Currently, this restaurant takes reservations only over the telephone, not online. My husband and I ate one lunch here. The seating hostess and waitress served us promptly and politely. The menu listed foods such as wings, crab cakes, salads, sandwiches, bowls, pierogies, tacos, chicken marsala, and salmon and drinks such as wines, cocktails, mocktails, sakes, and beers. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Duck Wontons - 4.5 stars - Wontons contained bacon, duck, onions, garlic, Swiss cheese, and French onion broth. Very flavorful. Deviled Eggs - 4.5 stars - The deviled eggs were filled with avocado, bacon, and tomato slaw. Shoot the Breeze - 4.5 stars - This entree consisted of a 14-ounce ribeye with chimichurri, pickled red onions, potato gnocchi, and garlic alfredo. The ribeye was juicy. The gnocchi were nicely cooked. Chicken and Ribs - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this special of chicken breast, St. Louis ribs, potatoes, and corn on the cob. He said that the grilling gave a better taste and that he enjoyed the Korean BBQ sauce. You're Doing Great - 4.5 stars - This mocktail contained non-alcholic orange aperitivo, lemonade, cherry, cucumber, and soda. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FROM START TO FINISH 10/10! Perfection. Everything about Talbots is absolute perfection. I eat A LOT of food, and one common denominator I see among top-tier restaurants is that the owners and management are a direct reflection of the overall experience, quality, and taste. Talbots is no different. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, like lifetime friends. Our waitress, Teresa, was fantastic. She passed all the vibe checks and matched our energy immediately, all the signs of a veteran server you want guiding you through one of the best eating experiences of your life. She gave us her recommendations and left us to decide. We knew we were here for the #hashtagyouwont 36oz ribeyes, but we wanted to see what else was recommended since everything looked and sounded amazing. We decided to order a lot of food, almost everything that was recommended. This will be a bit of a long-winded review, but I'm sure the true foodies will appreciate it, so here we go: THE APPETIZERS The Brie: How can brie be so good that it deserves to be talked about first? I have no idea, but it was excellent. The strawberry-jalapeño jam, brie, candied pecans, baby naan, and fruit just worked so well together. An absolute hit. Pork Cheek Tacos: These melted in your mouth and exploded with flavor. They were also a really decent size, we were expecting little bite-sized tacos on a dumpling wrapper, but got two substantial tacos instead which was a pleasant surprise. Naan Bombs: Flat out delicious, and there were enough in the serving for everyone to have a few. Duck Wontons: So unique and flavorful. These were like little empanada explosions of flavor. THE MAIN EVENT: THE 36OZ RIBEYE When I tell you this was a perfect steak, this was a perfect steak. Cooked medium rare, oozing with flavor, and charred to absolute perfection on the outside. That is no easy feat with a cut this size, but somehow Talbot and crew made it seem like a walk in the park. Hidden under the steak, soaking up all the juices, are the house cut fries. I forgot they were even there because of the sheer size of the meat! By the time I discovered them, they were soaked with steak juice, but somehow remained crispy and soggy at the same time. It was brilliant, the fries almost had a poutine like aspect to them. Magnificent, completely unique, and made so much sense. As for the side of corn salad.... absolutely mind blowing. It just looked like corn with some sauce on it, nothing special at all. I am so sorry I underestimated you, Mr. Corn Salad. My God, this stuff was amazing. It didn't make sense to me, but I didn't care, I just kept shoveling it into my mouth. DESSERT We saved room for dessert (of course) and got three: The Chocolate Cake: A plate of pure, chocolaty goodness. Pecan Sweet Potato Pie: Spectacular. Coconut Cream Cheesecake: Wow. I am a sucker for coconut and cream cheese anything, and this checked every single box. THE VERDICT Throughout the night, we watched Talbot go up to each table to check in on everyone, and the chef even came out to talk to us. It was an absolute perfect meal top to bottom, start to finish. You can tell how much this entire establishment cares about what they do, and it is a direct reflection on the food. It's not often I can say a meal is flawless, so I have to give them their flowers in a long well deserved review. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation for Talbots Taproom. P.s. Extra kudos for all the cool art and overall atmosphere. There is a ton of stuff to do outside as well but we were there on a chilly night so remained inside. This is really one of the best places to dine in Western PA. Great food, excellent staff! Don't be scared of limited reservations as they do not reserve all their tables for any meal. How many restaurant owners travel to dine in far away locals just to learn new dining offerings to bring back to Western PA? Talbot does! After another day at the outlet mall (ugh) we decided to drive over to Mercer for lunch, and found Talbot's on Yelp. