I have been hearing about this place for a while but had never tried it. Unfortunately due to covid there was no dine in, but my best friend and I ordered and hung out in the car. The food was brought to us and WOW. We enjoyed an amazing lunch. Honey butter fries are a must - garlic anything is awesome. Absolutely will be back. read more

Best chicken wing options in the east bay! The selection they have is just unbelievable and I've never had a flavor I didn't like. It was still take out only so I ordered online. Pick up was seamless and quick. They are very helpful and even offered to assist me in bringing it out to my car! read more

Can't rave enough about this place. All the chicken flavors are on point. I normally get all my wings boneless (easier to devour.lol) I like to get regular and kimchi rice and mix them up for a lighter flavor so that I can enjoy the flavors on the wings. Just moved to CV and already ordered from here 7 times! Yeah, it's that good. read more

I crave this chicken. I'm thinking about ordering some now as I'm writing this review. So crispy with a great balance of savory and sweet. I go for the crispy and the honey butter. I would skip on the crunchy. Comes with picked daikon radish and a light cole slaw. I usually eat it with some rice and Kim chi from my fridge. Yum yum yum. Mandu is also tasty. read more

During the pandemic, I'm just sick and tired of cooking and ordering from the same handful of places so decided to Yelp around for something new. My household isn't too big on deep fried food, but once in a while when we have it, it's always chicken wings! Along came Von's Chicken. After extensive reading on reviews and looking at photos to see which flavors of wings to order, opted for Yangnyum, Crispy Garlic, and Soy sauce and Vinegar. I couldn't tell exactly what Yangnyum would taste like, but a lot of reviewers says it's good. It's somewhat hard to describe. Sweet, slight tang if I recall correctly, and a hint of chili pepper. Soy sauce and Vinegar reminds me of subtle Filipino adobo, less pungent - more soy than vinegar. Crispy Garlic was the best of all 3 flavors. Perfect amount of garlic flavoring on top of the fresh, crispy chicken. Ordered all 3 flavors with wings and drumsticks which will cost you an additional dollar each. Not much to sides. The coleslaw and pickled radishes were OK. Overall, not bad. Will definitely be back to try other flavors. But Crispy Garlic is a definite must have! read more

Sooo tasty! The oven roasted and fried options are all worth while. I'm not even a cole slaw person but theirs compliments the spicy sauces that dress their boneless or bone in wings. Talk about a craving. I really enjoyed the garlic oven roasted wings as well as the Von's Special Sauce the make. Big chunks of boneless servings make it all worth it I'm usually a traditional wing kinda guy. Will def be back. read more

We usually order half Crispy fried chicken and half Yangnyum. Both are delicious. I love how crispy/crunchy the crispy fried chicken is. This is definitely one of my favorite places to order takeout. Pre-Covid, when they first opened and we had dined in, the service was great. They were also playing BTS performances on the TV. For that alone, they get ten stars. :) read more

I ordered the half (10 piece) vons homemade wing sauce and trust me these where fire!! Definitely would order again. I also ordered the butter honey fries and the cheesy fries. The honey butter is definitely a new flavor which I never had but I enjoyed the sweet taste. The cheesy fries did disappoint because they only had a cheesy rub and I was expecting actual cheese on the fries. I did order very late night almost 30 minutes before they closed and to my surprise the food was still fresh off the kitchen. Nothing was old or soggy which I really loved. If I'm ever on death row, my last meal will be the honey butter chicken from cons. I cannot say enough good things about them, well I could but it would take me awhile. I've been to 3 different Vons locations, and the service as well as food has not varied at all! Somehow they manage to keep a level of professionalism throughout all their chains. Came to the Castro Valley Vons today and it was definitely the best so far. I ordered a full of the Honey Butter chicken and I swear they give me a full and a half. Somehow I always get a different amount of pieces but it's always more than what they say, so I'm not complaining. Even though I was 10 minutes late to pick my food up, the food was still fresh like a baby Fresh out the womb. The fries were superb as well, both crispy and delicious! I ordered the D. CRISPY GARLIC CHICKEN and F. CRISPY YANGNYUM CHICKEN (mild). The garlic chicken was my favorite, the sauce drizzled on the crispy chicken was hella good! The yangnyum was good too, reminded me of sweet n sour chicken with a little kick of fiyah. Definitely recommend the crisply garlic chicken and I hope they cook it with extra love for you when you try it. The chicken sizes are way better than Wingstop! We ordered the full 20 WINGS for +$1 and they're like 2-3 times bigger than Wingstop's wings. The chicken came with a side of radishes and cole slaw. I like to having different flavors, so I enjoyed the radishes because they added a tangy taste to my meal. The coleslaw was cool, I'd give it a 7/10. But I'm a fan of cole slaw so I'm biased. Delicious fried chicken each time! Nice variety of sauces, but we typically get orders of wings with garlic sauce and the soy and garlic sauce. Tastes just as good the next day after heating leftovers in the air fryer. Very friendly service. read more

