I've been shopping at this location for 18 years. I've seen many different faces throughout the years. I usually get the honey turkey from the deli but the Deli guy asked me if I ever tried the sun dried tomato turkey because that was his personal favorite. I had never considered trying that one before but he cut me a sample and OMG. So good. I originally wanted a half a pound. But asked for a whole lb. To come back 2 minutes later for another half lb. The only complaint I have is that everyone at home loved it too and finished it forcing me to comeback the next day for another lb. I think his name is Matt. I come to this location every week to purchase me and my husband's meal prep ingredients, but decided to finally leave a review because of my experience with Philomena today! She's such a sweetheart and you can just tell she's a genuinely good person. Even through her mask, I could tell she had kept a warm smile on her face during the entire transaction :) Our interaction had me smiling all the way home. I personally would like to thank the store manager, Robert, and all of his team as they bring our community a much needed fresh look at our store. It is my understanding that the store will be expanding their deli department to include a bakery department. In addition, they will be putting a fresh fruit station within the produce department. As well as a fresh sushi bar at the front of the store. Yes, the rest of the store is being spruced up as well and with that items may change from their "normal" location. Online ordering simply does not work. Apparently if you have a credit card with an out of state billing address stater bros will automatically flag your account for fraud and refuse to do business with you. I'm just a college student trying to save time on a grocery pickup, why do i need to make multiple phone calls to buy groceries with a valid payment method? This policy is honestly crazy, especially since lots of people from outside of California move here, and not all of us immediately get new credit cards in a new state. Anyway, because I've tried to order online twice in the last year customer service says they have to investigate me for who knows how long. Weeks? Months? Theres no transparency, just lots of bureaucracy. There must be a better way to do this... Cashier was super rude. A homeless man was struggling with checking out and the cashier and bagger just watched him struggle until I ultimately offered to pay for his drinks. The cashier was then super rude to me when checking out as my Apple Pay wasn't going through and kept getting declined. She called her manager over and said that I couldn't afford my groceries and proceeded to tell me that I needed to take out some of my groceries in front of a HUGE line of people. I asked her nicely to end the transaction and let the other customers go ahead of me and they continued to cause a scene. So embarrassing and I will not be returning to this location. read more

Fernando was unbelievably pushy and rude. We wanted to donate at the end of our transaction. He asked us several times in a row if we would donate $10 and was unnecessarily coercive. We said no and he misrepresented the options saying $5 was the only other donation amount. We agreed, but then watched him scan the donation barcode 5 times... meaning we could have still donated and only needed to pay $1. This was terrible customer service. If he was trained to do this because of a quota, it's ridiculous. He deliberately withheld information from us and covered up the info so we couldn't read it. The groceries were already expensive and we would have liked to donate the CORRECT amount. Inexcusable. Do better. read more

I've picked up fried chicken at this location 3xs before and the chicken has been delish. This last time on Tuesday the 22nd the chicken was extremely salty and over cooked. I live in La Verne and still go to this store instead of the one in my town. This is a friendly, clean store. Though I think all the employees are good I must give a shoutout to a few. Martina is a wonderful checker. Friendly but doesn't hold up the line to talk. Angel is one of the best baggers. When I ask him to pack light he is one of the few that understands what that means. Michael is a friendly face in the store. Always says hi with a smile on his face. Very helpful when needed. There is another checker I really like unfortunately I can't remember her name. Each time I have a meal in mind I know I can rely on the meat dept & (in no particular order) Sam, Albert or Mark to point me in the right direction regarding the cut, how to prep, which seasonings work best, and even what's on sale for the best value for my dollar. My wife just experienced the worst customer service in her life, so bad she came out crying from the store. Backstory: My wife benefits from WIC and is highly aware of what you can and cannot get per the program guidelines. The cashier, Marissa C. made my wife walk back to the dairy aisle 3 times because Marissa "thought" it wasn't on the approved list. Mind you, my wife has abided to the WIC guidelines for 4 years. On the 4th attempt, the manager, Scott Beitler convened but only to argue with Marissa and not offer any help to my wife. After the fiasco, there was no apology nor was there even a "have a nice night" from Scott or Marissa. I'm really not one to complain, but when your customer service leaves someone crying out of your store, that's just the lowest. My advice to the store, train your employees empathy. The only reason I'm ever in Stater Bros is because the Vons in my city -Claremont- is uuuugggaaallyyy!! But happy surprised because (so far) the produce is great and the meats look fresh, clean, and good. Another bonus, it's really close to my house and they have a ton of parking Aaaaand....no card or phone number required, not that I mind that sort of thing but in case you do. Had a bad experience with the meat from the meat department. The butcher was cutting up some meat and I asked him to get me some steak. He didn't wash his hands or put on gloves sure enough the next day when I go to cook it it had spoiled and smelled horrible. Shelves constantly stocked expired milks and drinks. Really disappointing to walk out of there all the time with expired beverages that aren't cleared from the shelves. Today is my fourth time in two years returning with expired goods that I bought an hour before. Also, there doesn't seem to be really an effort to make it up to customers who have to go through the trouble of returning to the market to swap the expired goods. read more

