180 Degrees Improvement since the last time I shopped here years ago! I'm impressed. Brutal, but store had to have gotten rid of many of the rude cashiers & employees. Great job! Today way more pleasant place, clean, well-stocked store with good fried chicken and meats, decent produce. Did management change? What I am most shocked about is now this store has a standalone, on premise sushi station. Yes, sushi ! I mean there's no way I would ever think THIS store, with its GENERALLY blue-collar, somewhat racist employee/customer base, not highly educated nor well-travelled customer profile, would ever eat anything so ethnic, so Asian. I expect to have sushi at Vons and Sprouts, as they both have more sophisticated customer base, but never at Stater Bros! I'm glad to see changes for the better. I've been shopping at La Verne Stater Bros for the past 11 years. 1-1/2 years ago it was pretty run down. I am so happy to see the remodel that has taken place. All the shelves were fully stocked, the store was clean and I will do more shopping here instead of Aldi's. I bought a sushi roll box and a In-House made salad, strawberry-blueberry & spinach salad. These were pretty fresh and tasty. Cheaper than going out to eat! And the staff - for the most part the personnel are cordial. Not super friendly - just okay. Drove extra time to check out the meat counter at the LaVerne Stater Bro's. The selection was good but the service was horrible. The man helping me was irritated that I asked for a cut of meat closest to the glass and made several condescending comments when I asked him to help me choose a cut that was 3 pounds. Pretty sure that's about as basic as it gets at a meat counter but this guy was clearly having a bad day. Even worse, a manager came up during our interaction and completely interrupted my service to talk to the guy about his paycheck. The manager had to be told by the meat guy to wait a minute so he could help me, and the manager also seemed irritated he had to wait. Definitely won't be coming back to this location. I have been shopping at Stater Bros. In La Verne since we moved to this area in 1995. Always great service never had a complaint until tonight! My daughter went there to buy baby formula and a cashier tried to unlock the door where formula is kept but was unsuccessful. A woman standing nearby observing the cashier's attempt to open the door with key advised the cashier and my daughter that baby formula was unavailable for purchase because they did not have the key to open the doors where formula is kept. My daughter asked her how could this be possible and in a very dismissive manner and in passing she replied there's nothing we could do about it and so it is what it is. My daughter left the store and came to the car where I was waiting for her and told me what had just occurred. I told her I would be filing a complaint with management as this was unacceptable but in order to do that I needed to go back in the store for more clarification of facts but more importantly to get the woman's name. I walked in to the store and asked the only cashier available for the store Manager. He made a phone call and a woman named Melisa came out to speak with me I asked her to please clarify why we could not purchase baby formula? She again reiterated that they did not have the keys to open the counter where baby formula is stored and therefore there was nothing they could do about it. Surprisingly, she gave herself away and said they had no keys available since Wednesday. At this point, I advised her this was simply unacceptable. How could they knowingly be without keys to baby formula. It's an important necessity. She again shrugged her shoulders as if to say to bad. I told her I would be filing a complaint with management about this incident and more importantly about her condescending and dismissive behavior. Melisa then proceeded to say "I am done with you and so you can now leave the store" I then asked her for her last name and she said she did not have to disclose her name to me and again asked me to leave the store. For whatever reason a La Verne policeman happened to walk in to the store and she signaled to him and said, "I am asking her to leave the store and so she needs to leave now". Honestly, this so call manager Melisa, clearly lacks any sort of customer service skills let alone Management experience. It's really hard to believe she's a manager of any sort but If this is the type of employees this store will be hiring then maybe it's time to shop elsewhere!! I am beyond disappointed. read more

For some reason this market has the quickest check out at register compared to other local markets on Foothill Blvd., the traffic of people is a fairly good amount but it's not overly crowded either. Customers and staff adhere to 6ft distancing, Customers are courteous, atmosphere is calm-easy going, Staff are always helpful and friendly. They always have TP in stock and paper towels however, they do limit the amount of certain items you can purchase such as the TP and paper towels- it has to be one or the other, can't buy both. Aside from that, I always find exactly what I'm looking for. Their produce always looks fresh but some items are a bit pricey. If you want to spend less time standing in line and want people respecting your space during and after the Stay at home order ends, I highly recommend my local Stater Bros., the staff working during this difficult time are much appreciated, Thank you!!! read more

