Not everything has a price, but it's early

Grand opening weekend, just months after opening. Another stop in and a paruse of all the isles, carnisaria, and kitchen I must report improvements in all areas. This is a family run operation and the big difference today then from my visits in the first two weeks is that everyone is smiling. This tells me things are better under the surface as well. Big improvement in the kitchen with a big menu, it not only smells great but every table was full, with several waiting. It's not the biggest Mexican grocery but it might be the best. Clean, friendly tasty, and with fair prices. Do stop in and take a look for yourself..

Wet Carne Asada Burrito.

I grabbed a wet asada burrito, the best I've had in a long time! Hefty portion too! A hole in the wall place that delivers quality food and great customer service.

Visited recently and was hoping for a one-stop grocery for all our Mexican food needs since Cardenas is a bit far to travel to. One thing this market lacks that any good Mexican market should have is a tortilleria. They have pre-packaged tortillas from other vendors and the choices are not good. I picked up some tortilla de harina and they were crumbly after warming and tore when folded. The choice of produce is lacking and overall selection of products is poor. They do serve hot food which is why this place earns two stars from me. We got a carnitas burrito and it was pretty good and they also have a salsa bar for your hot food. Unsure if I'll be back since I can get a good burrito closer to home, what I really needed was a decent grocer.

First time visiting this market/restaurant. They had only four tables to sit at if you wanted to order something from the hot food counter. Very clean place but it's really mostly a Latino market. We ordered the combo plate that included three street tacos, rice and beans. The food was pretty descent and hot. Will I go back? Probably not because it's just not my vibe. The meat counter was impressive although prices seemed a little high. If you like Latino food for a market this place is for you.

Running errands today and saw this location and popped in for a cold soft drink. What a surprise. This family has taken old tenant area within this building and totally remodeled it. As you enter the building to the left, they have a standard community market. A full meat counter with the butcher and basic grocery needs along with fresh Mexican sweet breads. To the other side, they have opened a full kitchen and food items are displayed buffet style. The smell was unbelievably good. A variety of fresh cooked Mexican food items, including a chicken, pork, beef, and of course rice and beans. They explained that they will be having a grand opening soon and we're still in the set up, but I can't wait until we can enjoy some of the delicious looking food items that I saw. They do have table seating for approximately 15 to 16 persons and are happy to have those buying lunch or dinner on a Takeaway basis. And to be noted, this place was spotlessly clean and well organized. This is another chance for us in the Menifee area just to support a small family business instead of the large chains, which never seemed to appreciate us or our business. Let's give these folks a shot OK

I touch it and look at it, but I can't quite do the DILL PICKLE one BUT maybe one day?! The produce is very nice and they have an olive oil and food bar that is very attractive. They also carry KETTLE brand UNSALTED chips, which are Bomb Diggity! The "cookie bar" where you choose your own cookies by the pound is out of this world and satisfies your sweet tooth itch BIG time. There is a nice section of granola and many corn chips to choose from, my favorite are the LA FORTALEZA stoneground corn tortilla chips, restaurant style- NO preservatives NO cholesterol, gluten-free and a huge bag for around four dollars, it's insane!. When you walk in the door, there's a great floral selection. I always browse and look, they're beautiful. The staff is nice, easy-going and very helpful. Of course there's plenty of parking, it may be "pricer" than other stores, but the merchandising, and aesthetic is well worth the trip for certain items. By the way, don't you just hate the new trend of the large grocery chains often times owned by one conglomerate that have like three or four or five different prices on each item depending on whether you have a phone number, an electronic number, an email, a text, and all that crap it's just very confusing?! Baron's is upscale and clean and well organized and has unique items without overdoing and replicating product like other grocery stores do. I'll keep it in my rotation and I hope you do as well. Enjoy.

