This NEW spot is one of our favorite sushi spots and certainly our #1 favorite Volcano Sushi spot in the metro. We were excited when this location opened in central Edmond. This location is the cutest of them all. It's got that cozy Japanese tea house vibe that totally nails the new standard aesthetic for Japanese dine-in. You walk in and immediately feel like you've made a good Friday or Saturday night life choice, lol. The food is classic Volcano Sushi goodness. Always fresh + tasty, and consistently satisfying. We've had a few ups and downs with service, but nothing dramatic--just the usual bumps that come with today's restaurant world. Honestly, the whole industry feels like it's running on caffeine and good intentions, and we're here for it. No stars deducted. Best date night menu option that won't break the bank is the sushi for two since it's one of the more budget friendly sushi menu options. When the sushi craving hits, this spot is definitely on our shortlist. We have been here twice so far. They got tatami room. Food is not bad for the cost, not top quality fish, but you get what you pay for. It won't break your bank. This was a great place! When you walk in there are tables where you can sit like a traditional Japanese seating area. The staff were okay, not overly friendly and not rude. The food was good. A new favorite spot for Japanese cuisine in the area! Our group enjoyed a lovely dinner here before heading across the street to the UCO Jazz Lab, such a convenient location. We sat in the traditional Japanese-style dining room (shoes off!), which added a special touch to the experience. I had the Japanese fried rice and a tempura shrimp and crab sushi roll (forgot the actual name of the roll)...both were delicious. I've heard great things about their hibachi dishes, too. Already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of the menu! read more

Volcano Sushi is very cute and comfy when you come in. We were seated promptly and the server was very polite. I got the hibachi lunch with 2 meat, steak and shrimp, fried rice and a salad. The salad was crisp and light with the classic ginger dressing was classic. It came with 4 bites of steak and 3 shrimp, fried rice and veggies. My lunch was good. Another got the bento lunch with spicy California rolls, chicken teriyaki, rice, salad and soup. She did not realize you had to specify for the clear soup and was brought miso soup. Not a fan of the soup. The sushi was good along with the chicken however she would do all sushi next time. While we did not go hungry, it was just okay. We may not choose to go there on our own, we would meet someone there if they picked it. read more

I have been to the MWC location for lunch so I was eager to try dinner in the new Edmond location. Since I have only had the lunch bento box, I wanted to try numerous items. The server brought a small amount of edamame as a complimentary starter. It was tasty. We had the steamed shrimp potstickers and one pork bun. Both just okay. I would not order again. For the main meal, we shared the chicken and shrimp hibachi and a sushi roll with red snapper. Both of the items were great and exactly why we will be back. read more

This location outshines the Norman location by miles! First impressions of the interior are they attempt to offer a serene Japanese tea house feel and they succeed. Reminiscent of Awaji Izakaya, but better views. The 10- to 15-year-old pop music was the only variant from the theme. The server was prompt, polite and checked on us several times during our lunch. The menu is extensive, and we had a tough time choosing since everything looked/sounded delicious. The presentation of our selections was very appealing. The Gyoza app was better than most with plentiful filling and a plummy sweet sauce for dipping. My wife graciously shared a piece of her Dragon roll which had slight sweet notes. However, the flavor of the avocado, roe and Tuna came through just fine. My Curry Udon soup was a standout on a cold afternoon. The tempura shrimp was larger than expected and had all the right flavors and crispiness. The soup was served in a clay pottery bowl which retained the heat throughout the meal. The broth was a perfect spicey blend of curry, chicken stock and veggies. I saw and tasted chicken, celery, carrots, red bell peppers, onions and maybe a little cabbage. The noodles were also perfectly cooked. We plan to try other highly rated sushi houses, but I believe we will be comparing all others against our outstanding experience at Volcano Sushi. read more

Mmmm...we've been to the other Volcano locations and had good luck. Not sure what's going on here. The ambiance was good although it seems very crowded. The tables are a bit small and close but it's not bad and the chairs were comfortable. They have some tables that can be closed off if you want privacy which is nice. The food though, needs some work. Especially the take out. If the dish is majority rice as is the case with fried rice dishes, I truly expect a lot of food for $15. I know food costing. If I order a combo fried rice and end up with 2oz of chicken, 2oz of beef, and two little shrimp I want to know how that adds up to a $15 meal! I can get more meat plus two sides at Texas Roadhouse for that price. The sushi we ordered was okay. We had a couple of hibachi meals and they were okay, the other locations, however, do a far better job. Perhaps this crew is new and still finding their groove? I don't know but I think I'll pass on it next time. I certainly will not be doing take out from here. read more

The sushi was fantastic! We tried several rolls, and everyone left their chopsticks in approval. We asked if the salmon was wild, but the staff looked at us like we asked if it had a criminal record. I had the Japanese fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp were impressively big--like they worked out--but there were only five of them, like they came as a tiny entourage. My friend had the yakisoba with chicken, which was delicious but portioned for someone who ate before they arrived. The plum wine? A+--sweet enough to make you forget about the shrimp shortage. The best part? The vibe! You take your shoes off and step into a private booth with cushions. It's like dining in a Netflix Zen episode, except with better food and less meditation. read more

Took my family there for my daughter's birthday. The food was very good on top of really good service. The big winner was the experience of the room that we got. We requested a booth where you could take your shoes off and sit and they close the doors on you so you have a private dining experience. It doesn't cost extra you just have to reserve it. My only annoying factor was the people to our left were quite loud, but there are people being people having a good time. I can't really knock that. It's my own personal experience that it affected but if you don't let the stuff like that get to you it was Amazing. read more

We have been consistent visitors of Volcano Sushi Bar & Hibachi on 5th street. Must say that we always enjoy our meal. There are plentiful options that are suited for pallets of all kinds. Uniquely, the Shumai appetizer is our favorite, and many Sushi Restaurants tend to be missing this one. Our service is always above average and the customer care/concern is valued. Our food comes out quick and always correct with well timed checkins to make our experience even more wonderful. If you get the opportunity to eat in one of the rooms, i would highly recommend. Just make sure you have your best socks on! The environment is welcoming and authentic, if you sit at the bar, cooks rolling sushi typically crack a joke or two and sometimes deliver a complimentary food item. GOD DAYUM that Hawaii roll is GOOD. Good vibes and great specialty sushi, especially if you're not a big fan of classic raw sushi.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and a tasteful photo-menu got us off on the right foot immediately. Reasonable prices and a great selection kept the good times rolling. When there was a problem with my order, is the staff was very attentive and fixed it immediately- nobody is perfect, so I think you really see what a place is made of when there is a mistake.
