We purchased a new Volvo XC-60 on July 5, 2025, from Volvo Cars of Bend. We were assisted by Brennon, Dalton, and Mike. Our new vehicle turned out to have hard water spots which did not come off with a professional car wash. We are thoroughly disappointed this happened at all, obviously cars are improperly stored and maintained on the lot. The dealership was aware of the problem, failed to prevent it, failed to clean it prior to sale, failed to disclose it, and finally failed to resolve it. We contacted the dealership many times requesting assistance in resolving this. Their first suggestion was to buy a chemical solution and do it ourselves. The next suggestion was to bring the car back for detailing, a four-hour trip each way for us, which was not possible. The third suggestion was a used car dealership's detailing services. After two weeks of texting back and forth with Dalton, with no resolution, we took our brand new car to a professional detailing shop. They explained that the longer these hard water stains are left untreated, baking in the sun, the harder they are to remove. We ended up paying over $500 to remove these spots from our brand new car, which should never have had them in the first place. Also,they charged us for a pre-installed anti-theft system, which by their own admission is to prevent theft from their own lot - they install it on all their vehicles - this was a $500 add-on that was presented as non-negotiable, not an option. It is shocking that a luxury brand such as Volvo does not enforce quality standards for all their dealers. They sold us a cosmetically defective vehicle - advertised as new, but not in a new condition. We will think twice about purchasing a Volvo in the future, and certainly never return to Volvo of Bend. read more

Typical sleazy tactics of low level dealers. They accepted my offer but tried to simultaneously increase their fees to compensate. They insisted on an immediate deposit to secure a deal on their terms while pushing the "someone else is looking at that car now" BS. I found a used car at the Volvo Dealership that was exactly what I was looking for (very difficult to find all the specs I'd been hunting for). Jesse worked hard to ensure a helpful, friendly, process for me getting all of my lengthy checks done on the car before pulling the trigger on it. For a dealership the price was surprisingly reasonable and they provided a bit of wiggle room for getting even more of a deal. It sounds like they've had some struggles in the past, but it looks like they've got new footing now. They were responsive without being pushy, got me solid answers to all my questions, and were pretty open book on the pricing and what kind of deal they could make with me. I appreciate the honesty and transparency, which includes making a profit on their side. We have purchased 3 Volvo's from smolich. Love the car, we have been extremely happy with the service, until the last few months. My husband took my car in for required maintenance, with an appt, last month. He waited in the lobby for 15 min, while 3 guys, were out in the lot chatting. Clearly they saw him walk in. Finally a mechanic came in from the shop and offered to help. Of course, we received a request to review the service. I have tried 12 times, to send a review, and have immediately received an auto send, that they were closed. At 1140 on a fri, or 1600 on a wed., etc. I think not. By the way, these have been at the request of smolich. We are extremely disappointed, at the lack of concern, from anyone at the dealership. One that we have been very proud of, for so many years. My rear door window was smashed in. I first took the car to an autoglass shop but after ordering the Glass and working on the installation, they discovered that the controller in the door was also broken :-( So I took the car and the new glass to Volvo and they ordered and fixed the controller bit then they discovered that the glass procured by the autoglass shop was the wrong part. They immediately reached out to them to resolve and offered me a brand new loaner to use while they work it all out and get the proper part. Couldn't ask for better service. read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. My husband has owned seven Volvos in his lifetime. Never again. We have been without our car for over 15 weeks.Smolich Volvo refuses to take any responsibility. No apologies. No offers of help. They have shown complete disregard. If customer service matters to you, do not buy your car here. In response to the comment that this was the fault of the collusion location: not true. Precision Auto was courteous and timely with their service. Smolich was at fault here. Their service people were on vacation for weeks at a time holding our car hostage with no offer of help. We love our Volvo. I just cannot recommend this dealer. I rarely write reviews, but people need to know that if their car needs service with this dealership they're going to wait a good, long time. read more

I used to like going here to get my XC-70 Volvo serviced, but that changed after they moved a few years back and some of their staff changed, at which point the service dept went downhill. I have since sold it and have a Subaru CrossTrek, with A+ service from Subaru Bend, who have shown me what great service is all about and compelled me to say something. read more

