I always order something sweet and savory for breakfast. Decided on the churro pancake combo. Came with eggs and choice of protein. I got both bacon and sausages. Love this spot for brunch! While the parking lot is on the smaller side, there are plenty of tables available inside. The menu is adorable--it features a cute little rooster that looks like Hei Hei from Moana! I ordered the banana walnut pancake combo with sausage and eggs, along with a coffee. Had a wonderful time dining here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with my partner! Tucked away in sacramento, it's a restaurant with lots of personality and great food! Easy to make reservations the day before It doesn't look like much from the outside and parking was packed, but we seemed to get there right at the right time (10:30am on a Saturday) as a few people were leaving. There is a check-in iPad when you walk up, its cute and quaint inside. The menu had so many options and seems they may change their mimosa menu monthly. My cousin got a sweet and savory plate (#3) - but it seemed to be a lot smaller portion than expected. I got the biscuits and gravy. We didn't have to wait too long and food and service was good. We drove by this place in the last morning and decided to give it a shot since the place looked fun and festive. As soon as you walk in, it is clearly a fun atmosphere where the mimosas come in several fun flavors (each with a Greek mythology theme). For food, we got: 1. Fearless Burger: Loved it! A patty of half beef and half chorizo mixed together on a toasted to perfection brioche bun. Sauced with a spicy aioli sauce, it is a "YUM"! 2. Chicken Fried Steak: This was good but definitely felt like not "make from scratch." It was good, but not anything amazing. 3. We like going here for a cozy brunch. I recommend joining the waitlist asap because it can get pretty busy - especially if you're going on a holiday like Mother's Day! They always have great cocktail options (even flights to try their featured drinks!) Food is typical diner food, but I'd rather support a woman owned small diner than a chain! I was really craving pancakes and the chocolate chip pancakes hit the spot. They weren't too busy so the waitress was able to check in on us frequently. Man this place brought back so many great memories of when I was a kid. This location was home to Eggie's, a spot my mom and I would frequent. Living in the area for almost 9 years, and only once I moved elsewhere, I tried this establishment out. Shame on me! There was a fair amount of parking, but can imagine with a packed house, it might be an issue due to its location. I arrived around 745am on a weekday and there were already a decent amount of people seated. I was greeted and seated right away. Prior to looking over the menu, the server quickly asked if I would like any beverages or coffee which I appreciated. They brought it very quickly. Decor wasn't anything too flashy. I ended up getting the mother clucker. Loved it! The servings was very generous, and the server frequented re-pouring coffee - score! If I had to guess I would think that it would we like this every weekend. Crowd. The close quarters and number of tables made the restaurant a very loud place.It was difficult to have a conversation with the person that you're sitting across from. Parking over here is also very sparse. The food is ok....pancakes are a bit dense and chewy....steak was a bit chewy as well, though we'll seasoned. Everything else we had was very good. Too legit! I ordered a breakfast pizza which cost about $18 and had a coffee for about $4.50. To be honest, both were fantastic. The drip wasn't bitter and the breakfast pizza was like another level of breakfast burrito or whatever. Drizzle some hot spice on that baby and you'll be full for most of the day. They have a private parking lot which had a ton of parking. The service was fantastic as well, very attentive and offered fantastic conversation. The food did come out before my coffee, which was a bit strange, but with how busy it was, I didn't mind. The food was pretty good. I think there could have been a bit more flavor from the chorizo, but I really enjoyed all the toppings and the portion sizes. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast and the breakfast sausage links were amazing. The mimosa's are top tier. The country potatoes were very well seasoned and the egg whites were cooked to perfection. A cozy, welcoming ambience greets you as soon as you walk through the door. There was only one waitress on shift early in the morning when we came and she was fantastic and very warm. We were able to choose any table to sit at, and the menus were already laid out for us. I decided to order the chip & cheep, which were grits served with bacon, eggs your way, and toast. The waitress also asked me if I wanted additional cheese melted into my grits but I thought that would just be overdoing it so I opted for the regular butter that it came with. The grits were hot, creamy and a great comfort food item. The bacon was salty and crispy, my over easy eggs were made perfectly and the sourdough I got was thick and soft, perfect for dipping into my yolk. Sacramento has some of the most adorable places to eat. Searching yelp for places that have gluten free options this one popped up. We found this restaurant adorable. We were welcomed immediately upon walking in, sat and had our drinks within 2 minutes. The longest part was us deciding what we would be trying. The menu is filled with so many options with clever and unique names. The vibe of this place is country with a sense of humor. I absolutely love it! I ordered the breakfast pizza ... amazing flavor! The scrambles and hamburger steak breakfast were also a hit! However I have to say that the gluten free pancakes were the highlight here! I always love a restaurant that provide a dietary alternative to those people especially our kiddos who cant eat off the regular menus. The only reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of Kellen(?). He's a super sweet, empathetic, and kind young man. He checked on us several times & asked me again how's everything when I was waiting in line at the bathroom. Another incident was when he went after the folks who left their food behind. I think most kids his age wouldn't know what to do or even cared to bring the food to them. His parents raised him well. Now to our server and food. I won't mention her name because maybe she had a bad day or something else is going on with her life. I get that they're busy, but she looked like she hated her job. She didn't smile once. What was most disappointing was when we showed her the molded raspberries that were in one of the mimosa. She didn't apologize at all. All she said was, "ok," and grabbed the molded berries away. If she was empathetic about what happened, I wouldn't be writing this review but her action on how it was handled needs to be addressed. Now onto the food. I won't speak on behalf of the other 8 in our party, but I will review on mine. I got the chicken wings and waffle. The waffle tasted like cardboard. It was so dry, even the syrup couldn't fix it. The wings were mini party wings, bland & dark! I'm not sure if it's from the seasoning or old oil but they were toasted. I mean, is that why the place is called Toasted Rooster? Today is my step daughter's 21st birthday and we really wanted to like this place and make it a memorable brunch. The highlight of the visit was definitely the lavender drink I ordered (wish I could remember the name!) it was really good and stood out as the best part of the experience. The breakfast burrito I ordered was a bit soggy and just overall underwhelming, not bad, but nothing I'd come back for. We ended up sitting at the bar due to a long wait for a table, which was fine, I actually enjoy bar seating. The spot appears to be family-run, and one of their kids was helping out, which I thought was really sweet. I respect that kind of small-business energy and give them credit for that. I always say you should try everything twice... so while this first visit didn't wow me, I might give it another shot someday. The food is always great, which is why I keep coming back. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing when I dine alone. The first few times I visited with someone else, the service was good. However, this is not the first time I've been left waiting and forgotten about when dining by myself. On this visit, I waited over 30 minutes just to receive water, a menu, and basic service, while customers who arrived after me were already ordering, eating, and receiving their drinks. My food didn't come out until about an hour later, around the same time those customers were already leaving. I had to go to the counter multiple times just to ask for things, and I wasn't acknowledged until about the fifth time I went up. Even after my food arrived, I still had to get up to ask for syrup, water, straws, to-go boxes, and eventually my check. As a fellow waitress, I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially family-oriented ones. However, basic customer service and attentiveness are still important. It's difficult to feel comfortable leaving a good tip when the service is consistently this poor, despite the excellent food. read more
