A few times I've picked up expired yogurt from here not knowingly. The worse part is that it's the baby organic yogurt. I took it back and they refunded my money and seemed a little embarrassed. I've also had some expired Naked juice from here. Just keep an eye out for dates. Otherwise everything else is fine. I'm glad they have organic fruits. read more

I love vons!! This store is my favorite. The deli with the sandwiches is soooo good. They aren't stingy on the meat and they make them fresh. I've bought containers of salad, fruit, noodles, dessert, etc. sometimes it can be pricey but it's worth it. Their bread/ bakery section is very nice. They have a lot of deals going on all the time. I don't shop here that much but it's a nice store. Their self checkout is infuriating!! But what stores isn't? Lol they keep saying "unexpected item in bagging area" and freezes. I tell myself every time never again but I always end up doing it. Also I lost my phone in the bathroom and someone turned it in, a girl who works there that was cleaning the bathroom. Thank god!! The station is frequently very crowded, often with impatient customers. That is why La Verne Police often parks there and watches the station. The prices are good, especially if you are a Vons Club member. You can get up to $1/gallon discount. Warning: The fuel is very low quality and without detergents. If you only use Vons fuel you will want to use high quality fuel treatments like Gumout Regane or your injectors will clog. And that is an expensive repair. read more

We did it. We finally made the switch. We have been coming to this store since it opened, and we finally made the switch to the Upland Vons. We've been going to the La Verne Vons forever, but over the last couple months, we have seen it go downhill (and we aren't the only ones who think that). This store is now always out of things, and the environment is less inviting than it use to be. The staff is amazing but the new managers cannot handle this store. It's sad seeing an entire store be completely destroyed by just adding a new manager. They are not able to handle the high demand and constant attention this store needs/use to have. When there's insane lines, instead of opening up another check stand due to long lines like the old manager use to do, the new manager seems to ignore the chaos upfront and stay hidden. (unlike other stores where the manager jumps into action when they need another checker and don't have one). Paige is the ONLY saving grace in management. read more

this is a review based strictly off the service I received today in the Deli dept. I work up the hill and Vons never disappoints with their Chicken Artichoke sandwiches. No matter when I go the sandwiches are always tasty and warm and delicious (no complaints there) until today. A new girl I have never seen before is making my sandwich; she toasts my sandwich and asks what I want on it ..mayo, mustard, etc. I have no clue what "sauces" go in the sandwich, never had anyone ask if I wanted anything more than what typically goes in there and well she didn't know first hand what was supposed to be in it. I can overlook it because hey if someone is new and isn't quite sure then that's all ok with me. (she didn't mention she was new that was just my assumption). Anyway, I go across the street to eat my sandwich (which by the way is bland because everything that is supposed to be in there isn't in there). Then I realize the sandwich is missing artichokes. A chicken artichoke sandwich with no artichoke. so I drove back to Vons and asked the young lady if I could have some artichoke because she forgot to put some in the sandwich. she responds with "I did put some in there" I said "no you didn't, would you like me to bring my sandwich from my car to show you" she then mumbles something under her breath and puts some artichoke in a bag. For an almost $6 dollar regular sandwich I feel I should have at least had some artichoke. with all the competition Vons has in their shopping center; including a subway (with 5 dollar foot longs) I would believe that customers would be treated a little bit better for it is not my fault you forgot the artichoke. Did not have time to speak with a supervisor because I was trying to rush back to work but I will most definitely be giving a call to the store manager. I love Vons, this Vons but with my experience today its enough not to go back. Especially for an employee to mumble under her breath about what was in or not in my sandwich, do not have the time for this poor behavior. read more

First off, this Von's is on the upper end of all Vons. Very clean and well laid out. The bakery smell makes me drool as soon as I come in the doors. It is very tempting to not buy something from the Bakery. I do have to agree with one other review....The constant 'did you find everything' from EVERY employee makes me feel like Im shopping for a car. This MUST be toned down or I will go elsewhere. You want to run when you see an employee. It is just overkill. That being said, the pharmacy staff needs to know how to smile and make your day a bit better as you do not go to the pharmacy for fun and they act like it. The store itself is well stocked and by staying with the Vons club specials does help. Meat section is always good. I do wish the organic section was a bit bigger as I have family memebers who prefer this as well as a good selection of Vegetarian items. I will say though, if you do need help, you will get it pronto from the employees. Overall, a very good, clean, well stocked store with a great bakery and meat section. read more

Today when I was checking out, the customer in front of me had a small dog, not a service dog, in his grocery cart. It was not in any kind of a dog carrier. Isn't this a health code violation? Also, the bagger petted the dog and put groceries into bags without washing her hands. I asked her to use hand sanitizer before she bagged my groceries. The grocery checker did not tell the man with the dog that he should not bring his pet into the store. She merely commented on how cute the dog was. When I told her it was not allowed, she agreed that she did indeed think it was a health code violation. With so many people asking customers if they need help, I am surprised no one noticed the dog before he got to the check out stand. read more

Price for diesel is high. I called to check price as I had Von's points. Clerk said they could not give prices over the phone but said they were competitive. I ask if price was less than $4.00 per gal. and she said yes. I drove out of my way to find a price of $4.31 a gal. Use your points at Chevron, Skip this place. read more

Usually I shop at Staters in La Verne because it is close and cheap but for some reason I went to the new Vons. It is a brand new beautiful store but the set up sucks. I only needed FOUR items to make homemade Mac and Cheese and I could not find three of the four items. The funny thing was that it took four employees to help me find them. While I was looking for my stuff a ton of other customers were also lost. All of the employees walking around were really nice but the checkers were really rude. It is a lot more expensive than Staters so I would only go to Vons if you need a good deli sandwich. read more

i am an elderly woman in my 80's but i love the internet and writing reviews on yelp. makes the time pass quicker. Their beans are the best ive ever had, and im from idaho where we really love our beans! i moved to california in 1967, raised my 6 sons on my own, and now i have 17 grand babies! There is a sweet beautiful young girl named chloe that works there, she always helps me when i cannot find the darn beans! seeing that im Blind, this is necessary. she always points me in the right direction! at other markets in the past, the workers have lead me to the wrong item to trick a poor old woman. Chole is the kindest person that works there, the voice of an angel. I always come in on sundays to do my shopping, i arrive at 7:15 sharp, (i like to be timely) Chloe is usually the first person i see when i go in on my sundays. I go every sunday because i buy food and tampons for the homeless, but the beans are for me! anyhow i thought i ought to let the good folks of la verne know that they will be taken care of here. thanks for the beans! read more

i love shopping at vons and getting gas here with my reward points, but today, a very rude attendant came up and charged me saying," another customer said you cut him off." he was very unprofessional and almost yelling. i was shaking even after i came home. i did call the manager at vons and told him of the incident. the manager said that the attendants are not to confront customers with complaints. if i cut someone off, then i'd gladly apologize, but the truth is that no one was waiting in line when i pulled up to the station. hope the la verne vons gas station hires better attendants until then, i'll be pumping gas elsewhere. read more

The store is fine...the big problem I have is..."did u find everything o.k.?" Sure,I like help,if I ask for it...but they go way too far!!!
