An old school "Full Service" Building Supply Center/specialty Hardware store exists at Volko Supply Co. Inc. located at 205 Herricks Road in Garden City Park, NY. Now homeowners can actually shop where Contractors/Home Improvement professionals go to purchase Building Materials. These folks are also FFL Gun Dealers that assist customers with the purchases/sales of guns. I've been dealing with Volko Supply Co., specifically Ron, since 2007. He is a true consummate professional who's lengthy experience and extensive knowledge are not just helpful to the customer, but a quite impressive learning experience to all that wish to absorb it. Who remembers when in the film, "Miracle on 34th Street" 1947, the store's Kris Kringle/as well as the actor playing R. H. Macy refers customers to Gimbels for items they do not carry at Macy's? Well, this sales philosophy is actually still in practice at Macy's, and Volko Supply Co. Inc. uses the same "Link Economy Sales Philosophy". I've actually witnessed Ron at Volko Supply Co. My wife and I are homeowners and we have used Volko Supply Co. for decades. No matter what it is we are buying, be it a roll of twine or a new slate roof (which is our most recent purchase and this is the second house for which we have bought a roof from Volko) the people at Volko are always willing to give advice and guidance patiently and without limitation. They always answer all our (at times endless) questions fully and helpfully and further explain their answers if we ask them to do so. We have always been happy with their advice and what they have recommended has always served our purpose well. Their prices are better than reasonable and we never feel under any pressure to make a purchase. Each time we step inside the store both my wife and I feel that we are visiting an old friend for a discussion of whatever it is we are looking to do and how best to do it. He was sure they would have the fiber siding I was looking for to patch around my new windows... and you know what my uncle was right! Around 1972 I went with my father to purchase siding shingles and aluminum trim. Last summer I saw that the wood under trim had rotted. Went back to Volko Supply for a small trim purchase. I was amazed to see that their great service and help was still there. Not exactly knowing what I was doing, I was guided without feeling like I was annoying them, or that I was an idiot. I was helped by the people there and was treated professionally and courteously. The products offered are of course top products. No pressure during discussion of what to do and what to buy. I've worked with this crew a few times over the years and every time a need arose,,, they resolved it. Oh, did I mention how well the product I bought (a Chim-a-lator) works!! Unlike most of us, over the past 30 years both in my urban "brickstone" home in Park Slop Brooklyn NY and in my current home in N.C. I've had and operated a wood heating appliance. This Chimney Cap has proved to be the best option for the task of controlling and maximizing the amount of heat I'm able to receive from a wood fire in my fireplace. I am a design builder that completed a project two years ago using a product that I was I was unfamiliar with from a company I trusted. Unfortunately, it has been a two-year struggle to get the fireplaces operational.The original vendor was absolutely useless. I use the Internet constantly for sourcing products for clients. We needed 3 new underground garbage cans and Volko Supply Co. could not have been more helpful and pleasant when selling us the cans. Then the true test of great customer service: Our house is owned by an LLC and bills for the house need to be paid with our LLC credit card. I made a mistake and paid with our personal credit card. For my records, I asked if they would cancel the first payment and credit the amount to that card and then re-do the charge using the LLC card. AND I asked for a new invoice made out to the LLC....all plenty of extra work for them -- but they did it without a single complaint. 5 stars!!!! read more

It was very easy to order our chimney cap on their website. We reached out to them on the phone for advice and they were extremely helpful and personable. The chimney cap arrived when they said it would, just as promised. Their billing was accurate and they turned out to be about 15% cheaper than other companies.