I purchased a new Volvo from Smolich in 2010 at their previous location. They were all very welcoming, as well as appreciative & professional back then. For seven years, Bob in service was awesome & the entire dealership treated me as a valued, respected customer. I was actually planning in the future to purchase another vehicle from them. However, fast forward to these last two or so years since they changed location & team members. Their customer service level has now become unacceptable. Service, mechanics & management are unwelcoming, uncaring, mean-spirited & unprofessional. The other one-star reviews (& overall 2.5 star poor rating) are no joke. This dealership has taken a wrong turn and it has become the worst service I've ever experienced. Do yourself a favor: avoid this establishment and purchase/service your Volvo somewhere else. If that's not an option, there are other dealerships that still care in Bend (like Kendall, Subaru, or Robberson, etc). read more

I have owned a Volvo for the better part of 10 years. I will not take it anywhere else. They have always been awesome in working with my schedule and getting me back on the road quickly. I've even bought new along with used from them and Bill and John G have always been so helpful in answering all my questions. The technicians have also been willing to explain problems and help troubleshoot any concerns. I am certain that using products from the company and technicians trained by Volvo has helped to keep my cars running for an many miles it's almost comical. I ended up negotiating on a new 2020 Volvo with a dealership in Washington state and literally saved over $3,000 on the exact same model, year, and options. I was taken a road trip through Bend Oregon to visit a friend and I was having some car trouble. I stopped at Volvo Smolich to have them diagnose my car. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I dealt with John who had a smile on his face when I first walked in. Someone who actually knew his stuff and was honest. The local Volvo service center is so bad that I am going to have to either buy a different brand of car or drive all the way to Portland for an option. We have taken our 2014 XC70 in for service 3 times since purchase. Each and every time they have done something to the car which resulted in the car not starting or having some type of issue and we had to take it back for the fix!! I have never had such grief with a new car and poor service!! The service center itself is in a horrible location, crazy parking lot and a service center that has nothing but a water fountain! I honestly just had the best experience at an auto repair shop than I have had maybe ever. They gave me a reasonably priced oil change, great advice on how to cut costs and get my brakes done, and then washed my car and vacuumed. I was running late and kept looking at my watch while the nice guy was washing my car. A sales associate noticed me looking at my watch, asked if he could help. I told him I needed to leave in seven minutes but didn't want to interrupt the car washer. The sales guy proceeds to go outside, role up his sleeves, and help wash my car. He got me out of there in six minutes. WOW. The service manager Chris was awesome, and seriously, they got a team out there to finish washing my car. Thank you smolich volvo!! You guys are the BEST! Despite the inevitable high costs that come with anything Volvo, I've always had a pleasant experience when taking my car here. I've found they're the only ones who know EXACTLY what to do with my car (Volvo's are often too tricky for other local shops to work on as I've found out the hard way). I've been here for parts, service, and even something as small as getting a new key programmed and they always wash my car and clear the codes and give it back to me in better condition than I left it with them. I had my S40 serviced here and they replaced timing kit witch included, timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley with a 10 year or 100000 mile guarantee! Two months ago with not even 7000 miles on these parts the tensioner broke rendering my motor no good. I called Volvo and they refused to tow the car to their shop and said that I would have to find a way to get it there! I got the car to them and and a couple days later I went back in to find out what they were going to do about it and at that point John Grasty told me that the motor was no good and it was going to cost me $6500 for a new motor, I told him that it wasn't going to cost me anything and asked for Corporate number. I then called Volvo Corp. and put in a complaint, they later emailed me telling me that the were not going to guarantee their parts, so I contacted an attorney and then called Corp. back and explained to them what the attorney said and sent them all my ownership papers. They got back to me thru email once again a couple days later saying that they where going to take care of it, for me to communicate now with Volvo of Bend this was almost a month ago! Since then, I have called Volvo to no avail, I could not reach anyone who could give me any information nor could I get anyone to return my call, I emailed and called corporate and complain several times and all I got was " we appreciate your patient and have passed your concerns on" what they didn't understand is my patients were worn out!!! I told them yesterday that they would not be hearing from me again, from now on it would be my attorney, low and behold, I wake up this morning and opened my email where I found an email from Volvo of Bend ( not a courtesy phone call) stating they are waiting for parts because now that they are paying for it, my motor can be rebuilt, it doesn't have to be replaced, how funny is that!!! And on top of that I have been asking for a loaner car because I have custody of my 3 great grandsons who are all 3 years old and under and I can't even get to the store to buy diapers, Nothing until today, this is unbelievable, two months without a car to buy food, diapers or even get to doctors. What a great buying experience! I worked with Michael Ivens and Jesse Grover and they were so helpful and patient. I had a difficult time deciding which car was right for me. I never felt any pressure. I ended up buying an awesome Subaru Outback. There was a minor issue with the automatic window and they have arranged for the service department to fix it. On a Friday afternoon, my son broke down in Portland and was towed to the nearest Volvo shop. After given an outrageous "Beginning" estimate Friday evening and not being able to look at the vehicle until mid to late the following week, at the earliest, and a minimum of 3 weeks for repairs (without any troubleshooting or part sourcing) I called Smolich Volvo on a Saturday afternoon. The Service shop was closed, but the Salesman took a detailed message and promised a call Monday morning. Then unexpectedly on Sunday morning I received a call from the GM at Smolich Volvo, he wanted to touch base with me and get more details on my dilemma and promised a call from the Service Dept first thing Monday. I received a call Monday morning shortly after opening time! Started working transportation logistics for the vehicle and my son from Portland to Bend, by 11:15am Monday morning, all logistics were finalized for them to retrieve the vehicle and my Son Tuesday Morning. Monday evening received notification that due to incoming storm, they are going to pick up two hours early, so they can beat the storm back. After my son and his vehicle arrived at Smolich Volvo I received a text message from the Team saying they have the vehicle and I could use that text thread to stay in touch with them at any time if I have concerns or questions. The following morning, I received a phone call saying the car was repaired and ready for pick up, and the total (including transport from Portland) was just at the price the original shop in Portland quoted just for the diagnostics (without parts or labor). In a day and age where it seems customer loyalty and service has gone to the wayside, the entire Team at Smolich Volvo has proven it still exists! Their professionalism and personal care have earned my respect and loyalty! read more

