ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FROM START TO FINISH 10/10! Perfection. Everything about Talbots is absolute perfection. I eat A LOT of food, and one common denominator I see among top-tier restaurants is that the owners and management are a direct reflection of the overall experience, quality, and taste. Talbots is no different. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, like lifetime friends. Our waitress, Teresa, was fantastic. She passed all the vibe checks and matched our energy immediately, all the signs of a veteran server you want guiding you through one of the best eating experiences of your life. She gave us her recommendations and left us to decide. We knew we were here for the #hashtagyouwont 36oz ribeyes, but we wanted to see what else was recommended since everything looked and sounded amazing. We decided to order a lot of food, almost everything that was recommended. This will be a bit of a long-winded review, but I'm sure the true foodies will appreciate it, so here we go: THE APPETIZERS The Brie: How can brie be so good that it deserves to be talked about first? I have no idea, but it was excellent. The strawberry-jalapeño jam, brie, candied pecans, baby naan, and fruit just worked so well together. An absolute hit. Pork Cheek Tacos: These melted in your mouth and exploded with flavor. They were also a really decent size, we were expecting little bite-sized tacos on a dumpling wrapper, but got two substantial tacos instead which was a pleasant surprise. Naan Bombs: Flat out delicious, and there were enough in the serving for everyone to have a few. Duck Wontons: So unique and flavorful. These were like little empanada explosions of flavor. THE MAIN EVENT: THE 36OZ RIBEYE When I tell you this was a perfect steak, this was a perfect steak. Cooked medium rare, oozing with flavor, and charred to absolute perfection on the outside. That is no easy feat with a cut this size, but somehow Talbot and crew made it seem like a walk in the park. Hidden under the steak, soaking up all the juices, are the house cut fries. I forgot they were even there because of the sheer size of the meat! By the time I discovered them, they were soaked with steak juice, but somehow remained crispy and soggy at the same time. It was brilliant, the fries almost had a poutine like aspect to them. Magnificent, completely unique, and made so much sense. As for the side of corn salad.... absolutely mind blowing. It just looked like corn with some sauce on it, nothing special at all. I am so sorry I underestimated you, Mr. Corn Salad. My God, this stuff was amazing. It didn't make sense to me, but I didn't care, I just kept shoveling it into my mouth. DESSERT We saved room for dessert (of course) and got three: The Chocolate Cake: A plate of pure, chocolaty goodness. Pecan Sweet Potato Pie: Spectacular. Coconut Cream Cheesecake: Wow. I am a sucker for coconut and cream cheese anything, and this checked every single box. THE VERDICT Throughout the night, we watched Talbot go up to each table to check in on everyone, and the chef even came out to talk to us. It was an absolute perfect meal top to bottom, start to finish. You can tell how much this entire establishment cares about what they do, and it is a direct reflection on the food. It's not often I can say a meal is flawless, so I have to give them their flowers in a long well deserved review. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation for Talbots Taproom. P.s. Extra kudos for all the cool art and overall atmosphere. There is a ton of stuff to do outside as well but we were there on a chilly night so remained inside. Service and the bar was upbeat, friendly and overall excellent from "Good Morning" bartender "P". Drinks were good. Wife had the Always Sunny which she enjoyed. Steak was well seasoned and cooked properly. I had the Asian BBQ, Nobody Likes a Party Pooper. Everything tasted pretty good but was all cool. NOTHING came out hot. I keep telling people to check out Talbot's! Had my annual dinner at the bar here last night. I always get the OG, filet is always cooked properly (medium rare) to my liking. They have killer mashed Yukon gold potatoes. I got the bourbon maple carrots as a side. I did the scallops appetizer, the sauce was the bomb. I went with a Modelo bottle, since the $8-$9 price tag for crafts is a bit steep IMO (that's my only complaint here). Bartenders & servers are always friendly. If you were coming at prime time expect to wait! I arrived on a Friday around 4:30 and by 5 o'clock, there were people waiting up to an hour to get a table. They have a great outdoor patio & backyard space too. This restaurant is off the beaten path for sure, but well worth your time. The artwork is awesome too. read more

