We were out for a drink with our 21 year old. She wasn't sure yet what she would like. The waitress was fantastic! She asked her a few questions on what flavors she liked, and types of alcohol, and made a recommendation that nailed it! Very fun night, would definitely return!

Fun bar little bar. Great drinks, the two drinks I remember getting were The Drunks who stare at goats, Arnies palm tree and possibly I'm not salty you are. The bad also had board games available to play.

Excellent ambiance, interesting and delicious cocktails, great service from an attentive and engaging bartender. The bartender recommended a new rye whisky that will definitely be on our radar. Every time we are here the menu cocktails are new and interesting. We also got a dinner recommendation for Wooden City, which was absolutely fabulous and we enjoyed very much.

I stopped in here for New Year's Eve and had a blast. It was jam-packed but eventually we were able to grab a spot. The drink combinations were unique and fun, I loved the free popcorn in the back with different toppings to choose from and I liked the decor as well as the overall ambiance.

Went to check out the Christmas menu and theming and I loved it! Drinks were great, service was spectacular given how crowded it was, and the decor was awesome! I had two drinks, the Yippee Ki Yay Mother F****r! and the Christmasaurus, and while both were delicious, the Yippee Ki Yay was my favorite.

5 stars because finally a bar that is happening in downtown Spokane, and even happening on a Monday night. She, especially 5 stars, because everybody seemed to be having a good time. Bar tender clearly knows his craft and somehow kept up. They didn't have much in the way of beer and cider, and their signature cocktails were a bit too over the top for me. But, I would definitely come back.

This was the first bar I went to in Spokane and this was the best one by far. It's a cozy bar tucked away in downtown Spokane with some bar top seating and some long communal tables. There are some board games for people to play as well. My first drink was the gin rummy ($14) which is very much like a last word if you've ever had that. You can taste the green chartreuse and the lime and green apple are very refreshing. My second drink was the where the watermelon grows ($12) which is so refreshing and bright. It's tart from the lemon juice but even more so from the watermelon basil shrub which they make in-house. My third drink was the aperol of my rye ($12) which is as its name suggests: very aperol and rye forward. The last drink I had was the oaxacan on the moon ($12) which was smoky from the mezcal and herbaceous from the green chartreuse. From the ingredients in the cocktails I can see that this place is every forward and innovative in the craft cocktail scene. Noah, one of the amazing bartenders, was creating new cocktails for people to try during my time there and even had me taste one of them. Note that a non-cash payment means a 3.5% convenience fee. This place was so good that I came back again in the night which had a totally different vibe from the early evening. It was packed and more busy but I preferred the more chill and quiet vibe so I would go back when it's less busy and more intimate. This is such an awesome place!

Small, intimate atmosphere. Very creative cocktail menu with the ability to have bartenders make you a drink if you give them some preferences on liquor, etc.. About $13-15 a drink. They also serve Miller high life which seemed to be a crown favorite.

We choose this bar because it's in Ceasars Rewards Market Restaurants. Earing $1 per 1 point for Ceasars Rewards. Noah is a really great bartender & he has good pouring technique. He recommended the house cocktails. The drinks were refreshing & tasty. A gin & tonic was $6.50 & house cocktails are $13 & up. There is an amazing liquor selection of some great top shelf & unique brands. They also have complimentary popcorn with different seasoning salts. Good location too. Would definitely come back to Volstead.

Not a craft cocktail bar in spite it's speakeasy advertising style. Had to chase down our waitress twice for bad old fashioneds. Go for a beer and a board game and have great fun, but skip the mixed drinks. read more

Classy place. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff. Excellent cocktails. I tried several cocktails from their menu. they were all delicious. when I ordered a "girly" drink, the bartender tried to make it look manlier. what a good guy! I appreciated that. not that I care about that kind of thing. it was just nice to have a bartender looking out for my best interests. Mike was his name. Excellent beard, totally didn't have a mullet, tied an excellent knot in his tie, and when I asked if anyone tells him he looks like a certain celebrity he was a good sport about it even though I am sure it gets old. read more

We were standing outside at 3:10-they are supposed to open at 3:00. There was someone behind the bar that could see we were trying to open the door and he did not do a thing-just stared at us. Amending my review-once we did get in the drinks were amazing. read more

My first experience here was something special but I wanted to wait until I had frequented more often. The mixology craze has really taken off the last couple years but that doesn't always mean the drinks are actually good. That being said Volstead is on par! The bartenders are very knowledgeable and consistent. The drinks are by far the best in Spokane compared to the other "real" cocktail bars such as Bon Bon (which I also think is great) and The Press (which I enjoy). Atmosphere is more on the professional side which is appropriate since they are downtown. It's on the more expensive side but you're getting more than a miller lite haha read more

