Loved the donuts here!!! Came in at like 6am and they had lots of donuts. I got a cinnamon roll and loved it.

The donuts here are delicious! We came to camp at Bass Lake and drove into town on our last day to pick up some for breakfast. Coming in it's a cute little donut shop and feels warm and friendly. I consider myself a donut snob, where Dunkin Donuts is a bottom tier donut and Krispy Kreme is slightly higher, so it is here and now just after finishing a crumble and raspberry filled glazed that I can say JUDYS is top tier for sure. A mixed dozen with a couple specialty donuts, 2 chocolate milks and 2 large coffees was right around $33. read more

Rolling through the Sierra foothills on my California food tour, I made a point to stop at Judy's Donuts.. because when you see a local donut shop along your route, you stop. The place looks exactly how you hope a small-town donut shop will look: modest signage, early morning light, that smell of frying sugar calling your name. I went straight for the classics and then some: glazed, French crullers, apple fritters, and a blueberry old fashioned (because when you see something hiding behind the regulars, you backtrack). The donuts were fresh, light, and not overly sweet. The blueberry old fashioned in particular surprised me.. crisp on the outside, soft inside, and a subtle fruity twist that made it stand out from the usual suspects. What I loved is how much they lean into being "just a good donut shop." No flashy tropes, no fancy plating, just a little selection done well. There is a sizable parking lot around Judy's Donuts and there was no line to get in or to order. The workers (I think it was the family that owns the place) are quick to hand over whatever we chose. I feel like their donuts are over priced.. a dozen cost like15.99 because o can get a dozen for less than ten bucks near my home and their burrito donuts are 2.99 a piece.. which are good but harder Than i thought they'd be I also tried the apple fritter which didn't have much apple.. but I think the burritos are worth a try.. they ran out of cream cheese but I think the apple burrito and cherry burritos were the best... but overall the burritos are the best out of everything they have to offer.. read more

Found this sweet shop during a family visit and were very happy to have done so! The staff here was very friendly, and this is the only place I have ever found that has a mochi-dough doughnut. We stopped at Judy's before heading up to the mountains and they had the exact donuts I was looking for. It was Valentine's Day so we got heart shaped ones, that was exciting. Also, don't miss out on their maple bacon donut, we got it right out of the oven too! read more

Got here a little too late earlier this week. Missed out the delicious French crullers, which is my fav donut. Had a jalapeño, ham and cheese croissant and an expresso instead. JALAPENO HAM & CHEESE CROISSANT. Delish. I like the pickled jalapenos and that's what they had inside. A little beat of heat and acidity with the savory ham and cheese... *chefs kiss* EXPRESSO. Hard core straight liquid gold right here. I actually watched while my coffee was ground, dosed and pressed in the puck, and brewed. Had it with a couple pumps of vanilla and cream. Also looked like the apple fritter is a best seller here. Several people came through looking for apple fritters and they were completely sold out. DONUTS to GO! Actually took home a box of mixed glazed and sugar twists and bars to take to work. My co-workers raved about the softness. Little did they know that I had picked it up the day before. I love visiting bakeries and donut shop in the woods where water taste good. Anywhere that has good water has great pastries. I found Judy's on Yelp and I walked in on a late morning on a Friday. There were 2 Asian women sitting at the tables where customers would normally enjoy donuts. One got up quickly and went behind the counter, the other lady sat on the table still talking loudly (in Vietnamese?) on the phone. I looked at the class case where donuts were arranged. And there were some different donuts left, all mishaped and not in bright vivid colors - just the way I like. I grabbed 1 raspberry burrito donut (wanted to try cream cheese but they ran out) because thats the popular one here. I also grabbed an apple fritter and old fashioned for my brother, and a twist for myself as those are the best ones to tell the quality of the dough. It was cash only, and I think I paid a bit under $7 for these 4. We walked out. And i bit into the raspberry burrito. As I bite into it, I tasted mass produced overly sweet type raspberry jam which was rolled inside round shape pie crust, that was fried to make outside crispy and like browned like tortilla then sugar glazed. My brother thought it was like canolli but tasted less crunchy or buttery to me. This tasted like a special treat to me. After eating away the burrito, I took a bite of twist. It was so light and fluffy, it felt like I was eating cotton candy of dough. This was really nice. I never had any twist this light and fluffy. It was even lighter than George's donut in Slidell, which was my favorite donut of all time. As I leave Bass Lake tomorrow, I will stop by here again for more donuts. And I may come by Oakhurst just for these donuts. read more