I'm so impressed by Vons Korean chicken. I was craving it from watching Crash Landing on You. They are a small business in Castro Valley, and they have the best service! During this COVID-19 shutdown we wanted to support local small businesses, and I found this one on yelp. They completed our huge order in 15 minutes and we were greeted with great service. They gave me A LOT of extra daikon when I requested it. You can't get alcohol to-go yet because they just got their alcohol license and they don't have beer there right now. When this whole shelter at home blows over I'm definitely going back! I hope they have Korean beer next time tho :-) read more

In spit of the current conditions this place is rocking the chicken space around here. The portion and choices are awesome. Ive tried three different types of the chicken and each one has its upsides! Quick service and friendly, and they dont over estimate their prep and cook time so you food isnt cold qhen you arrive per their eta. Once a week during quarantine my family picks a local non-chain restaurant to support. We were craving fried chicken and came across Von's in our Yelp search. Placed an order online, which was super easy and photos were great. We ordered 1/2 crunchy, 1/2 crispy chicken plus kimchi fried rice and spicy rice cakes. Our order was ready when we drove up. The place has parking but not too impressive from the outside but inside nice, clean and I was immediately greeted with a smile. Dinner was GREAT! The whole family loved everything, although the rice cakes were not like the traditional rice cakes that we were expecting but they were good. Need to order them a little more spicy next time. The chicken was fried two ways...crunchy and crispy. Both were fried to perfection and juicy inside. Loved the pickled radish and cole slaw sides. We will definitely be back! read more

Have been to Vons Chicken at a few different locations and its always Good!! My favorite is the Crispy Garlic Wings and the Yang Nyum Wings!! Its a bit Pricey but its worth it! In some Locations For the chicken wings The wings and drums they use are huge so alot of meat on them!! I would Recommend!! read more

Open during SIP. We were craving snacks so we ordered to go half crispy chicken combo of wings and drums. Comes with a small slaw and pickled radish. Thin batter, crispy chicken, strong soy sauce flavor. It was awesome. My regret was that I didn't have an iced coke to pair it with. Some other side dishes available. I love Korean fried chicken and this didn't disappoint. Lots to select from different types of fried to oven sauced. The sides were ok as I tried the coleslaw and rice. I couldn't tell if this is a counter order or sit and be served place. I came in to sit down and eat but when my lunch special came, he gave it to me in a bag? Now I was sitting at the table and had a glass of water so I don't think I was takeout us I had somethings with me to do at the table. Would have been nice on a plate like the other pics I saw. I have been searching for light, flaky, golden brown chicken ever since I started watching Korean dramas on Netflix. The search is finally over. Ordered the Crunchy Fried Chicken. Chose the 5 drumsticks option (half order), and totally inhaled 4 of them in one sitting. I've never done that before, but I couldn't help myself. It's delicious! Brand new restaurant, formerly the Tofu House, which has been a Castro Valley staple for years! Bright white new sign, we were excited and couldn't resist stopping by. Staff was friendly and informative. We actually didn't try it yet because they won't have there oven for another week so did not have the items we were looking for. Normally, each meal should come with rice and noodles, a bowl of soup with meat, an additional container of soup for the paid up-size, as well as spicy kimchi and a non-spicy side dish. When my order finally arrived, a significant portion of the food was missing. I received the two bowls of soup and two portions of rice and noodles, but the extra portions that I specifically PAID for to up-size both meals were completely missing. The side dishes were also short by an entire set. When I brought this up, the restaurant actually claimed that they had "combined two portions into one." Seriously? I had literally ordered ONE meal from this same restaurant just YESTERDAY, so I know exactly what a single portion of their kimchi and side dishes looks like. What I received tonight was essentially the same amount as the single portion I received yesterday. It was absolutely not two portions "combined into one." One entire set of kimchi and side dishes was simply missing. I called the restaurant to explain everything that was missing. Their solution was to tell me to place ANOTHER DoorDash order for some cheap item, and then they would include the missing food with that order. Why should I have to place another order and pay another delivery fee and service fee because the restaurant made a mistake--or because something happened to the food during delivery? Either way, that should not become the customer's financial responsibility. Finally, I asked the restaurant to simply refund me for one of the meals because such a large portion of my order was missing. They told me they couldn't issue a refund and then HUNG UP ON ME. That was the point where this went from an incorrect order to some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Instead of simply taking responsibility for missing items, they first tried to tell me that two portions of side dishes had somehow been "combined" into one--even though I had ordered from them just the day before and knew what one portion looked like. Then they expected me to spend more money and place another order just to receive food I had already paid for. When I asked for a reasonable refund instead, they hung up on me. Absolutely unacceptable. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again. After this experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I believe sauces should be used for flavoring not hiding. What do I mean by that? I've noticed sometimes sauces mask how dry the meat is. I decided to taste the honey butter first to see how moist the meat is inside. After taking a bite two things came to mind. First I couldn't taste the honey butter. Second the meat was moist. I tried the honey garlic. The cashier said the honey garlic was spicy. However I felt the honey garlic was spicy at all. Yet the honey garlic sauce was very flavorful. What did I like more the honey butter or honey garlic? I say this was toss up as I can taste more of the meat from the honey butter, yet I can enjoy the sauce of the honey garlic. The tater tots were disappointing as they were bland. The cheesecake was light. I don't shop at Southland Mall often. If I go back Southland Mall and become hungry for lunch I can see myself going back to Adrienne's Wild Wings.
