I don't live nearby but usually stop by for the bagels. Today on the other hand hand changed my mind about this store. Dropped in in the morning while it was slow to grab just a couple things 1. The Kiefer cheese was 4 days past expiration when I let the person know in bakery (the only person I saw) they just shrugged and didn't care as it wasn't their department. Bottom line the cashiers were rude to my wife and I simply won't be back. There are lots of options out there for grocery simply avoid this store like there plague and when it closes we can all go to a store that had good customer service. read more

Everyone was very nice and noble for the most part, except for one employee. Can't quite remember her name but she helped in the express lane this morning. When J asked her a question about blowing up a balloon that I had just bought, she asked me if I had bought it there..."yes, you just charged me for it." Her instructions were muffled unclear and there was no eye contact. All that together made me believe that she didn't really care to give me an efficient answer--even if it was a simple one. Then she proceeded to open the bag of bagels without asking me if she could and left the bag open until she finally counted and charged for them all--even when I told her how many they were. Do not ever purchase a gift card at this Vons location. The last two that were given to me as gifts have come with a $0 balance and upon checking on the cards, I was able to see that the cards were used. Obviously, there is fraudulent activity going on within this store. It could be either an employee working with the criminals or it could just be the criminals themselves but they are targeting this store. I have purchased and received hundreds of gift cards and the only fraudulent ones I have ever encountered have come from this store when given as gifts from a relative that shops there regularly. Buy at your own risk but if you do buy, do what I do and check them immediately. In this case however, the cards were purchased as holiday gifts and by the time they were received, the 60-Day Visa window for return had expired. So this store needs to alter their policy and keep all cards in a secure place because the current system is not working and it is hurting the consumer. read more

Von's Service Deli is comparable to Obama Care, you pay to much money for something and you get shit in return and bullshit service. After spending the day at USC, and dealing with the 3 hours of LA traffic. I was dreaming of a nice homemade Ham sandwich, sound pretty good, doesn't it. After picking up some bread and cheese along with some milk, I wondered over to the service deli for some fresh ham, not day old ham but fresh ham sounds pretty reasonable doesn't it. To my surprise, it wasn't. I asked the deli clerk how old was the ham, that was already wrapped in plastic, she happily said it was from yesterday, she held the ham up with pride. "like a first-time voter with her voting card in 2008 casting a vote for Obama" I asked if she could open a new ham because i would like it fresh, not a day old. NO she said, we can't do that it's against corporate rules, (NO HAM FOR YOU) it can't be done. But yes it can be done. NO sir it can't be done it's against the department rules and corporate. So I walked away ham-less, no ham sandwich for me today. As I was checking out the cashier asked if I found everything, yes I found out you can't get fresh ham, and I told her the reason why I was asking for a freshly opened ham, because of health reasons. The manager was called over, and we walked over to the deli. she told the clerk it was Ok to open the ham, but the clerk had none of it, she just argued with the manager that it was against the rules, that she couldn't do it. After about a minutes listing to the clerk and manager, going back and forth, I looked at the deli clerk and said SHUT UP. No ham, no ham sandwich, just bread, cheese and milk. There are lots of choices for grocery stores in the sun city/ menifee area but this vons is the best in terms of selection. They have a wonderful organic section for fruits and veggies! They also sell a lot of unique, fresh products. For example i love to buy their fresh marinara sauce (its refridgerated in the store). The von's fresh soups are also out of this world. The biggest selling point for me is the deli. Although most of the time the people in the deli seem irritated about their job, the deli meat (when sliced fresh) is really delicious. The checkers usually are friendly and the store is well stocked. I can find unique food products here and i love that. Also, i have had a great experience with their florist as well. The flowers are very fresh, healthy and beautiful. If you need to grab flowers (or a special plant) for any occasion, Vons is your place. The store would 5 stars but i had to take one off because the poor employee attitudes in the deli. read more

9 out of 10 times the checkers seem to be doing you a favor by checking you out. The "service" deli staff is generally bothered when they have to stop to make a sandwich, get food or do their job! The last straw with the deli was when the new manager(I think) was making a chicken bacon wrap for me, asked it I wanted it heated, which I said yes, proceeded to put ranch dressing, chicken, bacon and cheese on, then ask what else I wanted on there. I again reminded her that I wanted it hot, not understanding why she would put ranch on there first, she responded very short, "I know" She then rolled it up and put it in the oven. I refused it, call me crazy, but I do NOT want hot ranch, lettuce and tomato. Great selection of organic foods, much better than other chains. Staff is friendly and helpful. Considering its so small, it has almost everything one needs. Only thing is that their mens room is always what my husband calls the scariest bathroom he has been to in his life. That is really sad Vons/Safeway cause the ladies is not that bad usually and Albertsons is always perfectly clean. The store really needs a renovation to update it from the fifties, maybe they can tear out the filthy restroom and build a new one that they actually clean once a year, or just make it so it can be hosed down, ha. This store could use a security guard, they seem to have a lot of theft here, I see something shady going on a lot. read more

