Be very careful as they are tricky with their pricing. This is the only place I know close by to work that sells Sriracha peas. The label on the bottom shelf where they are located at said $4.99. I get to the register and they charged me $6.99. I go back and the label is for something else and they actually do not have a label on the shelf for the Sriracha peas. This may not be illegal what they are doing but I do not consider it right and I do consider it misleading. Unfortunately I did not learn my lesson the first time I felt I was scammed out of something. Old manager was the bones of this place. Went in there today and the person checking me out was texting on his phone before during and after my checkout. His tag said he was the supervisor! The reason for only 4 stars is because every time we go, there is always a line, and there is only one or two lanes open. And this is at the prime times, in the evening. Other than that, everyone is great. The people at the deli counter always remember us. Super friendly, and they get you in and out quickly. The grilled chicken is the bomb. Friday nights, they have a special on the family pack, and it's a must. The guys at the meat counter are also top notch. Great customer service, and they are as fast as they come. They always give their opinions on what you are looking for, and it's always a big help. Great job! If ya'll would have more lanes open, it would be a solid 5 stars. I use this Vons everyday considering I have a business in the same shopping center. They have signs waving in the air saying " 1 2 3 is a crowd ". So I'm standing in line and there is 2 people ahead of me and 3 people behind me and no other checker is in sight. Don't advertise this if you are not going to follow through with your claim. I get up to the checker ( a young man) and I point out the silliness of their advertising hanging from the ceiling. His response..."No lady there wasn't more than 3 people in line". Being a business owner myself I can just say it is very bad when you advertise one thing to get people to stand in your lines, yet not follow through and anger your customers with your attitude. Instacart employee here. Was at the store for 45 min for an order that should have taken 20. We could not numerous items, not a single employee in the store to ask for help, a fellow shopper asked me for help because she found no one. We then ask the cashier, she said, "they are over there on this side of the wall" I go over and do not find it, she then sends her bagger to check, he comes back and says nothing. We ask for bags & the bagger didn't have bags and proceeded to pack our things without bags. They say "we don't have any more". We are on our way out & she forgot to ring up eggs. Here I go back & have to wait for her to process these as well & once again they forget I asked for a separate bag for them. We leave unsatisfied, call to speak to a manager & the phone is answered with "Hello." No "hi thanks for calling Vons I'm Los Alamitos...", we then speak to a manager who gave us attitude & ultimately hung up the phone when we mentioned they're employees seem high on marijuana or something is just not right. This vons is beyond racist. I'm a woman of color and I was treated extremely bad by the deli employees. They made racial slurs and refused to help me. I ended up leaving. I went to do a western union wire transfer and the lady was very helpful. Towards the end of the transaction she said the fee was $20. Not having cash on hand I went to buy a pack of gum and get my $20 through a cash back transaction at the register. The lady who was helping with the western union transaction wanted to double check the spelling was correct on the receipt. The cashier, who was an older blonde gentlemen with glasses, said in a very rude tone: "let's hurry this up I haven't got all day." I pulled out my credit card thinking it was a debit card, and transaction didn't go through. I asked the cashier if he could redo the transaction again, with a dirty look that he gave me and reluctance, he redid the transaction. I only shop here when I can't get to Trader Joe's. Usually overpriced and poor food options. They're signage during the pandemic was horrible and wasted the time of customers because the maximum quantities of groceries per household was not appropriate placed or wasn't placed at all. i can't believe i was almost going to make this my "regular" grocery store. when i moved to los al, i was so excited to have a vons within walking distance. i even frequented it regularly at first because i was too lazy to drive the 1.2 miles to the gigantic ralphs further down the street. it took me a couple times of vons not having ingredients i needed to realize i was gonna be switching over to ralphs. this vons is smaller than most...and i hate to say it, but dirtier too. the employees....eh...nothing special. the selection of food is very lacking. i walked here today to pick up a handful of items and almost flipped out when i couldn't find the coconut extract right away. one positive note: when the ralphs down the street is out of ice for your thanksgiving day feast, this vons will have plenty. read more