Service is great, the drinks are upbeat and new, I enjoy spending time with co-workers after work relaxing. And the best part is the crowd is 25-45, not a lot of young kids hangout here. read more

Let me start off by saying that the drinks at Volstead Act were amazing, enjoyed greatly by both myself and my friends. However, I'm giving a one-star review because there was a very inappropriate show being played on the widescreen TV when we were there. The show had nude people, sex scenes, and explicit, crude language throughout the whole thing. We asked the bartender to change the show but he did not. For a place whose decor and drinks are striving to be classy and high-quality, playing such a graphic show was incredibly unprofessional, distasteful, and off-putting. I am disappointed that such a seemingly fantastic bar tolerates such unsuitable media on display for all customers. read more

Very cool little spot, quite and well decorated-a lot of personality in a smaller space. Craft cocktails are always fun and are done well here! The old standards are good too (dirty martini with a lot of flavor) The bartender seemed like she might also be the manager/owner- she was very friendly and welcoming! The one time we went there, there was no music playing, just a football game with the sound on that no one seemed to be watching, so we left. Crappy vibe. At least play some music for those who don't want to watch sports while they have a drink. read more

Best place to grab drinks at in downtown Spokane!! Drinks here are like none other, and they make trying unique drinks exciting and delicious!! Love the atmosphere and the pop corn to snack on. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and not stuck up (which has been my experience at other Craft Bars) Make sure you try the St. 75 when you go in...nothing beats a little Champagne, fresh Grapefruit juice and St. Germain!!! Can't wait to go back and try more drinks! read more

Slooooooow, terrible service. Overpriced (but delicious) drinks. And it was very clear that I was not cool enough for this place. We really enjoyed our bartender and our drinks at the Volstead act. When I wasn't sure what I wanted and couldn't find it on the menu, the bartender worked with me to make an amazing drink and was friendly and knowledgeable. We sat outside and had a great experience overall. While we did wish there was some food, the free pub mix and popcorn was greatly appreciated. read more

A small downtown Spokane bar with plenty of liquor options and a laid back environment. I was in from out of town on a business trip. Jake the bartender is very knowledgeable on drinks and can whip up tasty creations based off customer preferences. There could be better beer options but who needs beer when you have plenty of whiskey, gin, and tequila to choose from. read more

Our bartender CJ made me the best lemon drop I've ever had! We came here before seeing alt-J at the knitting factory. The vents are made from real wood apparently. Also try the Raj against the machine. I'm not one for boozy drinks but this one was amazing! I wanted to sip it all night! read more

This place is a much needed addition to downtown Spokane. I came in on a date and the cocktails impressed both of us. They have an amazing spirit list that they use to concoct into deliciousness using all fresh ingredients. These bartenders are on a different level. They don't have have food but they will give you bowls of peanuts to snack on. They are located right down the street from the Davenport so if you need you can grab some food in between cocktails. Try the Kentucky Fields, i didn't even know i liked bourbon! I will be back often. read more

Great little bar with a sophisticated big-city feel, right in the heart of good old not-really-that-big Spokane. Awesome craft cocktails. First visit I tried the "Thyme's they are a-changin'", a really tasty herb-laced concoction. Second time, I tried the Madhattan, also excellent. Friendly bartender, cool atmosphere, and they're open late (2 a.m.) long after most downtown spots go to sleep. Definitely will be back. read more

This place is a little overly hip and trendy for my personality. And I find the room to be claustrophobic. That aside, there is no better place in town to have one drink. These guys clearly know their craft and I've never been happier to spend urban money on a cocktail. I've had the Ambidextrous, their version of a Manhattan, and the Kentucky River. Both are excellent and well worth the price, but the Kentucky River, an updated Old Fashioned, is the best drink I've ever paid for, anywhere. These young guys work hard and provide excellent customer service. The bar snacks are great and, though a bit incongruous for the atmosphere, I really like that they have a TV with the game on. The Volstead Act is a bright spot downtown. read more

Across the street from the Hotel Lusso, a nice hole-in-the wall bar. Knowledgable bartender who made an expert martini. Free popcorn and Chex-Mix, plus board games. Couple at the bar discovered the 1970's era "Battleship". On the TV, the bartender was looking for the best "Star Trek" episode that would play without sound. Apparently, "The Tholian Web" plays best. read more

Big fan of this place! Just what Spokane needed.Very nice staff and great selection of Hooch. Across the street from the Davenport Hotel in downtown. By far the best tasting cocktails I've ever had. Cocktails take a lil longer than what your used to due to fresh ingredients, but well worth the extra minute to make. Also normal cocktails such as rum and coke, vodka red bulls etc... something for everyone. Free peanuts as well. read more

We are Spokane's premier craft cocktail lounge. Utilizing fresh squeezed juice, fresh ingredients and premier liquors we "build" cocktails that are truly out of this world.

