Why is it that every Vons has only 2 or 3 checkout aisles open when there are long lines? This is unacceptable

They are nice and clean and good grocery but just now a days I have to wait long line because if short cashiers

This has to be the worst grocery store in Clairemont.. maybe San Diego! It does not matter what time of day, the checkout lines are ridiculous. I don't know if they are understaffed or what. And They are always out of items. It's sad because this is the closest store to me but I will gladly drive out of my way to Ralph's. Something needs to change. read more

Best ti e to go wic shopping is in the morning. Less pressure from fellow shoppers. And the store is noce and quiet. Parking is still a reckon balboa though.pumpkins are overpriced . You can find them cheaper at trader joes. read more

They deserve negative stars because of the ghetto woman working in the bakery, I wish I got her name. Ugliest attitude and worst customer service I've witnessed in my life. She screwed up a cake and then when she got frustrated she couldnt fix it pushed it towards us and said "whatever you can fix it" I ask for a manager and two women come trying their best to figure out what was going on. As I'm explaining this nasty woman interrupts and I turn and tell her "not talking to you" and she has the nerve to get loud in front of her managers and say " you got me fucked up" lmao ..what!?!?! In front of her MANAGERS! I start laughing like wow no need to explain just look at her! So ghetto. One of the managers yells at her to go to the back over and over and finally goes and takes her in back, the other manager just says sorry. The manager that left came back and after a little patience did the best to make the cake look even a little decent. How Vons employees a person like this is mind blowing. She did this in front of her management guys ...tells you more than you need to know about how she must treat customers. I wont ever give my money to this location and what should worry vons is how many other people shes made go the other several grocery stores nearby in order to avoid her crappy attitude and non existent customer service. I hope this incident was documented because that's how u fire these types of employees. read more

Less packed then most vons. Great deals! Sign up for the club so you'll save and get better deals! You can get gas rewards when you buy, which i love and have been taken full advantage of! I buy everything here! And am always pleased with their own products as well! read more

THANK GOODNESS that this place has gotten a makeover, both the store and now the parking lot. I LOVE this store!

Great customer service. I just went in for milk and there was none on the shelf so I asked Amber a young lady in the bakery if she could check the back for some. Even while handling so many other customers for the bakery she went above and beyond to grab me some milk and a few for the shelf when she didn't have to. Sweet gal, would definitely come back. read more

It's Vons, can't really complain. The line was fast the the people were good. Just wish their prices were more competative.

The Deli is really really really good! Try the soup also...at $2.99 you can't beat it! The only problem is parking.

I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Billy at the Clairemont Dr store and Tony at the Balboa Ave store. My aunt and I were planning to make gumbo and the Clairemont Dr store didn't have any crab left in their inventory. My Billy was so accommodating, by calling a neighboring store to hold 2lbs for us. He called and Tony was waiting for us at the store. I was amazed with Tony's professionalism. He not only had the crab ready, he assisted with a few additional items. Well done Tony! read more

I don't normally shop here as I prefer Sprouts in all areas from food quality to price. I only go to Vons if my grandmother wants cookies or milk. But I will no longer be shopping here at all as today I saw an enormous cockroach crawling right down an isle. Unbelievable and unprofessional. read more

I'm pretty sure all the employees at this location hate their jobs. They are very rude & seem to be inconvenienced whenever you ask them a question or for help. read more

I gave it three stars because its just a Vons grocery store so there's not much to brag about but I don't really have any complaints. I shop here once a week and have been for the past 3 years. The prices are great compared to Ralphs and Vons in La Jolla and the lines don't normally get too long like other grocery stores in the area. I live in Clairemont but it is kind of white-trashy around here so you get those kind of people in this Vons. However, unless you're some pretentious jerk then it won't bother you. The only gripe I have about this Vons is that they have a huge organic vegetable section that they recently installed and took away a chunk of space the normal people veggies were located so sometimes they run out of red-leaf lettuce, whole grean beans, etc. read more

I like this Vons very much. They always give very good service. I ordered a cake and the baker was so professional and helpful to get me the most for my money and to give me ideas on what he can do for me. I'm a very happy customer. read more

I recently moved to the area and Vons and Target are right around the corner. I usually avoid Von's because of how expensive they are but I did not feel like fighting the Christmas shopping crowd at target so I went to Von's. I've shopped here a few times since I moved here in August and I can say they have HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The cashier that helped me tonight is the same one I've had in the past. My receipt said his name was Mike. He is so rude!! Doesn't even say hello when he rings you up. If he hadn't helped me before I would just think this guy is having a bad day but nope he seems to be a jerk on a regular basis. Von's is so expensive their customer service should be excellent!!! Forget this location. After a few unpleasant experiences, I'll stick with Target or drive over to walmart or food for less a few miles away. read more

