I have discovered that I really miss taking classes in different art techniques and media. It's…read moretrue -- I paint all the time. And it's also true that I'm not much good at clubs and associations and societies and other joining kinds of groups. But -- that's where a lot of seminars, classes, workshops and other learning opportunities can be found. So I bite the shyness-bullet and hold on tight to my paint brush and jump in. There are so many artists (both amateur and professional) of all kinds on this stretch of Central Oregon Coast -- it's a great place for potters, wood carvers, metal workers and glass people because of the endlessly moderate temperature. It's a great place for painters and sketching because of --well -- the SCENERY, the light, the ocean, the air quality -- you name it. You can't swing a pencil without hitting something worth drawing. The ASA offers classes -- both for adults and school age artists; as well as classes for all levels of experience. Class topics vary depending on what instructors are available -- sometimes focusing on a specific technique; sometimes exploring a new tool or even a specific subject. They offer open studio space at least once a week if you just want to come up and make your art in good company. They offer wall space so you can share your art -- and enjoy what everybody else is making. They even come together once a month for a meal and some conversation. The space is adjacent to the Artists Co-Op Gallery on the Pacific Coast Hwy -- which features the work of many of the ASA members. (It's a great little gallery -- well worth a stop-in if you're in town.) And the classes (at least the ones I've been to) have been enjoyable and a chance to try new things. -- and a chance to meet new people Membership in ASA gets you a reduced tuition -- which pays for itself with just a few afternoons of class time.

The fresh flowers that she sells are so pretty and very reasonably priced Her tea cups and saucers are fantasy based and the paintings she creates are full of whimsy, lightness and blissness. Aria the owner is easy going and you can tell she's happy in the space she's created. She also has art classes here. We came here for a tea party and we got that and more. There were many unusual and delicious tea choices. From lavender grey tea to pink lemonade tea to amber bliss etc. There were tiers of goodies from little quiches to these amazing fruit cheesecake layers of awesomeness to a french bread/brie/berry jelly topped off with rosemary etc. She has some wonderful options of different flavored sugars such as ginger and lemon as an example. You may buy these wonderful delights and then include them in your tea or you can just lavish in sugar cubes. We actually ordered this amazing rose hips iced tea with frozen fruit and mint ice cubes. As part of the special tea party you also receive a lovely bouquet of flowers to take home. This, and Ms. Alice the amazing white fluffy bunny that would visit you from time to time. Romantic and delightful. It's all part of the beautiful ocean surrounding this lovely town and fits in so perfectly.

Everything is so tastefully presented and decently priced you'll just never want to leave. I came in to buy a bouquet and left with a bunch of other things too! I ended up doing a tea tasting which was so much fun, I highly recommend the "house blend" made with wild huckleberry. The book selection deeply impressed me, lots of cool titles I hadn't seen before anywhere else. It was amazing to get to talk with the artist and see such a wide range of artwork, SPOILER ALERT they're all gorgeous! On top of everything else, the owner teaches art classes, hosts tea parties, AND you can even book the tearoom for a baby or bridal shower. There's no end to the number of awesome things to fall in love: Alice the rabbit, artisan pastries, and the positive energy in the store (just to name a few.) Simply, you'll be blown away totally worth 5 stars and much more.
