    Frozen drinks

The drinks were excellent the service was impeccable. The bartender was very knowledgeable. Very kind. The ambience is definitely a New Orleans feel.

Cool little daiquiri spot with a fun dive bar feel. They have a small parking lot next door and I managed to get a spot in there no issues. They have food and I tried the boudin balls which were delicious! It was quite busy in there and they only had 2 bartenders so service can take a while. All in all I would Deff go back again.

Nut allergy warning: be careful of almond liqueurs. I kept to beer to be cautious. Indoor is large and outdoor has a few tables. Parking is street or a small lot with about 20 spots. Fun little dive bar. Two pool tables, air hockey, a photo booth, and some different seating. Large tater tots took about 20 minutes to come out, so food will be a little while if you order any. The tots were decently crispy and definitely sharable. Shrimp was OK. Drinks are fast if there's no line. Very reasonable drink prices ($6-9 for a 20oz goblet, $12-15 for frozens), and eight frozen cocktail options are great. The rotating IPA was the Brash Cali Green while I was there. After tax and tip I paid about $40 for three goblets and large tots. I would recommend they make bathrooms gender neutral or make it clearer if they are... Surprising line for male restrooms in the evening. Obviously, depends on the crowd. Great for a date, hanging out with friends, or anything else.

I am extremely disappointed with my visit to this bar and I will NEVER return. Came here based on a recommendation with a group of friends and immediately felt unwelcome. The manager or owner, whatever she wants to call herself, already gave us side looks at the bar. Not sure if it was based on race or sexual orientation which would be crazy since she looked like she might possibly be lgbtq and a minority. One friend forgot their ID so they left to get it and upon arrival was turned away due to the top black barcode being taped together. The birthday was still visible and valid but they were still told to leave. They wouldn't even let them stay while we finished a round of pool. I called the "manager" racist and IMMEDIATELY they got upset and was in my face and was very aggressive. Thankfully the Mill was next door and the vibes were soooooo welcoming! We had a great time speaking with the bartender, playing pool, and even did karaoke. The unprofessionalism from this establishment is comedic, even in their responses to our reviews. This bar lacks professionalism and accountability and I suggest spending your money somewhere else where everyone is welcome.

    Banana Hammock
    Nick R.

The Banana Hammock was absolutely delicious. Was cautioned they could only make one more, I kept at the opportunity and it was worth it. The food was mostly great. The shrimp with hush puppies and tater tots was very good and beautifully seasoned. The eggroll was nothing special in a good way, it satisfied exactly the craving I had for it. Although the bread and trimmings on my PoBoy were lovely, the debris itself, while a beautifully rich texture, was very underseasoned. Would I go back, though? Absolutely.

Food...I was highly disappointed by my meal...the fried shrimp batter fell apart and was not seasoned. The drinks were not good but looks pretty. Service was ok, very much a dive bar. Ambiance was dirty needs cleaning. Not returning.

I enjoyed my first visit to this daiquiri drive! They have pool inside you could play, a nice amount of seats as well, and a bar area of course. The service was pretty good, my bartender was attentive and she was friendly. They have lots of different drink options here, I didn't know what to choose! Our food was pretty good, no complaints there. I noticed there was all types of people here, I mean alllll types. It was pretty cool to see quirky, rockstar, hipster, and the too cool crews all in the same place. There is outdoor seating available!

Fried and blackened chicken strips with tots, fries and hush puppies $10.68 whichever basket. Crazy cheap

Voodooo is a real laid back bar, food is really really good and super cheap. A must try is hush puppies and chicken strip baskets. Fried and blackened are great giant strips and very juicy. Easily beat strips I've ever had. Also play good music have pool tables and a ski ball table. Gets busier around 10:00 - 11:00

Only one size of daiquiri: Boo! At least it takes great.

We stopped by last Friday since the Cidercade had a line that was not even worth waiting on. We rolled in around 9:30 and it was decently crowded, but not too bad. The wait on drinks however was unacceptable. So slow. When I tried to get the larger size for the daiquiri they told me they only do one size (the small one). I asked about the bigger cup next to the one he had grabbed. He informed me that it was only for mixed drinks. Seems like a lost revenue opportunity and also a way to keep their line shorter. The daiquiri itself was pretty tasty, but I'm pretty sure it was a lack of alcohol and a good amount of sugar based drink. Will I be back? Possibly for one drink for the night if I'm on that side of town. Not making a special trip across town for it. I did like White Rhino across the street a lot better.

We went here for a friend's birthday on a Thursday. We had reservations for a large group but I don't think it's necessary if you are going solo or as a couple. The staff is really nice and the decor is extravagantly kitschy reminding me of the waiting room in the Beetlejuice movie. Which makes sense given the headshrinker in that movie. Being a tiki bar, there's a vast selection of drinks ranging from $18-42 depending on the size. They gave us a complimentary entry drink and I think there was a two drink minimum. I had a Bay Breeze and a Bitter Bird. Tasted the Silver Surfer. All were okay, but I haven't been impressed by too many sweet cocktails.

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

They have an outdoor eating area, a bar area, and seating in the very back. It's very spacious, comfortable, and intimate. The theme of the restaurant is seen all over from the moment you enter, to the music, the menu and the restroom. They paid close attention to detail with decorating. We had an amazing server, delicious drinks (a must try), and ok food. We ordered four drinks the painkilla, vamos à la playa, captains grog, and the Hemingway daiquiri. All were great drinks and we loved how they give you flavor characteristics of the drinks on the menu. The appetizers that we ordered were the sweet and sour cauliflower and the pork dumplings, which is why I gave this place four stars. The presentation of both appetizers were excellent. However, the pork dumplings were disappointing. They came with only six dumplings for $17, were served cold, and are very bland. In my opinion, they weren't worth the price. On the other hand, the sweet and sour cauliflower was our favorite and is definitely a must-try.

The food is good, hearty, tasty, "Montrose Mexican" rather than Mexican, so I suppose Tex Mex, but a little less generic and made with love. The 5 star rating comes from me being supportive, because time and again, I've witnessed the neighbours to the East (the shopping plaza) being extremely un-neighbourly and un-Houstonian, if you will. And in a couple of cases, downright racist. That has no place in our world, in our city, and especially in Rainbowville Montrose, and those people who don't like sharing the urban space we are crammed into, and who don't like those who were born outside the USA and speak Spanish, should go and find a nation to live in that is more in keeping with their views, such as 1930s Germany as an example.

Tacos were flavorful, esp eaten with their homemade spicy salsa and guac and consome. Let me tell you they DID NOT SKIMP ON THE MEAT OR PORTIONS!!!
