One big problem was their poor oversight. The machines were left running much longer than they should've been because no one was regularly checking on them -- adding additional charges and delaying resolution. On top of that, I repeatedly asked to speak with a tech manager to get a clear understanding of what was going on, but I was ignored and kept in the dark instead. So frustrating. It's one thing for a company to maximize its billing when it thinks the insurance might pay, but I kept stating -- repeatedly -- that AAA hadn't yet decided whether it would cover the claim. I wanted to be kept in the loop and approve any additional work. Instead, I was disregarded, and now I'm left with a huge, unexpected bill. Lastly, while their team was in my attic, someone stepped on a high hat, damaging my ceiling. Jonathan, one of ServPro's own techs, openly admitted that their team was responsible -- but instead of owning up to their mistake, the women running their office (especially Alyssia Castro) avoided my calls and tried to be dishonest about what happened. Alyssia even sent me a picture taken after their team was already in the attic and tried to claim it proved the damage was there beforehand. When I asked for a picture with a timestamp (since iPhones do this automatically) to show it was taken before their team's visit instead of after, none was ever provided -- because there isn't one. This kind of dishonesty shows a dramatic lack of integrity. Our 20'x30' den had 1985 reddish brown short pile carpet that was in amazingly good condition for its age -- it was really OLD! Luke asked if we wanted the den to match the original floor in the rest of the house. I said YES! So he ordered part red oak, part yellow oak and part #1, which contains pieces with knots and dark streaks. The job took several days due to the demolition of the old carpet and repairs to the squeaky sub-floor and, of course the installation, sanding, filling, leveling and multiple coats of finish of the new wood. I was good and didn't peek beyond the plastic sheeting that was used to protect the rest of the home from the dust. I waited to look until the first coat of finish went down. I was thinking "I wonder how I am going to 'feel' about this new floor." Wood, for me, is a very evocative substance -- I just love wood. When I looked it didn't feel like a "new" floor. It had the same look and feel of the old 1942 floor. Luke's installer did a marvelous job of mixing and integrating the 3 types of oak together to make a floor that looks like it was installed at the same time as the rest of the floors. We also had the kitchen and bath floors replaced with a vinyl that looks exactly like stone. Everyone that walks on it and thinks it's stone, but it's a very high end vinyl. A good friend has this floor in her home in Virginia. She took a picture of the box for me. Luke worked very hard to find the product because the manufacturer and the license for this product had been sold twice since my friend purchased it! The installation of the kitchen floor matched perfectly with the old floor and the new floor. It is perfectly flat with no transitions between the rooms required! We had a couple of little missteps in the job (like any construction project) but Luke showed up personally and surveyed the problems and had his crew, or he, himself fixed it on the spot. Luke even crawled under the house to run my surround sound cabling and pushed it up into the boxes his installers had sunk into the floor. I couldn't be happier with Luke Hiller and highly recommend him for your next floor refinishing, replacement or new construction project.