This Stater Bros. is my market of choice when we have to do our weekly shopping. It is clean and the staff is helpful. It could use updating and that is why I did not give it 5 stars. The butcher shop is the star of the show. Helpful, knowledgeable and never a fuss when I ask them for something special. The grocery selection is adequate for the staples. Prices are fair and even good if you shop the specials. Not a fan of the parking though... the lot is easily overcrowded when In-N-Out is busy. But, don't let that stop you, this is a nice market and I am happy they are close to my home. read more

To Stater La Verne, I would like to take the time to write about about 4 of your employees -first I would like to thank one of the managers, Frank who although being busy so kindly assisted me with finding a particular wine bottle - thank you for taking the time to do so. Secondly I would like to thank the cashier, Nazareth for expressing interest and conversing with the customers - I've noticed that very few ever do so anymore and are more focused on getting people through their lines. Thirdly I would like to thank the bagger, Laila who was attentive and kind - thank you for wrapping my glass bottles and for asking my preferences in the manner which I would like my items bagged. So many just shove items together which end up ruining the groceries and I would just like to thank her for keeping a smile the entire time. This Stater Brothers has something magical about it. The produce is unbelievably wonderful, the holiday flair items are unique finds, the employees keep the checkout lines moving in a cheerful way despite it being so busy with customers every time I come in, and they manage to be very courteous while keeping the store really super clean. It does not look easy and I appreciate the hardship it must be; particularly when they are so close to the freezing cold air next to the door. Produce is always fresh although the meat selection is kinda small. Store is regularly cleaned and the clerks are friendly. There wasn't much costumer service while I was shopping though I had to walk to the front or the back of the store if I needed help. read more

This particular day ( 05-06-22 ) , I ran into four of your employees that had an absolute crappy disposition ... Employees that acted as if they were being put out for questions asked .. Sweepers behind tailgating , and sighing , either in disgust or because they had to relieve themselves of over-bloating .... Cashiers that act as if their working at Disneyland and feel a need to point out that their working at Disneyland and that their special .... You might want to advise these special employees , that patrons come to the store to spend their money ... , not to discuss their politics or their need to judge people walking through the door .... This was the first time back at this stater bros. , in 6 months ... That time happened to have the same ( although varying slight differences ) , type of employees with similar dispositions .... Hence the reason for 6 month lapses ... There are other nearby stores that welcome hard earned monies of visitors ... Sorry Constance ... Not normally critical in writing about businesses that have a need and need to be supported by our community ... But just advise these employees that 'If this market were in Boyle Heights , they would definitely have a less confrontational attitude' . I love this store, but dislike the bagging process. I always try to bag my own. It's not uncommon for my bananas to end up on the bottom of the bag squished. And they love to throw my yogurt in the bag where they bust open. Just got home and have yogurt on everything, sadly it is not the first time this has happen either. Wanted to commend Jen today at the express line in Stater Bros, Store 48, a customer was extremely rude to her, threw a price tag from the shelf at Jen and yelled. Jen was very professional and treated the women with respect even though the customer was pointing her finger at Jen and causing a scene. Jen is a fantastic employee! I don't know if the people doing the hiring are just that good at their job or if people working there are just that good of people but I love it here. Everyone is so kind and if you regularly shop here, they remember you. From the people sweeping the floors who smile at you when your eyes meet, to the cashiers who actually talk to YOU and not their coworkers (like at vons). Extra shoutout to the courtesy clerk (bag boy) who has glasses and is always so nice to me and offers to help me to my car, the tall cashier lady with brown hair and bangs and the cashier (who I'm pretty sure is also apart of management) with very distinct blonde streaks in her hair, they always remember me and ask about my family.
