Some people may consider their spice levels to be hot, so if you're not into that, I recommend getting mild. But the hot is just perfect in my opinion. Better chicken than Bonchon. read more

Forget buffalo wings, KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is better. There's not much out there better than some crispy fried chicken and an ice-cold drink. I tried the crunch fried chicken and the spicy soy garlic glaze and the sweet butter fries. The sweet butter fries had a unique sweet flavor that surprised me and I wasn't sure how I felt about them. Until I kept reaching for another, and another. I didn't realise how much I enjoyed them until the basket was empty. Almost wanted to order another basket! The crunch fried chicken was preternaturally crispy, as all KFC does involve being fried twice for max crunch. But the soy garlic glaze was my favourite. The moment my teeth sunk past that crispy, saucy skin layer into the juicy, tenderness underneath, it made normal wings seem tame by comparison. I've had Vons before and had a great experience but today was different. I asked for a "10 piece drumette" and the worker asked me "which one?" Again so I pointed and said "the 10 piece drumette wings" then he asked for the flavor and I told him then my order came out to $35 and I was confused but went along because I don't know how much they charge. DO NOT ORDER GARLIC CHICKEN, UNLESS YOU WANT SWEET CHICKEN. I order the crispy garlic chicken and honey butter chicken. When I looked up the menu, it did not state that the garlic chicken was sweet. I think the chicken was probably crispy when first made, but it was drenched in the sauce, so it wasn't very crispy when I brought it home. It was my first time eating from here, so I ordered a half order of the honey and full order of garlic. When I tried them I first thought they messed up the order. I could barely tell the difference between them because they were both extremely sweet. Only reason I was able to tell the garlic chicken apart, was because I could see minced garlic. However there was no garlic flavor. I also ordered all wings, but was given half wings and half drums. I normally wouldn't care about that too much, but the rest of the household only likes wings, so it made it a lil upsetting. I called them and explained what had happened, and asked if I could get at least a refund on the garlic chicken, because it was miss leading and none of us ate any of the food after trying it. Thats a whole order basically wasted. He tried to insist that we just replace it with something else, but I don't want to waste more chicken. He said we will work something out. Picked up my phone order and it was delicious. Due to covid-19, they are only doing online/phone orders. My order only took about 25 minutes during noon on a Friday. The chicken was very crispy and make sure to mention having your sauce in the side so your chicken doesn't get soggy. I got the Crispy Fried Chicken and Honey Butter and they were both delicious. I'm so impressed by this place and am so glad we have a new Korean Fried Chicken place in Castro Valley! Last night, my boyfriend and I ordered takeout and got half orders of the Crispy Padak Chicken, Crispy Fried Chicken with Honey Butter, and the Crispy "YANGNYUM" Chicken (Mild). Each order came with a side of Cole slaw and pickled radish. Everything we ordered was really good and I was thoroughly impressed by each item. The outside texture is really nice and crunchy while the inside is nice and meaty/juicy! If I had to rate our order from favorite to least favorite, it'd be: 1. Crispy "YANGNYUM" Chicken (Mild) - 10/10, so much flavor and the spice isn't overpowering 2. Crispy Padak Chicken- 9.5/10, the fried chicken is perfect and the shredded green onions are a nice addition for a pop of flavor 3. Crispy Friend Chicken with Honey Butter- 8.5/10, I also really enjoyed this one; however, I enjoyed the two other chickens more. The flavor for this was both cheesy and sweet and I prefer more savory flavors Bonus points for customer service also because the man at the front desk was really friendly and insisted on carrying our food out to our car for us :) Although I tried this place last night, I'm already craving their fried chicken. I usually love Korean Fried Chicken but this was not that good. I ordered the "crispy" Yangnyum Chicken and the Soy Sauce and Black Vinegar Chicken. The Yangnyum chicken was all wings and the Soy Sauce Chicken was all drum sticks. The yangnyum Chicken was heavily sauced with a very spicy sauce. The sauce was so heavy that the chicken was no longer crispy - it was soggy. I didn't like the flavor of the sauce. It was just hot. The soy sauce and black vinegar chicken did not have familiar vinegar taste. The meat tasted bad. I am not sure if the meat was old or there was a rotten piece in the marinade - the marinade might have been old and reused too long. I didn't get diarrhea but the taste did stop me from eating and I threw away the remaining chicken. It might have been an off day for the store so I won't discourage anyone from trying. You might want to start with a small amount to try before you order a large amount. Personally, I won't go back - the taste of rotten meat really grossed me out and I won't eat any chicken for awhile. read more