Lots of selection and what was really nice is they had huge quantity of organic produce, the shelves were fully stocked and items were really easy to find. The starbucks staff inside the store are especially nice. I ordered a tea flavor never had before and hated it and they took it back and made me new drink with no questions. Store is also clean. read more

The bakery department misspelled my husbands name in a cake I had made. I didn't realize it until I got home. I called the bakery department and talked to this ghetto chick who clearly has no manners and no business being in customer service. She said I should bring the cake in tonight 10/19, so she could leave a note so they could fix it tomorrow. As I walked up to the counter I could hear her talking crap about me to her co worker but I didn't acknowledge it. She was super defensive when in reality I had to take time out of my night to return a mistake they made..while she's still getting paid to write a note. I felt like I was pulling teeth just to have a conversation with her. VONS, if you have a camera please check it. I've never felt so mistreated by someone who essentially was supposed to be helping...she really doesn't belong in customer service. Please resolve this matter she's shorter with blonde hair. read more

Just like the other Vons in clairemont their not prepared with cooked chicken. Always. Just dropping it in and gonna be 45 minutes. Doesn't matter if it's fried or baked. They need to anticipate the need. Especially at 5 o'clock. read more

I had the best experience with this bakery. I believe the person that helped me was named Jenn, she made me a cake, last minute, and I think she was already leaving for the day. But she was awesome in every way! Thank you so much for helping me make this day special for my family! read more

They have enough selection...prices kinda steep...but lacking customer service. I feel like everyone there absolutely hates their jobs or are forbidden to smile minus one nice produce guy read more

Thus Vons is a very sad excuse for a grocery store. There was not one thing in this store that was edible. Veggies old, limp, tired. Meat counter stinks.all proccessed corporate crap. Nothing, I mean nothing, fresh. So sad, is this what people buy? No wonder we are sick. Go to your farmers market, or at least sprouts. Feed your fabulous body sonething it can recognize as food! read more

I was so hungry earlier today and I swung by the Vons Deli for a quick sandwich out here on Balboa Ave. I forget the guys name who served me but he did a fantastic job. I highly recommend their deli and the chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich. MMm so good. Thanks Vons always a pleasure! read more

The layout of this stores checkout stands is terrible. There's little room for lines to form and there's always a line, even when every check stand is open. Avoid this location if you can. read more

Had one of the worst customer service experiences ever at this location. Before I get into what happened, the manager tried to make good of a bad situation. He helped me and then gave me a gift card for my troubles. I go to Vons to buy two little cakes. I have twin girls and that day was their birthday. I paid for the little cakes and as I was walking out I saw the balloon shop and decided to buy balloons also. There were two ladies in the area talking. I asked about two balloon options and one Mexican lady started to help me out. So far so good. When the Mexican lady finished billowing up three balloons I asked if I could pay and she said I would have to go to the register because the other lady is only one of the two authorized to run the register. I said to her, "let me get this straight, the woman saw I need balloons, directed you to help me and then decided to take a lunch break with a customer in her line??" I was thoroughly upset. I don't know if she was reprimanded or not but she represented their company poorly!! read more

I don't normally write bad reviews I try to stay away from doing that. This Vons need new management! It's horrible. Wanted to start off my shopping by getting a coffee in the Starbucks. Couldn't believe my eyes! At least 20 flies on the food in the little showcase where they keep the pastries. When I told the girl behind the cash register she replied "I know that's not my fault". Wanted to get a coffee and the girl was washing dishes saying it would take at least 20 before she would be finished. I got some cold cuts sliced up at the deli. When the kid was finished slicing up the cold cuts he looked at me and asked me if I knew anybody that was hiring. OMG! Don't like your job quit don't ask customers if they know if anybody's hiring. I used the self check out and brought my own bags. Damn machine kept calling me a thief Ha ha ha... The kid that works that section kept walking away and leaving people hanging when the machines were malfunctioning. The homeless situation at the store is atrocious. Something definitely needs to be done about that! The smell of urine and cigarettes in the front of the store is incredible. Definitely can't wait for sprouts to open up over on Clairemont Drive. read more

It's a good place for food, since you are able to pay over the market average price. And wouldn't ask for cash back, they hate give to you, it's kind of over work for them. Bad assistance for costumers, nobody knows anything about of their own work place. Really upset with Vons! read more

They gave me waaaaaay more coins than necessary. I had 91 cents as change and instead of giving me 3 quarters, a dime, a nickel and a penny they gave me ONE quarter, four dimes, three nicked and six pennies. It was a major inconvenience. read more

I hate coming to this Vons if it wasn't the closet grocery store I would never even go . I used to shop at the albertsons across the street until it closed down which was way better. Vons groceries are overpriced and not even worth the trip. On top of that they have some bad management. Don't spend a dime in this store read more

