I love shopping here, I worked grocery for 10 years so I do look a bit differently at grocery markets. First off the new owners, Angel M & Veronica C are really on par, having worked grocery all of their careers. As with any store, be aware of current pricing on products & know when they typically go on sale. First off, their cheese selections are excellent, they have many top brands & varieties @ the best prices anywhere locally (including Gelson's)! The dairy cases are well stocked & there's often pleasant surprises to be found, deli meat selections are great. I really go for the produce; it's well stocked & maintained, you can always find ripe fruit ready to eat (avocados), plenty of variety and excellent prices. Lots of choices for salads, bagged ready to eat & lettuces, veggies & fresh herbs to build your own. They have a good selection of fresh meats & often incredible savings, you definitely want to check there. The bread department is full of different brands and types, great choices for fresh tortillas & wraps, too. The chips & snack aisles are amazing! Nuts, dried fruits, popcorn, jerky treats, cookies, crackers, they're all there! This is the perfect place to shop for a party where snacks are expected. You can't miss. The frozen food aisle, while not massive, serve up great choices for all things frozen: vegetables, fruits, fries, pizzas, dinner entrees, side dishes, ice cream, cakes and pies. The prices are beyond competitive, they make stocking the freezer and having desserts easy on any budget. Know current on pricing of soft drinks & juices. They have a huge selection of wines at great prices, also cold beer available. The general merchandise aisles are very well stocked with first aid, vitamins, beauty products, kitchen accessories, seasonal products and some hardware type needs. I've found some great finds! All in all, it's a fantastic store to shop, you can sign up for emails that tell what specials are happening. Finally, the staff are all very caring and helpful, they keep the store well stocked all day and very clean. It's a very 'small town' neighborly feeling to shop there; I feel valued as a regular shopper there. My husband and I shop at grocery outlet all of the time, we have been for 2 years, but the reason I put a 1 star review is because he was accused of stealing from the store when walking in with a dollar tree bag today. I find it absolutely absurd since he JUST walked into the store and one of the cashiers immediately accused him of stealing from grocery outlet, how does that make sense? Just had just gone in to get cereal which he PAID for. The cashier embarrassed him and I'm quite appalled. Though not as large a store as some other locations, which makes it a bit crowded with less room for inventory, I always score some of the best prices and some surprising finds. Not all prices are low, so it can take a bit of browsing, but it's always worth it. It is true you need to check the dates on items like meat and dairy, but I have never ended up with a spoiled or unusable item. They have a great selection of cheeses, with excellent prices on most. I often find brand name hummus at a great price. Organic eggs are good and priced well. I am delighted with their selection of organic and "healthier" brands for pantry. Crackers, granola, cereal and snacks are regularly discounted. I find my favorite organic (Rocky and Rosie) chicken and healthier sausages (Aidells) at a good price too. Produce can be hit or miss, but usually looks good and fresh. Packaged salads and organic convenience vegetables (green beans, sweet peppers, lettuce) have been good purchases. Fair selection of frozen items including national brands as well as gluten free, small companies and healthier choices. The dessert selections are very tempting!!! We've gotten cheesecakes and pies at very good prices. My adult daughters love to shop here as well. They have a large beer and wine department, flowers and live plants, pet supplies, coffee and tea, seasonal and household. My daughter hates this store because she thinks the cashiers are rude. She goes to the Wardlow store instead. I never really noticed until today. She wasn't really rude, but she was literally tossing the items. When she was done with mine, she did it to the person behind me too. Like literally flicking her wrist and tossing the items. I've been shopping at this location since it opened and loved the prices and selection of items. Things work differently at GO locations, but nothing that is a dealbreaker for me (bagging your own groceries, they don't have everything you might want or the brand you're looking for). For those who love a good deal they have items with near or expired sell by dates for dirt cheap (great if you have the freezer space to store things until you need it). Recently this the previous owners and many of their longer term employees moved to a different store and things have changed drastically. The shelves now have empty areas, and the goods on the shelves are being spread out so it doesn't look as empty. We shopped there for 3 weeks after the management change and found fewer things every week that we needed. Someone suggested the location on Long Beach Blvd and Willow, and it is way better. Tons of product and we had no issues finding most of the items on our list. read more

I've been going to this GO since they first opened. It's generally pretty organized, but it does a lot of volume, so sometimes they could stock the shelves a little bit better. Nevertheless, the store owner and his wife are two of the hardest working people in the business. They order a lot of different varieties of products here and always order the latest deals from GO. The wine selection is pretty good and Bash the store owner keeps his eyes out for the best deals that corporate GO offers the stores. The staff is very good - the cashiers are always so awesome and sweet and I always enjoy seeing them. Sometimes there can be a little wait, but they're usually pretty good with opening up another line. The store is a bit smaller then other stores, so it can feel a little bit cramped, but they stock it well. Not all GO's have the same square footage, that's for sure. All things considered, it's a solid 4 star GO (I have been to dozens of GO's in the SoCal area) because of the variety of the items stocked on the shelves and the prices for said items. read more

