it carry out or dine in only...etc...) she couldn't not answer anything. I paid and she quick changed me. When I asked for the rest of my change she rolled her eyes in frustration because she could not open the register. Volare is a classic family pizza place. It is understated and is in the historic Olmos Pharmacy building. I used to get milkshakes here when I was 5, now in my 30s, I can get great pizza at a good price. Occasionally they will have live music and it makes the ambiance perfect. read more

Had dinner with my family Monday night. It was 4th time since they opened. Great Pizza! Eggplant parmesan is also great. They struggled a bit the couple of weeks. They were short on staff. We waited about 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us. After they acknowledged us we waited another 15 minutes to be seated. After we were seated another 10 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink and another 30 minutes for them to come and take our order. It was a waste of time and the food was awful. Doing the whole time there, the waiter only came by once and asked how was our food. During this time me and my daughter were in the restroom so I didn't get to tell him how cold the beef raviolis were. Super hot on the outside but super cold on the inside. Therefore that tells me that they just reheated the raviolis. Once a waiter came and we were pretty much done, I didn't eat anything because he didn't come during our dining I told him about the raviolis and he said "do you want me to add them that way you can take them home "I then told him why would I take them home ? I wanted to eat them here so no I don't want them." They didn't charge me for the raviolis but the experience there was awful . They kept checking on everyone but us. I will never go back. read more

Service was completely unacceptable. Husband & I had been looking forward to eating here, we finally had a open evening & decided at last minute to try it. I saw online that you could make reservations so booked it. Right away I was called to verify the reservation for 2. Impressed. We arrived at 8:20pm Friday night. As we walked in I saw the amount of empty tables & whole group of servers standing at the corner counter. We were not greeted right away, took about 5 mins before being acknowledged, she asked how many I stated 2, as she walked away ,I responded we do have a reservation. She walked to the first table raised her voice across the room asking what my name was, I yelled back & she motioned to sit here. I don't think I will have much more space to complete how bad the service was. From all the servers standing in the corner behind the pick up counter eating with their fingers & serving plates!! To us being forgotten. 3 servers it took to serve 2 people 2 plates of Lobster Ravioli & water. The final server who finally noticed tried to correct the whole situation but at this point I was over it. Ravoli was not worth the wait, presentation was lacking or they just threw it on plate once the knew we were forgotten. She did offer us complimentary dessert. My husband ordered gelato to go. The gelato is the reason for 2 stars. read more

I would not consider this to be a Real Italiano Pizzeria. The beverages available were Water and Iced Tea. The Wine from B.J.'s next door was good, even considering the $4 uncorking fees, in the alternative Volare offered only iced tea or water. No beer ! The Classic Lasagna which I ordered had the pasta texture of boot leather and probably pork fillings. It had either been irradiated in a microwave and / or sat in an oven too long. My wife's pizza had big chunks of Italian Sausage which could have been Jimmy Dean's Breakfast sausage based on the taste and texture. In conclusion this place is a very poor San Antonio representation of an Italian restaurant. I would sooner eat at Domino's or Jims's or WhatABurger ! I am not going back nor would I would recommend it to others until the owners get an Italian chef, an Italian kitchen and some Italian beverages !