The service at this Vons location is terrible. If I could give it zero stars I would. It's obvious that everyone there hates their job. I've been coming to this store since 1998 and I haven't seen any other employee with awful demeanor to any customers, to the point that it felt like she doesn't want to provide me any help because of my skin color! GINA in the Flowers department had shown me the worst customer service in my life. She made sure that I knew she doesn't have enough time to help me.... I walked in at the store at around 5:20pm on Wednesday (5/3/17) and as I approached the counter, she greeted me with this statement "If you're buying anything, hurry up because I'm out of here by 6pm and I still need to clean my counter before I leave." I ignored her statement and went on to look for some orchids and then asked her if she can help me arrange a few orchids in a bigger vase... Her response... "That would be expensive!" I'm aware that she doesn't know who I'm giving this flower arrangement... but most people buy flowers to make someone feel special because it's a special day for them or in my case, it's for my friend who was just diagnosed with Stage IV Bone Cancer. After the "expensive" comment, I continue on picking the orchids that my friend would enjoy while she's in the hospital and I also found a vase that can hold 4 orchids. I brought all items to the counter and asked her to arrange it. Again with a very unaccomodating response, she asked "how do you want me to arrange it?" She also repeated how expensive it would cost me to buy all those flowers. Then she started arguing with me when I finally told her to stop being mean and to just make the arrangement beautiful! A series of calamities always seem to hit me whenever I shop at this particular Vons. I think a higher power is trying to tell me it's not a good idea to go to that place. On my latest trip, they overcharged my credit card by $60 and then blamed me for pushing cash back. Honestly, the only button I pushed was credit. Then they over packed the reusable bags I brought so much that the milk carton sprouted a leak, which leaked in my car. Nothing like the smell of sour milk to make you relive the horror. First of all, don't bother opening at 5am if you don't have employees who are "happily" working cashier. That bell they have in front is often ignored. So I had to flag down somebody to help at cashier. A man by the name of Julian have the biggest "not happy" mood to help, because he had to drop his shelving duties to do cashier. I enjoy this Vons. There's hardly anybody ever in here. And if anyone comes in, they are most likely to be old folks from Leisure World, so the store stays nice and peaceful. On the shopping side, I usually can find some specialty items here that I can't find at Ralph's. Also started using their gas points recently. read more

Someone needs to sell this establishment to a developer that will put in a REAL grocery store worthy of shopping in! This store is almost ALWAYS out of the products they advertise in their weekly flyer. Also, their employees, not all but enough to notice, are not helpful. I stood at the meat counter for over 5 minutes waiting for someone to come help me. This was on a Friday evening around 5:45p, so it wasn't near closing time. A guy was in the back mopping the floors and looked over and saw me a few times and never came to help nor told anyone that someone needed help at the counter. Writing this review specifically for Rebecca in the Floral department. I came in looking for simple flowers for my daughter's first birthday party. I had already made center pieces but couldn't decide on the flowers. Rebecca saw me looking around and inquired if I needed help. When I explained what I was doing she told me to bring to her the center pieces I was going to put the flowers in and she would do them for me. May I add my daughters birthday party was later that day. I was surprised for the offer but I could tell she was very sincere and with already having a full plate I welcomed the help. She said they would be ready in a few hours and indeed they were. Not only did they come out perfect but I could tell Rebecca went above and beyond. I had so many comments on them. I have come in several times after this a got my flowers here. I am more than happy to support anyone who goes out of their way to help. I have lived near by and have seen the same bad as other reviews mentioned but I also see all the good too. I have my favorites..Bob, Jen...and now Rebecca. I love this little place. It has a small town feel to it, friendly helpful staff and good deals. If you shop the sales and understand that it is a small store so they just don't carry as many items you'll be good. I love that it is right here in Los Al too. The location is just perfect. I am so glad this Vons is so close to my house. I go here when i am short on beer....and food. They carry my Blue Moon and Fat Tire so i am happy. It's not really as big as the Ralphs a mile down the road, but it has all the stuff i need. I also have a Von's card so i choose my choices wisely so i can save money. I really like this Vons also because they usually are never crowded. When it is busy, the cashiers are pretty quick and i can go in and get out quick. If my car broke down i could actually walk and get my stuff. I wouldn't want to walk because beer gets heavy after a while, but i could always take a shopping kart with me and take it back. One thing i don't really like about this Vons is that the parking is awkward. The parking spots are slanted and for some reason it bugs me. Also it's not the cleanest, but along as the food is clean, i'm good. The one time i ate the cooked food there, i was disappointed. I got some chicken strips and mac & cheese. The chicken was dry and chewy, the mac and cheese was overcooked and they still served it. read more

Yes they only have one 15 items or less register and 1 or 2 regular registers. When lines get long a staff member comes up and opens the next register. I am always please when I come in. read more

This location is going down hill very quickly. There is always many people in line and they only ever open 2 registers. I literally have to squeeze through people in line to get across the store. I was originally coming from San Diego and had great experiences with the vons down there. Coming here to Los Alamitos I was think that the quality was the same, man was I wrong. After having to deal with food almost expiring for like 2 days after I bought it i was having to eat it before it expired. Then I realized that I had bought some of the pasta that has meat and cheese in it in a plastic package and it was 12 DAYS PAST THE EXPIRATION DATE. I noticed it when I brought it home after I was getting ready to cook it. I returned it and the manager quietly gave me my money back through a bag boy (what am I selling drugs!) so that it didn't alert other customers. I told my roommate about the situation and he went there and loaded up and entire grocery cart full of expired stuff and handed it to one of the employees. I notified the corporate office and made them aware of the situation. Ill take my business to Ralph's which is a little farther down the road. read more