I continue to have my scheduled service done there and they always work around schedule and communicate what's going on in language I can understand. This is the second Volvo dealership and service department we have had issues with the first being in Seattle. We really enjoy the Volvos we have purchased, but have had nothing but issues with servicing our brand new vehicles (which shouldn't be in the shop to begin with) My car is not even a year old and we just moved to Bend. I called to make an appointment, because my airbag light is on and the entire panel for the sunroof stopped working . The first time I left a message but no one ever called me back to schedule. When I asked if I could get a loaner car, they said no because I "should " have a quick service appointment. Show up and find out that it "could" be longer, but that now I can't get a loaner car. So basically a catch 22 you can't get a loaner car on an estimated short service appointment, but they also can not guarantee a time frame. So how exactly do you prove that your service time may be longer and you need to reserve a loaner car? Now they have to keep my car overnight (I had a text a call a few times to get that information) , but can only give me a loaner car for an hour or 2. I'm not sure why that option would even be offered? None of this makes any sense, which is why we will not be buying a 4th Volvo based on our service experience so far in 2 different states. read more

I have been a Smolich customer for several years, leasing two vehicles and finally purchasing my 2008 V50 when the lease was up. I have always had my car serviced at Smolich as it is important to me to use qualified mechanics and genuine parts. I was used to great customer service when Bob M. was there. The period of time between when Bob left and John G. became the service manager I will admit was a bit iffy. I no longer felt like the good customer I had been, but rather like a bother. I don't know if this was because I was a woman, or it they just lacked basic common courtesy. Plus, they made a few mistakes on my car and always charged me to fix their errors. My dealings with the service department since John has been there have been stellar. He has always treated me with respect, courtesy and fairness. I bought a used Volvo locally and have brought it to Smolich a few times for regular maintenance. Every time I have called to try to get an appointment, I never get a person, just voicemail. It can then take days for a callback. Sometimes you have to leave multiple messages. Once I can finally get an appointment, the service is pretty adequate. However, at my last visit, the service guy told me that I needed to come back for a few things (steering fluid and a backup sensor part fix) and that he would be in touch to schedule. That was over a month ago. I left my third and final voicemail two days ago, basically pleading for a callback, as the backup sensor beeping is pretty annoying at this point. I even said in my message that if I didn't hear back soon I would need to take my business elsewhere. You would think that would get a callback. Nope. I am really disappointed...I always like to have my service done at the dealer, as I think this adds value when you go to sell a car, plus I am sold on Volvo and would have looked at Smolich when I need to replace my current 2008 car. So, they are losing a service customer as well as a sales customer. I called around and was referred to Mountain View Imports. I called, got a human being on the second ring, and spoke with a nice fellow who promptly scheduled me for just four days from today. read more