Some of the staff is Rude. Delaine in particular, every time I go in... she has a bad attitude. Tonight, she was belittling to several customers in front of me. By the time I got to the register I was dreading what she would say to me. I'm so glad to be out of that store. This is regarding the pharmacy dept. at Vons in Sun City. Gave the wrong medication for what I asked for. The bottle said generic for: (a name of an already generic medication) which is impossible. When medication made me sick, I took RX to another pharmacy & rec'd correct medicine. I purchased a 90 day supply and only used 6 pills Naturally, they won't take opened bottles back. You would think they would give discount or something...but no. I called John, the pharmacy manager, but he was the one who filled the RX. This RX was for a heart medication. Shame on this drug store. Scary! I will talk to my doctor and tell her what happened. read more

The Sun City store reminds me very much of stores from when I was growing up. Similar layout, etc. Deli is really good -- very fresh. Pharmacy has several times been able to fill prescriptions when other pharmacies couldn't. If not for the rather limited hours, we would definitely switch from Walgreens, which is a whole other book. read more

I rarely go to Von but today I thought I would give it a try. Did the shopping and on my way out I saw a scen whcih will prevent me certaibly form going there. It is Corona madness .... and one employee embraced a cashier to greed her. This is a senior residential city.... they have to be more careful! It is not when someoe is down with the illness that needs to wear masks as at that point s/he is in bed !!!! prevention is always easier than recovery and above all .... this is a service industry and theie employees should have a better undersatnding of service in present condition.... the sanitizer papr stand at the entrances of the store were empty so noone could clean the carts' handle either! read more

THE WORST grocery store in the world. They have NO quick check and really don't give a shit if you have to wait. They have the HIGHEST prices of any store in the area. For example: a small bag of Fresh Express romaine lettuce costs $3.99. Holy shit, the exact same bag costs $1.62 at Winco. It's the same across the board, THIS STORE IS A RIP-OFF. NEVER WILL THEY EVER GET ANOTHER DIME FROM ME, Shit service, shit prices, dirty store, the worst over-priced produce section all adds up to a disaster. I enjoy the selection of items they have that you don't see in other stores. Employees are nice and offer to help everyone to their car. I have been to other grocery stores in the area but I prefer to come here especially when I need to make a quick run late at night. Luckily they are now open late. read more

Have really only gone here to fill my father's prescriptions. The associates working at the pharmacy are nice and after a few visits now know who I am. My only complaint is the wait.... If there are more than 2 people in line, I would recommend coming back....you'll be there awhile. read more

Last week, during this virus issue, I was disappointed in Vons here in Sun City/Menifee. Mismanaged and insensitive to say the least. They did not limit the number of items people could buy, so many of the shelves were bare within a few hours. Winco and Aldi limited items, and few shelves were bare. So, Vons created a panic environment and pretty much helped foster panic buying. Ca-ching, Ca-ching for them. Then the manager comes out into the bakery isle (where the shelves were empty) LAUGHING, smiling and saying "Wow!! What happened to the bakery isle??!!!, ha ha". What? He thinks this is funny?? Not one person was laughing with Mr. Ca-Ching, Ca-Ching. Shoppers were quiet, serious, polite but very focused on trying to find food. This store serves a huge population of seniors who are understandably worried. This manager was ridiculous and insensitive to the people who shop there and provide him a PAYCHECK. Go to Aldi. Go to Winco. Dont give your business to these folks who also seemed to have upped prices---$4.49 for a small box of crackers. Dispicable. read more

I have always gotten very good service. I lost my coupon wallet and their stock man called me immediately upon finding it. On another occasion the meat package I loaded into my cart was dripping. I used their online grocery delivery service and the first order they promised a $15 discount, free delivery with free bottled waters and paper towels so I was excited to try it. The website kept crashing and I had to repeat my order over and over again; then they confirmed my order but did not take the $15 off nor added the free items. Finally they never charged my credit card yet called my husband while I was at work and told him that the card declined and would not deliver the groceries. He called me and I advised him that they had not charged the card. He then called their customer service back, proceeded to be placed on hold for over 40 minutes to then be told that their system has crashed and they could not pull up the order! Fast forward the next day we tried it again. This time they honored the $15 off but no free items. They charged my card and delivered on time....so far so good right? WRONG! My son went to make a sandwich and opened up a package of molded and mildew covered lunch meat!! I called them to report the issue and their response was a $10 credit toward future deliveries!! Are you kidding me?! My son ate a corner of the meat before pulling it completeley out of the package to see the mold! What if he gets sick?! I was nice to their customer service rep because it's not his fault and told him thank you but I will not accept $10. This is crazy. We just moved here and this is my first experience with this store and needless to say it was not a good one and I am not finished with this yet! The store is clean and well stocked with much better shoppers than the other grocery stores in the area (maybe I am a little bit of a snob). Love the bakery and deli section. The service use to be great, but over the years all of the best employees have been transferred to other stores. This store is getting a bad place to shop. I have shopped here for almost 9 years. The staff seems to be different although when I mentioned it to one checker she haughtily told me she has worked here for years. I guess I don't shop when she is on duty but I go there at different hours and days. They stop carrying things and stock with other products I do not want. I have started going to Target to get the products even though Vons tells me they have discontinued the product. Today I placed a delivery order and they have changed the website. It was very, very difficult to use. So bad I lost my delivery scheduled time and had to postpone it until tomorrow. I got booted out or the system just ran and ran and did not produce anything. I had to reenter info several times as it would accept correct info that was used previously. I just returned from vacation and need some of items tonight because I am ill.
