$5 for a waffle...$5 for a damn WAFFLE! I don't know much about waffles, but that waffle isn't worth $5. For $5 you get a small waffle sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. For $6-7, you can pile extra fixins on it. I thought Belgian waffles were supposed to be light and airy, but the waffle was neither. It's pretty dense with a crispy outside. And maybe it was because we tried it at one of the SactoMoFo events, but they pre-cooked the waffles and placed them back on the waffle griddle to reheat it to serve faster. Not sure if this affected taste much, but it was an OK waffle. Nothing spectacular. read more

I really hate to give them just 4 stars because their waffles are so dang good. However, for the price and quality of toppings I removed a star. Yes, this was one of the most sweet delicious waffles I've enjoyed; but for 7.50 the bitter strawberries, melted whipped cream, freezer burnt ice cream, and tiniest drizzle of not nutella (its definitely chocolate syrup) is so not worth it. If you do get to enjoy Volks be minimalist, because the works toppings just get in the way. read more

It is a bit pricey for a waffle, but considering that it has to travel to people, I'd say it's worth it...especially when you take a bite! It is so good! I've passed the red Volkswagon many times as a regular at the midtown farmers market, but never tried the waffles...until yesterday. My husband and I got the chocolate dipped waffle with strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar and Carmel sauce. It did not disappoint! It was fluffy, sweet and all kinds of delicious. This is a great spin on what it means to be a food truck. Converting an old Volkswagen Bus into a mobile waffle stand is genius. I had the pleasure of grabbing The Most Wanted waffle during SactoMoFo 6, and it was amazing! The fresh made waffle that was sweet, but not overly sweet, and went great with the strawberries and whip cream on top. We recent had VolksWaffle cater an event at my office. I can start by saying the quality was far better than expected. (Not that I had a low expectation but wow) These waffles were made with dough instead of batter which gave a consistency similar to a doughnut. The toppings complemented the waffle perfectly. Organic ripe fruit, whipped cream, powdered sugar and a liquid Nutella drizzle. Whether you are looking for sweet or savory it is a must have if you are in the area. The so-called "Belgian" waffles in the US AREN'T - and we became addicted to the genuine dough-based Belgian waffles during our trips to Belgium (where they have several waffle varieties, none made from batter that I can recall). So there we were at Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights when we spotted the Volks Waffle, and it looked like GENUINE Belgian waffles! Sure enough, these gaufres de chasse (as they call them in Liege) hit the mark! Admittedly pricier than regular batter-based waffles, but made with imported dough from Belgium and the included sweetness from the pearl sugar in the dough. Perfect texture and flavor, just like in Liege. Load them up with toppings as you like - Nutella, mmm! - and you will enjoy the true Liege gauffre experience! The gentleman that called me to follow up about my online inquiry was very rude and unprofessional. A person who is inquiring about the business would not know to include toppings and minor details to get pricing. That is your job to provide the customer information about your business so we can make an education selection. I was hung up on at the end of the phone call which is shocking that business owners feel that is acceptable. No matter how good the product is, I will not work with them because of the first and last impression on me. These are exactly like the famous Wafles and Dinges cart in New York that I fell in love with. I am so excited that there is something like it here at home in Sacramento! The secret ingredient is the pearl sugar that is in these waffles--it makes the waffles almost caramelized and delicious. I've been wanting to try one of these waffles for a long time, but somehow it just didn't ever work out. I was elated to see the super cute truck at the Aftershock concert & I immediately sent my bf over to grab a waffle for us to split. I told him to get whatever kind he wanted & he brought back a waffle topped with a slab of ice cream, strawberries, nutella, & whipped cream! That waffle was easily the best I have ever had. It was heaven in my mouth! I normally eat super slow, but we were standing in the Drewski's line inhaling that waffle! The crunchy bits of sugar in the waffle were great & all the toppings were delicious. It was pretty incredible. The price wasn't too bad either. Night market street vendors are the best thing about travelling. So I was pretty excited to hear about a roving waffle guy. I guess RRW is is what passes for street food in Sac. This is as close as its going to get. More fair food-ish, partially because the red VW they make and sell the waffles from is a little posh for a street vendor. Also, the waffles are three bucks. The waffle itself has a slight crunch on outside with a little caramelized sugar taste and gooey dough on the inside. Powdered sugar too. I've a feeling it'll be a much better snack in the winter. I'd give it a shot if you're out there on second Saturdays. read more