We went to Talbots with my parents for my birthday. Our waiter, Ryan, was awesome! He was so nice, accommodating and funny! He provided some great feedback on questions we had on the menu. We ordered the pretzels with nacho cheeses and mustard & the pepperoni balls - both were very good but definitely a filling appetizer options. I had the salmon entree with came with asparagus, Mexican rice and mango. It was one of the best salmon I've had. Cooked to perfection, not dry, with just enough juice. Alex had the Rueben and also said it was one of the best he had! The location is in Mercer, Pa. They do take reservations and are highly recommended, it isn't a large restaurant but there is outdoor covered seating on a patio during warmer weather seasons! * 3 months ago Unfortunately the owner doesn't care much about Gluten Free customers any longer. He believes that because they are so busy, he doesn't have to worry about losing any business. First - he lied when l asked about the fries that were supposed to be fried in a dedicated frier. They were VERY clear when we first start going there years ago that the fries were safe for me & they used a dedicated fryer. When he denied that they ever had a dedicated frier, then I said well then you people glutened me several times. He then said "we will never have a dedicated frier" So screw him. We haven't been back since: What these restaurant owners don't understand is medically Gluten Free diners have family & friends who dine with them. That's a lot more than a single customer loss. My parents come here all the time and never have had a bad meal. I ate here once as my going away dinner before leaving for my job with the Navy and this was honestly one of the most memorable meals I've ever had I cannot wait to come back home and eat here as much as I possibly can. We started our night with the crab dip which was bursting with flavor and creaminess. It brought a smile to my face after the first bite. From my parents experience they recommend that the specials were the way to go so that's what I had to do. I ordered the "you're still the one", love the names they give their dishes here but it was a sea scallop, grilled flat iron steak cooked to perfection (medium rare), charred corn risotto, candied bacon, truffle oil, tobiko. This dish was an appetizer but it filled me like a full meal which seems to be the memo for this place. The corn risotto was so creamy and not lacking on any aspect. Flavor & presentation was all coming together and everything was cooked perfectly. All entrees could easily be split into 2 and are set at a very standard price. I remember my mother order a dish called the "Roger that" which was a homemade ravioli stuffed to the brim with braised beef cheek then top with more beef cheek. This beef was so tender, juice, and bursting with flavor and I felt like we had a whole pound of meat on the dish. The ravioli was super fluffy and cooked beautifully. We got desert as well as everything is made daily and we were not let down. We got a piece of peanut butter pie which is always one of my favorite deserts 10/10 and we also ordered a slice of carrot cake which was about the size of my face! I'm hesitant to post this because I want to keep this place all to myself so it doesn't get too busy because this restaurant is really something special and I treasure it. My 4th time going there and I've had 2 bad dinners so far and my dad had a bad one yesterday. The other two were amazing. I had the steak dinner and the steak had no flavor at all no salt no nothing. And my most recent bbq platter dinner special half the food was cold. When it's good it's phenomenal and will say it's the best within an hr. I could work in the kitchen if needed. I cook and bbq for parties so my food palette is way above the average guy and gal. But I think I'm done going after spending 130 bucks for my dad's b day his 52 dollar seafood dinner was horrible. We really Enjoyed this excellent restaurant. We visited with 8 friends and the staff could not have been more accommodating and nice . From the road we might not have stopped in however once you're inside it has a really cool vibe. Our server was awesome, very helpful, accommodating and nice. Menu was fantastic including the specials with everyone in our group having a different meal that was plentiful, enjoyed apps and all well priced. However, not enough room for dessert and they looked delicious. Bar menu was awesome, good selection of cocktails, brews on taps and bottle. Looking forward to a return trip in warmer weather as the outside venue looks just as awesome as the inside. We drove more than an hour and enjoyed this gem of a find.
