This is for my bakery experience. I called at 5 PM the night before and the person in the bakery department. Irene was a superstar! She took my order and it was very thorough and explained everything and had the patience to walk me through the process. I didn't think I could get a cake so last minute, but I love it! We stopped by Vons looking for flowers and couldn't find exactly what we wanted. When we asked Ashleigh about adding baby's breath to a bouquet for no extra charge, she said she had to check w/her Mgr to confirm. She returned with the approval and even though that wasnt her dept, she stepped in and went above and beyond creating a beautiful custom bouquet with her own special touches. Her kindness, creativity, and outstanding customer service made our day. Thank you for turning a simple flower purchase into such a wonderful experience! I was coming back from a meeting and I decided to stop at the Vons I used to shop at when I lived in Cypress. They have improved their store, and hired new people that love their jobs. I was greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. I love the Deli foods here. They are fresh and tasty. Its easy to find everything on the isles I am looking for. Lots of parking space. I'm really sick and tired of buying fruits from you guys , getting home and having to throw it in the trash. Its gotten so bad. If you know fruits are spoiled just toss them. Don't try to pawn them off as a sale on us knowing that most people won't return fruit cause it's a hassle. I've thrown away over $200 just in the past few months. From spoiled sour watermelons , to persimmons with mold in them , pomegranate with white worms In them , spoiled mangos that are completely black inside , im a celebrity chef!! This is not my favorite Vons. It is desperately in need of a major makeover and a few extra staff members on hand when lines get long. I came in for 1 item. A single Monster Vanilla protein shake. Always located in the Gatorade isle at every Vons I've been to on the top shelf next to a few other shelf type proteins. Only problem where the heck do they hide the Gatorade? Took about a 7 minute stroll looking for it, or even an employee to guide me and nothing. Stumbled upon what I needed in the Spirit and Beer section. Last time I checked Gatorade does not fall into that category. Unless it is a necessity for the after math of drinking? 99% of Vons do not stock items this way. In fact I felt like I needed a map for the entire store. Service was non existintant. Except for the solo cashier with at least 5 people in line with full carts. Luckily as the line got longer someone came to her rescue. From now on I will stick to the Orange location or the Valley View spot. Not a fan. read more

Just went to vons and I am tired of them being short staffed, baggers doing other things and EXPECTED to put my groceries in my cart. I am paying your wages by shopping there. If I wanted to do that I would go to food for less! Plus the cashier did not greet me or thank me or ask if I found everything ok. It is really hard to get good help these days. Not sure why I get the impression that all the employees and customers here have done hard drugs recently, but thats just how it is in this location. I saw an employee throwing ice cream into the freezer which was hilarious because he missed and then put the mangled carton right in behind a better looking one. It feels like what you would want to do with this Vons location: put it behind a more functional location with non-expired food and better service. The clientele here match the service and the expiration date of the food well: definitely due for a change. read more

I am finding this Vons a blessing during the COVID pandemic. It is well laid out for foot traffic and not usually crowded. Much as I try to make my list and minimize shopping trips, sometimes I just need a gallon of milk and this is the perfect store to pop in for one. This is the only store I know where the milk is not all the way in the back! In fact, the checkout line is organized so that it passes directly in front of the milk display. If you enter the store by the left entrance, follow the arrow down the second aisle and get directly into the checkout line, you can grab milk as the line moves, and be out of the store in just a couple minutes. read more

By far the saddest Vons I have ever stepped foot in. I've been a grocery department manager for 4 years and a sales rep (for grocery stores) for another 3 years--so I've been to countless (easily 200+) different AVPs and Kroger markets. With that said, this one might just be the worst. And what's surprising is that it's in a decent part of Orange County. The ONLY reason I step foot in this store is when I need something in a pinch because it's a 1min walk from my house, but I avoid shopping here at all costs for the following reasons: -The meat department. Half the time I look to buy something it's EXPIRED. And usually by more than a week. That's inexcusable. Earlier this month I went to buy some Silva sausage (because it's one of the only brands they sell that's natural) and it had been out of code since OCTOBER. It's clear they don't sell many organic, natural, or higher end products because the selection is slim to nonexistent and often times the product is expired or close to it. -The deli. The few times I've grabbed some fried chicken and or potato wedges they're cold. Today I grabbed one chicken breast, a drumstick, and a handful of wedges to eat in the parking lot (I had just gotten out of kickboxing class and was in a time crunch and needed quick protein) and everything tasted of rancid month old oil along with being cold which I learned to expect. -The grocery dept. I understand that we're facing supply chain shortages but there's no way it's THIS bad. Every other item is out of stock. Also lots of expired items on the shelves. Also there is a huge lack of healthier options and natural brands throughout the entire store. Hell, everything it seems everything is owned by Pepsi. Now I know I can expect more commercial brands by shopping at Vons, I understand it's not Whole Foods or Mother's, but wow. Practically everything is a Pepsi or Nabisco product. In conclusion this store needs a complete revamp from top to bottom. read more