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and it's on the outskirts of town on a mostly residential road, but don't judge a book by it's cover. Talbots it great and it's super cozy and covered with eclectic art throughout. We were quickly seated at a high-top next to the bar and our waitress was very nice and very quick. The menu was a surprise for a somewhat rural place, with many higher end offerings - steaks, chops, seafood, etc. It was lunchtime, and I typically try new places by first going with the basics, so I ordered the chicken sandwich (so did my wife). It was, without reservation, the best chicken sandwich I've had in years. This is not some frozen chicken patty dressed up to look fancy. No, this is hand breaded goodness with a rainbow of subtle, yet expertly curated condiments that all blended together to complement this wonderful creation. Superb! The real fresh-cut fries also demonstrate that this place is all about quality. The only caution I would offer is that you better be hungry if you order this thing. I could barely finish, and my wife brough half of hers home - best cold chicken ever. We wanted to try one of their deserts too, so we took a slice of the apple crumb cake home. It was also excellent. Anyway, the place was clean (if a bit rustic), the staff were super friendly, and there was a good buzz with multiple customers even on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I went to Talbots yesterday. My family and I were looking forward to the 36 ounce Ribeye steak. We had made our reservation 2 weeks in advance. We drove a hour and arrived a hour early for our 7pm reservation. We were seated at 645 pm. Our waitress came and we ordered our food before 7pm. At 800 we hadn't received any refills of our drinks and we did receive the pretzel appetizer. How long could it take to warm that up? We found out after a hour our waitress never gave our order to the kitchen. We finally got our pretzel appetizer at 815. 835 still no food. Several people who came after us were getting their food a whole table of 8 beside us got their food many of them got the steak. My kids were getting upset because they were hungry and one of them started to cry. At the same time the table of 8 was drinking and dropping the FBomb every other word that my kids could hear. We got up and voiced our complaints and asked for management. The manager was unconcerned so I asked for the owner and she stated that he wasn't available. We never did get our food. My kids cried while we were driving home because they were hungry and so disappointed. What a horrible Nightmare experience!!! read more

I keep telling people to check out Talbot's! Had my annual dinner at the bar here last night. I always get the OG, filet is always cooked properly (medium rare) to my liking. They have killer mashed Yukon gold potatoes. I got the bourbon maple carrots as a side. I did the scallops appetizer, the sauce was the bomb. I went with a Modelo bottle, since the $8-$9 price tag for crafts is a bit steep IMO (that's my only complaint here). Bartenders & servers are always friendly. If you were coming at prime time expect to wait! I arrived on a Friday around 4:30 and by 5 o'clock, there were people waiting up to an hour to get a table. They have a great outdoor patio & backyard space too. This restaurant is off the beaten path for sure, but well worth your time. The artwork is awesome too. read more

There was a 40 min wait but it was Saturday so expected. We got seated on the patio. Server was great. Had Crab dip and lobster stuffed mushrooms which were hot and amazing. Had some Union Brothers beer which was light and refreshing. The dinner took a little time to come out but it was worth the wait! I had the salmon and jalapeño corn. Best salmon I ever had. I had the salmon entree with came with asparagus, Mexican rice and mango. It was one of the best salmon I've had. Cooked to perfection, not dry, with just enough juice. Alex had the Rueben and also said it was one of the best he had! The location is in Mercer, Pa. They do take reservations and are highly recommended, it isn't a large restaurant but there is outdoor covered seating on a patio during warmer weather seasons! When he denied that they ever had a dedicated frier, then I said well then you people glutened me several times. He then said "we will never have a dedicated frier" So screw him. We haven't been back since: What these restaurant owners don't understand is medically Gluten Free diners have family & friends who dine with them. That's a lot more than a single customer loss. My parents come here all the time and never have had a bad meal. I ate here once as my going away dinner before leaving for my job with the Navy and this was honestly one of the most memorable meals I've ever had I cannot wait to come back home and eat here as much as I possibly can. We started our night with the crab dip which was bursting with flavor and creaminess. It brought a smile to my face after the first bite. From my parents experience they recommend that the specials were the way to go so that's what I had to do. I ordered the "you're still the one", love the names they give their dishes here but it was a sea scallop, grilled flat iron steak cooked to perfection (medium rare), charred corn risotto, candied bacon, truffle oil, tobiko. This dish was an appetizer but it filled me like a full meal which seems to be the memo for this place. The corn risotto was so creamy and not lacking on any aspect. Flavor & presentation was all coming together and everything was cooked perfectly. All entrees could easily be split into 2 and are set at a very standard price. I remember my mother order a dish called the "Roger that" which was a homemade ravioli stuffed to the brim with braised beef cheek then top with more beef cheek. This beef was so tender, juice, and bursting with flavor and I felt like we had a whole pound of meat on the dish. The ravioli was super fluffy and cooked beautifully. We got desert as well as everything is made daily and we were not let down. We got a piece of peanut butter pie which is always one of my favorite deserts 10/10 and we also ordered a slice of carrot cake which was about the size of my face! I'm hesitant to post this because I want to keep this place all to myself so it doesn't get too busy because this restaurant is really something special and I treasure it.