This store routinely has items for sale on shelves beyond the expiration date. Produce is often shabby. Aisles are too narrow for the enormous carts. They frequently state one price on shelves but refuse to honor that price at checkout. They just smile and say "sorry," or "we can't give it to you for that price, it was a mistake." Love this store! I started the Whole30 diet about 10 days ago and I've been back twice. There's a lot of great products here priced way below what I've seen at other stores like Whole Foods, etc. I was able to buy ghee, ketchup with no added sugar, even truffle mayo made in Huntington Beach, along with great jerky and other whole 30 friendly hiking snacks! Hard to beat the price too - got a 24 pack of Pellegrino for $4.99, although it was on clearance since it was near or past the "best by" date. Plenty of great goods to bargain hunt for. I really can't tell if this place is suppossed to be a "discount" (a la 99 Cents Only) grocery or an animal day care facility. When this store first opened, the couple that own it (Jon & Jen or whatever) had really good employees from NoCal who loved their jobs, loved the company, loved the franchise owners, and who knew wines and food. Unfortunately, they ALL left within 6 months or so. For whatever reasons (?). Now the employee turnover there is quicker than any ride line at Six Flags. A couple of years ago I witnessed a small dog defecate in the "kiddie" portion of a shopping cart inside the store. Apparently all of the employees from that time are also long gone, including the lucky one who hopefully (?) hosed out the cart. In just the past six months I have seen at least five different dogs inside this store. Twice in a row was a trampy looking white "Karen" with her little p.o.s. NOT EVEN ON A LEASH. Employees explained to me, "Oh, but she's a regular in here! She ALWAYS brings her dog!" DOH! Are you f-kidding me?! Last (and I mean absolute LAST!) time I was in there another woman (possibly homeless) behind me in line had a dog. After nicely telling her I was alergic to dogs, the cashier told me "the health department has been in several times because of complaints." Yet, once again, here was a dog - and NOT A LEGITIMATE SERVICE DOG WITH AN IDENTIFYING VEST- but a mutt owned by a pathetic human who felt they were above the law. Other reviews discuss the unsanitary appearance of the food and the general disorganized and unkempt condition of this store. Let me just add: before you place food in a cart there, ask yourself how many dogs may have crapped in it. Bon appetit! This by far is the BEST Grocery Outlet in the area! We have been to a few other ones & this particar location carries most of the items we like. Some may not know that each Grocery Outlet location is independently owned so their inventory & prices may vary a little bit. Yesterday, I misplaced my wallet. I didn't realize it was missing till today. Frantically, I backtracked where I was & called the store. They said someone turned it in & it is in their office. When I arrived, I spoke to their store manager & he brought it out. Lucky for me, all of my contents were still in place - ID, money, credit cards, etc! I hate doing this, but. The only thing I had for breakfast was a hard boiled egg and a piece of toast, which I eat every morning. I went out later in the day. Where do I begin about the Long Beach Spring Street store? I was sexually assaulted here by an employee. I was here a month ago & had 2 use the restroom. Someone came knocking on the door like there was a fire or shooter in the place. I kept yelling but no answer. In a panic, I opened the door, and this tall male employee stood there, escorting an elderly woman to the restroom, but he opened the door up exposing my naked, panicked body parts to her. I felt embarrassed and sexually violated because he was staring also. Creep. Then, He then just walked away, no apology, he never said a word. She and I shared awkward glances as I covered myself. I reported the incident to the manager who promised to inform the owner. I never heard back from the owner or anyone else in all this time. Be careful. read more

I shop at this location 2-3 times a week. Yesterday I was there and a man came in without a mask on. I asked a couple of staff if they were enforcing the current mask mandate, and was told "we're not allowed to do anything about it." I asked the manager and pointed out the man who was in the store without a mask and the manager said "oh, that guy." Seems they've had issues with him before, yet he was back without a mask. He talked to him, the guy berated the manager, and he was allowed to stay in the store. Why, in the middle of a pandemic, is he allowed to remain on private property after blatantly disregarding a public health mandate, seeming a repeated issue, and also after rudely speaking with the manager? People like that who come to my place of business are asked to leave, and asked not to return if they refuse to comply with the current mandate. I'm happy to take my multi-week business elsewhere if this location isn't interested in taking steps to slow the spread of COVID. read more

I love this store because it has a lot of stuff for a great price. However, the customer service is horrible. The cashiers (especially the women) are never polite. They never say hi or thank you and are always very rude. When asked if we needed bags, we offered to bag it ourselves and she threw the bags at us. Then she proceeded to throw our stuff as well. I enjoy coming here for the items, but the customer service really needs to be in check. There are times I avoid coming here just because of that. I needed to grab a few groceries. So I went out, got my coffee, and went to grocery outlet. This was my first time going in the store and was very surprised by the low prices. I grabbed all my groceries and proceeded to the check out line that was all the way to the back of the store. Since I had just finished my coffee I had to use the restroom. I asked an associate where the restroom was and I was told restrooms were not for customers. I left my cart full of reasonably priced groceries and went across the street to stater bro's where I was charged more money but treated like a human being and allowed to use the potty. I love Grocery Outlet for their low prices and the ability to find Whole Foods items for cheaper. However, the older woman cashier with brown hair has atrocious service skills. She never says Hello, throws your things to the end after scanning (can cause food brushing or broken chips), and never bags your stuff. Instead of helping to bag, she starts ringing up the next customer rather than helping us finish bagging. Management needs to fire her or move her off cashiering. New discount store around the corner from my house that I have been going to for about 1 year now. They have both name brand and off brand products, fresh produce, dairy, dry goods such as cereal, canned items, organic chips and protein bars, kitchen & cleaning supplies, etc. they even have a beer and wine section that offers wines from small local boutique vineyards.
