This place is unbelievable. In the weekly ad they have in the deli 5 jumbo Drumsticks for $5. Almost 11 am. The case is full all except for that item. You would think something that is on sale in the ad would be out sooner. One of the workers said oh we do those later in the day. ITS IN THE AD. Obviously they don't care about that. Visited today, Sunday 12/19/21. I don't come here very often due to the insane costs of everything. However, if you have a Vons membership card (which is free to sign up), you get REALLY GOOD DEALS AND YOU WILL SAVE A LOT OF MONEY. For example, cake mix ($1.99 each), but member price is only 99 cent each (must buy 5 or more). You can get greats deals for meat, pastries and so much more just because you have a membership. The groceries (veggies) are expensive here in my opinion. Mini tomatoes for $3.99 each, my goodness. You can go to the 99 cent store and get it for 99 cent (although the last time I visited it also went up, $1.49. Still cheaper elsewhere tho). This is Not the first time that this Vons, #2832 -La Verne, uses shady tactics to scam its customers. This instance a particular wine was on clearance had been stocked with an exact similar make but different blend. After paying I had an uneasy feeling that the bill was higher than expected (most people are oblivious and do not check!). Once outside I noticed the cost of the wine was three times as much as it should have been. Vons had intentionally put the actual blend all the way in the back (there was only 1!), and stocked in front of it the same wine of different blend that was not on clearance- they're trying to ripoff the customers with this tactic! I took a pic, got the correct type and the refund. I made numerous attempts to speak with the Store Director TISHA BLANCO to voice my concern, left messages for her to call me back... AND NOTHING - THIS STORE DIRECTOR DEFINITELY DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS! I've dealt with other Vons store directors and they've been very attentive - this one is worthless and has no business in this service! We do grocery pickup here and unlike Walmart they never forget the stuff we ordered. Last time I went before they opened. Decided to wait outside until they did. I checked in on the app and someone came out with my stuff. You get a lot of deals when you're a member. I like seeing the total go down at the register. We love their shrimp special on Fridays. We also love the sale on chips and Ben & Jerry ice cream. I love their selection of fruit bowls. They are helpful. Store is always clean. We love their bakery too. read more

I do wish there was a little more organization to the placement of everything because it took walking down every aisle 3 times and asking two people before I finally found the cookie dough! When I check out , the man in light blue shirt , I guess the Vons manager , (because all the workers here wear dark grey uniforms.) who rudely tells me in front of the people that I can't buy $5 corn , because there is a limit , I can't have any purchases of corn even next day , the corn must be saved for the other customers, and he keeps saying it couple times. Had a great experience this morning at the bakery section that I thought was review-worthy. I never got the employees name, but I was walking around the bakery area looking for their single/two pack sugar cookies and wasn't able to find any. There was only a two pack of raisin cookies left. I saw that the two employees in the bakery were busy so I didn't want to bother them. As I was walking around considering if I should buy a large pack of sugar cookies (which I really didn't want to do because I just wanted a small treat for my husband and I), one of the employees behind the counter called out to me in a friendly manner and asked me if I needed any help and I told her that I was looking for single pack sugar cookies, but couldn't find any where they usually are. She happily let me know that a fresh batch just came out of the oven and that she would pack some up for me in a plastic container instead of their usual baggies because I wanted four (they don't usually sell four packs as far as I'm aware). She got them for me quickly, handed me the price sticker, and asked me if there was anything else she could do for me. I said no and she told me to have a great rest of my day and as I walked away, I heard her ask another customer if they needed help in the same friendly manner. I wish I got her name, she deserves recognition for going out of her way to be helpful. I had a good experience at their Starbucks a different day as well that I think is worth mentioning. I went in asking the barista if they had any $3 reusable plastic frosted Starbucks cups left (cause they're always sold out at every Starbucks and go for ~$10 each on Ebay/Amazon). She checked and informed me that they were sold out, BUT that if I didn't mind, I could purchase the one on display as it was the last one. Born out the remnants of an old Kmart store, this Vons location is probably one of the newer ones in the area. They used to be located across the street for many years and decided to relocate here a few years ago. In my opinion, it was a great decision as this store is much, much larger and of course newer. In addition to the normal supermarket aspect, they have most of the services that a typical Vons store would have, including deli/meat counter, catering services, ready made warm food, bakery with freshly baked bread and pastries, a pharmacy and florist. Prices at Vons tend to be a little higher than other grocery stores or supermarkets, but they seem to have a large selection of quality items in stock. It always helps to be a member and use the member rewards to get discounts. Membership is free so there's really nothing to lose. The key difference that this Vons has that sets it apart form most other Vons stores is the gas station outside. If you are a Vons club member and shop there often, you will start to rack up points. Well, the good thing about those points is that they can be redeemed at either Chevron gas stations or Vons gas stations. I have tried to redeem them at Chevron and you usually get up to 20 cents per gallon off of gas, which is great. However, if you redeem them at the Vons gas station, you can get up to a whole dollar off per gallon! The last time I came by, I didn't notice that I had a bunch of points gathered up and when I went to pump the gas and put in my member number it said that I would get $1 off per gallon. This was a huge savings for me and I was able to fill my whole tank up for half of what I normally pay elsewhere. This Vons store is already great in terms of location and services offered, but with the inclusion of the gas station I will give this location five full stars. read more

I've been ordering my cakes here for over 12 years! They are the best cakes I've ever tasted. The customer service always goes above and beyond. The Cashier's are so personable and I've also seen people cleaning (even before Covid). This is a 5 star store! That being said The bakery Manager Jessica is such an awful employee. I ordered a cake over the phone (I went in but nobody was at the bakery, that's fine) and the gentleman who took my order wrote down exactly how I wanted it Rosette, dark pink to light pink, with sprinkles. She interpreted it wrong and had the nerve to blame a fellow employee! She is incredibly rude. We all make mistakes and I would have felt A LOT better if she just apologized but she was acting like I was starting a scene in front of other customers. I have shopped at this Vons in La Verne for over 10 years. I shop here for items I want a good quality on such as meats and produce or their deli/bakery. I don't do all my shopping here because of their prices. Normally their service is good. However today I came in and the employee doing online shopping orders was not patient and couldn't wait for me to turn the corner of the isle which caused me to hit the stacked cases of soda and at the same time ran his large cart into my arm. Not an "I am sorry" or anything. When I went to check out the checker said a half hearted sorry, I don't think he knew how to deal with it, and then said we won't file anything because no one is hurt. He did say he would talk to both of his shoppers. I am home now and my arm is bruised. I am definitely mad that this happened by an employee and I expected a better response from the store. This is my friendly neighborhood market. It's always clean and has just about anything you want. Cashiers are always friendly and they open a new register anytime there are more than 3 people in line. Their liquor department has a decent selection of wines. This review is specifically for Miguel in the Liquor department. He is very knowledgeable, and helpful. There are times I have gone in specifically to buy liquor because they have great sales. The delta variant is serious and people who are immunocompromised need to shop. While Von's can't control the anti-maskers who seem very welcome here, they can control the staff and yet they choose not to. Wearing a mask means covering your nose.