History

Established in 2013.

The Volstead Act flew up Ryan Walsh from San Diego California to implement our cocktail program. Ryan, who bartends at Esquire magazines cocktail lounge of the year (The Noble Experiment) spent countless hours with our staff and liquor reps to put together Spokane's top cocktail lounge. Opening in September of 2013 in the heart of The Davenport District The Volstead Act looks forward to staying on the cutting edge of the emerging cocktail movement.

Between the lighting, music, books, and dramatic cocktail menus, the vibe alone makes the place worth visiting. We tried the espresso martini, Painkiller, and Bloody Verde. The espresso martini was smooth and easy to drink without being overly sweet, and the Painkiller had that creamy tropical flavor that somehow still worked with the darker speakeasy atmosphere. Keeping it honest though, the Bloody Verde just wasn't for me personally. I can still appreciate the creativity behind it, but the flavor combo just didn't match my taste buds. That being said, if you like savory spicy cocktails, you'd probably feel very differently about it. Service was friendly, drinks came out looking great, and the music really tied the whole experience together. I've given Bistango multiple chances over the years because I enjoy the atmosphere and want to…read moresupport local Spokane businesses, but unfortunately the customer service has been consistently disappointing. Most recently, on a Friday evening around 7 PM, my party was seated near the end of the bar by the restroom area. A server approached me in a confrontational manner and told me to move my chair because it was blocking the walkway. I immediately complied and moved it where he directed. Despite that, he repeatedly pushed and squeezed past the chair in an aggressive way several times afterward and then returned to confront me about it again. The interaction felt hostile, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. On a previous visit, a female server was rude and controlling toward our table, and on another occasion when we were unhappy with a menu item, the response was essentially, "You ordered it, you pay for it," with no attempt to address the concern professionally. The atmosphere is great, which is why we've continued to come back. However, after several visits involving rude and confrontational interactions with staff, it feels more like an ongoing culture issue than a one-time bad experience. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic courtesy and respect. Hopefully management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer experience.

First, took a minute to get to the bar top to place our order as the place was a packed house, so we were patient and boy did it pay off!! The bartender was extremely knowledgable about their cocktails and was able to guide some of our novice bar drinkers to something they would enjoy. Second, the drinks are out of this world delicious! I ordered a traditional whiskey sour, while most bartenders ask "what makes it traditional" Volstead didn't bat an eye and I have to say its probably the best one I've had in a LONG time. Sorry wifey, no longer making these at home... Volstead spoiled me! We were originally going to pop in for one, but as we drank our first cocktails a table opened up and we jumped at the opportunity to stay and as the group wanted to test out more of their drinks. The second time our bartender came out to the table and served us. At that time he keyed us in on the cabinet full of board games they have and thus began an epic battle of UNO! I transitioned to my old favorite that I was pleasantly surprised to hear they carried, Rainier but my lady went on to try the Spring Fling and still talks about it to date! Worst experience I've ever had at a local bar. Clearly the staff is more interested in doing drugs with each other than taking care of new guests. I'm from the Midwest and I saw multiple people heading upstairs and then coming right back back down, including the "manager" of the bar whom I guess was named Jake. I was there two nights in a row since I was staying at the Davenport. I'm guessing the owner doesn't know what goes on in his bar, but I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. It was embarrassing to be there in the first place. Hope they can clean it up before it gets closed down. read more

Downtown Spokane has been waiting for a place like this. Delicious craft cocktails, and I'm not talking about the too-sweet-too-fruity drinks your little sister likes, but drinks a gentleman would proudly sip on to congratulate himself for a job well done after (or during) a long day at work. A trophy buck with a big red rack greets patrons from his perch on the north wall, and his supporting staff are just as friendly and twice as good looking. Besides the fact they have awesome craft cocktails, the ice has to be my favorite part! Volstead uses a special ice machine for their craft cocktails which produce large squared cubes that take a very long time to melt which doesn't water down your perfectly hand crafted cocktail. read more