Everything else was fine this is just specifically for the food. (Those item) I want to come back and try more and give more updates. They have breakfast and fresh waters and mini market. They charge higher for products you can get far cheaper elsewhere. Take for instance Campbells Chunky Soup. $5, sometimes $6 a can? Delusional. Practically any other store would charge lower. Their cereal prices are also absurdly bad. Also they finally stopped printing an extra 1/4 sized receipt after the main receipt is done printing at self check out. It was a small thing but it was super annoying and a waste, thanks for stopping that. I didn't put this in the good or bad section because I know it has nothing to do with this specific location, and is a corporate issue. The Bad: This location has only one usable exit. The two entrances are one-way. You forgot a cart? Too bad, the alarm starts screaming. I'd be less annoyed with this if the only usable exit didn't have solicitors harassing me about their stupid political petition. They have been there almost every time I've gone for the past few months. That alone makes me not want to come back here. Shoppers should be able to perform their errands without having persistent jerks parked outside all day ready to spring on you with their political agenda. Yes I can ignore them, and I do, but the fact that Alberstsons allows them to be there makes it feel like they truly don't care about your shopping experience, and that they endorse their political agenda. I don't know what political side it is and I don't care, I shouldn't have to deal with that, and neither should you. On top of that, the one usable exit is behind all the cash registers, which means its extra congested and awkward. There's hardly any room to exit if you have a cart. No planning for traffic whatsoever.

In the half hour we were in the store walking around, we were greeted by one employee. No one is at the service desk until 10 AM, nobody in your floral department to help because she walked off chatting with a friend when we walked up and no acknowledgement. Prices are insane, a case of high noon was priced regularly at $32.99 and I bought two paltry bouquets of flowers for $30. You have so much to choose from but their preassembled mixed bouquets always look like they are on their last leg. Came home to unwrap them and the flowers started breaking off the stems. Disappointing quality and service today!

Sprouts, sprouts, SPROUTS! If I were asked to select one…read moregrocery store for all of my needs, this is it hands-down. I sort of think of it as a more sophisticated TJ's. The service is very special and unique. The stores are always clean and well stocked. There isn't a lot of useless items or extra added depth of similar product. I mean, how many blueberry jams do you really need? Hot sauce in a bottle? I think a 3 or 4 options is probably sufficient. It's succinct, to the point, and uncluttered and easy to navigate. I really dig the produce cause it's always attractive and I look for the sale items. I prefer the USA items as opposed to imported so I pay attention to the labels. I also have signed up for specials and accumulative points for discounts, which is very easy to do and it keeps you in the loop. Each time you buy your groceries, have your barcode scanned to keep a record. I keep it in my phone with easy access. You will also NOT encounter five or six different prices on each item like some of the big chain stores practice! You know, those HUGE conglomerates! I've had to walk out of those stores cause I'm so confused. Internet price, member price, E price, ad price, radio price, TV price, buy 6 unit price, etc. etc. etc. : Every time I pick up a can of beans I'm looking for Bob Barker in aisle seven! This would even confuse a veteran of " THE PRICE IS RIGHT"! The bakery goods are a nice delight, and if you get there early in the morning you might find some half price items that didn't sell the day before. There's also a sandwich shop and I'm told you can get a sandwich as low as $5.00? I'm not sure if that's true. I've never done it, but that's what some folks have told me. So, you might have to check for yourself. There are those bulk bins for nuts, coffee, candies, dried fruit, and more by the pound $. There's a limited beer section but nicely curated along with a decent selection of wines. This is one area that needs improvement in my opinion. It would be nice if there was more of a beer selection and the ability to buy any single can? I believe this works and they'll always sell out anyway. Or maybe they don't want to dedicate the space? They also have a meat department, (which I stay away from) but those who do partake would enjoy I'm sure. (I refer to these areas as animal cemeteries.) I look for a lot of the vegetarian items such as plant based desserts, and faux dairy items that are actually plant based. Ie: plant butter (which is delicious) and coconut milk for example (my favorite when it comes to something to pour on your granola). There is a frozen sorbet brand they carry, "GELATO BOY" that often times goes on sale that is absolutely fantastic. I really enjoy the "3BERRY" or the "MANGO". Keep an eye out for the sale price as it's almost half price when it does go on sale! The canned beans and corn are a good value and on sale today at 4 cans for 5$! I try to buy the unsalted ones which are so good for burritos. You can find fresh flowers daily to bring to your sweetheart or maybe if you're looking for one? There are an amazing amount of coffee beans in nice plexiglass bins sold by the pound with a commercial grinder available to "chop it up" to save you the trouble at home. Parking is always accessible, and there are other intriguing businesses in this little "mini mall" over there off of Newport. If you haven't been, get on over there! Or, if you are a regular go more often to accumulate your di$count points. Be sure to say "hello" to the friendly, charming, efficient, young lady that mostly works as a cashier with purple hair and her name is Kennedy with a "C" and she's a great ambassador of Sprouts!