Observation from 3/17/2020 Including a local celebrity siting, I visited the Vons yesterday around 5:30 pm. Of course many shelves are empty, but you could still create quite a few meals with what was left. What I witnessed was community, a strong vibrant community. Shoppers showing off their special finds while trying to practice social spacing. Even laughing could be heard, especially in the empty pasta and spaghetti sauce isle. While standing in a not too long check out line, many were socializing. One woman asked if I liked opera and did I know that the met is streaming a new one every night? I do and I did. We started sharing our first experiences. Another discussion with several millineals about the candy bar, Bueno, and how they couldn't believe there were any left. Can't believe it took me 25 years to find this store. read more

My credit card was compromised at this location. As I checked out by a young Caucasian male on a Friday morning in December. When my card was hit with about dozen fraudulent small chargers totaling $160 I had not use this card and went to the market as I swiped my card it didn't read so I swiped about 3-4 times the last time I moved the machine for a better angle and the top fell off didn't think anything although the cashier acted strange at this point. I checked out went home and the following day the fraud started posting. After watching fraud videos...It was a skimmer device on credit card machine. I truly believe the young guy knew it was on a his checkout!! read more

I shop at this store often. It is a small store and somewhat limited in its products. Today, there was a large dog in the store that was not a handicapped dog. I am allergic to dogs. There is a sign on the the door that specifically says no dogs allowed unless for handicapped. I told the women at the register about the dog and then I became the bad guy. They did nothing about it and there was no store manager to speak to. I will no longer be shopping at this store! Apparently sanitation no longer matters!!! read more

The best way to sum up my feelings about this Vons is simply that I hate that I hate this store. What really keeps them in business is that they're right nearby, and quite convenient, or at least they SHOULD be. They drop the ball on the convenience factor just about every time I step inside, which is fairly often. Is it so hard to just keep two lanes open at all times? It's always just the express lane until it's 7-8 people deep, at which time they open another register so that the dicks at the back of the line can be the first to scurry on over. It's not just an occasional occurrence; it's every damn visit! So for that reason, I get irritated because the people that work there are actually friendly and personable. I'd recommend the managers pop their heads out of their buttholes and focus on keeping more than one register open. Also, being that they're about half the size of the average grocery these days, their selection is minimal. If you don't have a problem with the generic brands, then this shouldn't be an issue. Bottom line, this market is good for picking up a few things if you're not in any kind of a rush (read: beer runs). If you need a full-blown shopping trip then I clearly recommend the Ralphs up the street at Old Ranch. read more

I am very happy with this ruffle cake I ordered at the Bakery. Ilene did a good job. I just showed her a photo of how I wanted it to look. She was helpful and friendly too. The reason for the lost star is for a few people working there who seems to be so bored that they forget to smile even if you acknowledge them. I'm happy because my guests loved it. It was quarter of the price of almost the same cake I ordered before from a Bakery Shop close by. :) Btw, the cake was really moist. DO NOT SHOP HERE. The customer service was terrible, and I purchase some food from Vons, and had to return a few items. I went to return the items the next day and the would not take them because apparently all sales are final. At no place in the store does it say such a thing. Do yourself a huge favor and shop at the Ralphs that is down the street, they have much better customer service, more products, and a cleaner store. I will not be returning to Vons. read more

If yelp allowed negative zero stars, that's what I'd rate it. This review is for the bakery department. I ordered a cake 24 hours in advance for a birthday. I go to pick it up the next day and the same employee who took my order said that there was no cake in the back. I was so shook and found it hard to believe they didn't bake my cake. They sure didn't. I had to buy a cheesecake from Hof's Hut down the street. Big disappointment. I should've asked for a manager but didn't. Will be contacting corporate soon. read more

I go to this vons because it is only a block away. At least once every 2 to 3 trips I end up buying or almost buying expired food. I have told the clerks and the manager and didnt see any change. One time I found expired crab meat (bagged kind) I told an employee right there, he said he would look into it and walked away. Um, maybe take the expired food away? I still shop here because it is so close but I ALWAYS check expiration dates because I dont trust them. read more

This is a good grocery store. I go here despite there being a couple others that are closer to me. The biggest reason I go here is because they have a very good beer selection and I don't want to make an extra trip to a specialty store, but they also come through for me all around. I've never had difficulty finding what I'm looking for in any department there and the store clerks are very helpful when I've needed something from the back, even checking with someone else when they weren't sure if a shipment had come in. I did have a problem today with the meat department and I was very upset at first. However, Mark and his assistant handled me in a very professional manner and quickly and easily corrected the issue without any problem. I really appreciate great customer service like I got today. Those situations can make or break my relationship with a business and they came through, thank you. read more

Came here just to grab some chips and cookies but ended up spending more time waiting at the check out line. I found this place through Yelp because I was looking at the closest grocery store next to my work place. It was pretty easy to find, Google Map takes you right to the location. Be careful with the left turn while entering the complex [depending which direction you are coming from], there is a slight bump there. Even though there is ample amount of parking available because it shares the parking lot with other stores, somehow it was busy to find parking and I had to park little far from the store. Store is organized and kept clean, I was able to go straight to the chips aisle and grab what I needed. However, there is a long line at the check out counter and the staff that was helping out was not the friendliest person. One would hope that they would open up more check out lines especially for people shopping 15 or less items but I doubt the manager or staff were bothered by the long line. read more