Worst Vons ever. The carts/baskets are never put back, shelves and produced barely stocked, and the lines are extremely long and slow. Not to mention all of the aisles are tiny, so it's a hassle having to past through the other shoppers to get to where you need to be. Even though this location is the closest grocery store to my house, I'll drive further to avoid it because every time I'm here it's always a negative experience. read more

I am increasingly frustrated with this Von's. The biggest frustration is the parking lot. They have the barriers set so that it is very difficult to do a big shopping trip here if the parking lot is busy, because they set the barriers so that you can't park on the end spot and load your trunk without crossing the barrier and having your cart lock on you. And if you come down the wrong aisle because you forgot you parked one over, there is no place to cross through; you have to go to the end of the aisle, but wait! There's a barrier. I had carts lock on me twice and that was enough. I had to help another customer out by standing by her groceries while she took them to her car. Finally, I have stopped doing big shopping trips at this Von's. If I can't carry it in a bag, I go somewhere else, even though this one is the closest to my house. Because this Von's has double the customers now since Albertson's closed, they fill up the spaces more quickly. Von's, can you please extend your parking area so we can shop at your store? Thank you! read more

I think I am done with this Von's..... Ridiculously long lines. And I mean ridiculous. Never anyone to ask questions to. A few of the employees are great, but for the most part, most are rude and not helpful at all. I even had one chide me for using a coupon in the self check out. Terrible parking lot. Oh! And their new baskets do not even let you roll your groceries all the way to your car. Because of the terrible parking, I had to park more toward the middle of the parking lot. Before I get to my car the grocery cart stops rolling. I had to go back and forth from the cart to my car to load all my groceries. Would be curious what the back story is with this store.... read more

This place is grossly understaffed. Lines are typically 20+ minutes, do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

We only recently started shopping at Vons after we found out about their delivery service. Grocery shopping is our most dreaded task so we were overjoyed to take advantage of it! We have only had our groceries delivered twice and so far it has been a completely positive experience. Food is well bagged, produce looks great, frozen and cold food is cold, and the drivers are extremely friendly and helpful, despite the fact that they do not accept tips! The entire online shopping experience is easy and user friendly, which made shopping a breeze. You still get most sale prices along with special online deals sometimes. My only complaint would be that some ad sales are not available online, but the majority are. I would highly recommend using Vons delivery service if you would find this to be convenient for your lifestyle as well. Delivery prices are very reasonable and free your first time, so what do you have to lose? read more

This is for their bakery. Yesterday afternoon I ordered a cake for my son's birthday (personalized) last minute. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Moving forward to the party in the evening I sent my son's DUMB DADDY to go pick up the cake and as most men DON'T pay attention he came back with a basic ice cream cake from of the bin. Grrrrrrr & Ughhhhhh! Now being that I am not a jerk I called this morning to at least pay for the cake as it is not Vons fault DADDY is dumb. The girl I talked to was completely understanding and just told me she could scrape off the writing and put the cake out. I think that showed great customer service and understanding. THANK YOU! read more

This Von's is my closest grocery store which I usually find satisfactory, however after my experience yesterday I have a different opinion. While shopping I decided to purchase a Hanukah card for family friends. One side of an aisle is 95% greeting cards. More than a quarter of it is taken up with Christmas cards, while the rest is an array of cards: birthday, sympathy, get-well, congrats, etc. Unbelievably there was NOT ONE Hanukah card. Not only was I surprised but so was the young woman assisting me. I asked the store manager if they might be located in another area (I had already been sent to the Kosher food aisle by the on-duty supervisor) Not only did she not know it they had any she was completely unaware that Hanukah starts next week. I am not Jewish and I find this totally unacceptable. Are there no Jewish families in the Clairemont area that this store serves? Is there a reason to exclude this group of individuals? The situation was blamed on the card company. I believe that the management of Von's has a responsibility to know their merchandise, to know their community and finally to be accountable. Very disappointing. read more

Most Vons grocery stores, managers and corporate policy is horrible. They run out of sale items many times and now don't offer rain checks. The manager said there is nothing she could do about it. They offer no courtesy or customer service. I know they are selling the corporation, I hope the management is all fired. read more

I'm having the worst experience at Vons. I tried to run in for a quick coffee and sandwich. This has turned into a 25 minutes exorcise in waiting. First, the staff at the sandwich cafe was completely confused by the order before me. Then, after the arduous task of completing one sandwich, the staff informed me that they can't check people out, that I'd need to do so at check out. They handed me a box, to box my own food and March over to check out. Self check out failed immediately and no vons staff could be bothered to come help me. Which sent me to another line to wait to check out. All together, a quick errand took 25 minutes some how! read more