It's your typical market/ grocery store, I like it because so far they have had everything I've looked for on stock and the inside is nice, it's organized nicely but I'm giving it that extra star because there is gentleman who I always see outside brining in the carts , he's a tall grey haired man, but he seems to have the nicest manners. Who ever he sees , he always greets them and he always has a smile on his face, comes to show how just a little manners can go a long way. **Update 5/1/2019** I'm still only coming to this store because of Greg and his awesome personality! He brightens this store tremendously!! I've noticed that some of the other cashiers are picking up on Greg's skills and using them too. Here's a tip: if I just purchased groceries and you're handing me my receipt, please thank me for my business. Merely saying, "Have a nice day" or "Here ya go" is not the same as thanking me for being a patron. A quick, "Thank you for you business" will go a long way! The only reason I'm giving this store a 5 star rating is because of the consistent, friendly service given by Greg at the cash register. He's the kindest, most courteous employee I have ever encountered at this store. Every time I come in, he's smiling and chatting with the customers. He makes coming to this store a treat. The staff at this store never seems to know where products are or if they can order special items, they are always talking about what time they're off work or asking when their next break is. Not Greg. The management of this store would be wise to keep Greg in the front of the store where customers can see a friendly face! Thank you Greg for being such a caring, courteous person!! This is my regular Stater bros that I shop at every week. Typically the service is pretty good and the products are in stock and good quality. I've been holding off on writing a review of the deli thinking a couple bad experiences might have just been a fluke, but yesterday was the THIRD time I've had to throw away product I've purched at the deli counter due to spoilage as soon as getting home. The first two times I purchased their albacore tuna salad from their service case, knowing this should be the freshest way to get it, only to get home and realize it was sour smelling and tasted rancid. Yesterday I purchased their white rose potato salad from the deli counter, and to my dismay, once again rancid and sour product. I used to be a deli manager for five years and know how long these type of things should stay in their service case and they are definitely NOT abiding by food safety standards. The deli manager, or at very least one of the store managers NEED regulate this. It's not only extremely gross, its unsafe for customers. DO NOT purchase their deli salads here, or at least be very, very cautious! read more

Sounds like a deal to me! I haven't encountered bad service from any of the employees here. At least I know one of their cashiers is nice. I had just bought a bottle of soda and was taking it to my car when it dropped. The soda exploded on impact. It was quite a scene in the parking lot. I brought it back into the store and the cashier who handled my transaction asked me if I was okay and allowed me to get another bottle. This Stater's is ok with me. It's just as good as the rest of 'em. It's always been clean, staff has been cool, never any issues. They were remodeling a while back, and it seems like they're all done with that now. One of the things I love about Stater's in general is the warm roasted chickens, and the peppered bacon. I've been shopping here for decades. This is the only place I will go for meat. The rest of the store is pretty average. The employees have always been very courteous and helpful toward me. He follows through he calls he cuts he picked me out the biggest turkey at thanksgiving he told the time with all his orders to find me a big turkey. Every time I go there he is so helpful. Cashier Laura D is kind of rude. She's like a robot, maybe that works with her relationships outside of work but not in a customer service job. There are many aspects to a cashier's job: mainly the technical & the service. She seems very efficient & knowledgeable, knows all about the current items on sale & how many you need to buy, etc. But she doesn't make eye contact, is sometimes very gruff & rushes people. She was very rude to me the other day. Am I saying she should be fired? Of course not. I'm saying she needs a little tweaking in her skills, maybe customer service isn't her strong suit. I acknowledge, it's hard. It's not for everyone. Unless she's overworked & stressed by management...then that's on management. Speaking of management! The recent remodel is nice. The end result though is that there is less & less room in the front & back of the stores. The width of the cashier lanes shrunk in the process as well. But you still insist upon cramming more & more impulse buy items like cardboard candy displays into the entrance of the checkout. Stop it!! It's annoying and it makes me hate your store. I can only imagine what it's like for a person with children to try & maneuver their way through the checkout line. Do those cardboard candy bar displays REALLY need to be there right as you enter the checkout line? I recently lost 10 lbs. I was shook up, trying to figure out why I felt so smushed in the checkout, then I realized: candy. Update: in the past few times I shopped at this store, I noticed that Cashier Laura was very nice! Stop....turn around, any food I buy with an expiration date is to roten to consume. I think this Stater Bros is the Food for Less of Ralph's, or similar to the outlet of clothes, sell everything that does not sell at a great price.
