Picked up a pizza and some pasta today for dinner. The pizza smelled so good, my son took out a piece and ate it on the way home. Delicious, crisp crust. Sauce and cheese were a beautiful combination. Alfredo fettuccine with chicken was superb. Just enough homemade sauce with freshly grilled chicken. This is a great small italian food pizza spot the bread with garlic butter is fantastic. The pizza varieties are delicious. I've been coming on an off since the 2000s on of my favorite items of the past was the mama meatball a closed Stromboli like pocket. As a local resident I would highly recommend this place to all other locals and visitors. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants, I've been here about 3 times and try something different every time. I always start with the meatballs as an appetizer. They are a good size and enough to share for two. Absolutely delicious. Pasta is good as well as the pizza. Finish off with their gelato, they have many flavors to choose from..soo good. Tiramasu is my favorite flavor. Ok so the best part about this place is its BYOB! Last time I went they offered complimentary wine..wasn't too Crazy about the taste of their free wine, I usually bring my own bottle. My favorite dish so far is the meatballs. Best pizza in all of San Antonio. Maybe even all of Texas although I haven't eaten every pizza in the state. The crust reminds me of those pizzas you get on cruise ships so light and yummy. They use top notch ingredients including real mozzarella cheese. Do yourself a favor and look these people up and treat yourself to a great meal. My wife got a Caesar salad and Chicken Gorgonzola Pasta. It was so good according to her ( she only allowed me to taste one piece of pasta) that she kept umming all throughout her meal. We are very happy to have found this place and till we move on from here in May we will be going back many more times. Well Done! I also would like to shout out to Katharine our wait staff person. This young lady was running all over making sure her customers had what they needed. Always with a great smile even though you know she was stressed to be everywhere at the same time. First time going to new place on McCullough at the site of historic pharmacy. They made good use of the inside and fountain. Had music and ambiance great for Friday night out. I love the pizza with bubble up slightly burnt crust. Good. Other Italian dishes looked good too. Tables set with water and wine glass. Quite an upgrade from their other location. Staff plenteous and attentive. I made online reservations requesting time and my order. Finally tried Volare after driving past it multiple times, and it did not disappoint! A little expensive, but well worth it. The cheese ravioli was a perfect portion size, and the sauce was so flavorful. The lasagna classico was very cheesy and filling! Not pictured was vodka sauce pasta, which had incredible sauce. One of the best vodka sauces I have ever tried! The complementary bread was also very good and you could tell it was freshly baked! Will be going back soon read more

Did not even tell us of the specials or try to recommend certain items as this was our first time. I had a caesar salad and Fettuccine Alfredo. The caesar dressing was weak and I could not taste it. They don't have any peppermills either. The Fettuccine Alfredo sauce was very thin and did not have a lot of flavor. Their little if no parmesan cheese which could have thickened the sauce. We stopped in yesterday for dinner after a long day, girl behind counter says sit anywhere you like. We are heading to a table when another girl comes darting out of the kitchen waving her hand, asking are you here to pick up an order? We say no, she says, sorry we are not seating anymore. We ask why?! She says they are getting ready to close! We say it's 7:40pm, you close at 8! She says sorry, we are only taking carry out. She was rude and no manager was on duty to speak to! Volare embarrassed themselves. That's the best way to describe our treatment. Initially, we were excited to try the restaurant! That quickly changed. No idea what happened (because no one bothered to explain) but we waited over an hour without food. We paid our bill and went down the road where we had a better/faster experience. I would like to think that Volare was just having a bad night but I have since learned that isn't true. In addition to paying for the bill (despite the inconveniences), we weren't given an explanation on what happened. Worst of all, we weren't given an apology. There is no way that this place will last unless the prices are adjusted. I guarantee that the "word of mouth" reviews that spread exponentially are keeping people away. Visited for the first time during lunch. Service was good. Prices seem fair overall but the pizza lunch special priced at $6 is awesome! 2 slices with one topping and a salad. The creamy Italian dressing is full of Italian herbs, like an Italian ranch. The pizza crust is thin, not crunchy. Plenty of cheese. The pepperoni caused a bit of grease pooling but didn't bother me. My friends had the spaghetti and meatballs and they were delicious as well...I'm pretty picky about meatballs only eating my own or my mom's as I don't like them smushy or tough.
