Found this place while staying in Arizona, it did not disappoint! It's a simple process, order, pay, sit down and wait for your food. The coffee is good, it's a self service with almond milk and oatmilk options, regular coffee, decaf, and sirup's. Coffee taste is so much better than where I live ( probably the water quality ), thank you Jesus! The crepes are really good, not spicy, but the sauce is definitely savory! Egg, chicken and cheese inside, the cheese is very flavorful, tastes a little aged French style. Yummy! Comes with an arugula salad on the side, with a slight bitter taste. I love this combination! A few things to know about me before we begin - 1. I've never met a meal I couldn't finish 2. Bottomless coffee is music to my ears 3. The greasier the food, the better. With all that being said, I had a pretty disappointing experience here. Let me say, the staff was friendly and I have no complaints about that. I got the Mexican Benedict and I know chorizo is greasy, but it's almost as if they didn't strain the meat at all, and the grease was pooled on the cakes. I didn't finish because I thought I'd have a belly ache, plus, it was so greasy I didn't want to finish (and pretty expensive at $15+). The coffee tasted very bitter to me and I didn't have more than one cup, breaking my own heart since I love a good bottomless experience. Met up with friends for Sunday brunch and the place picked this time was Vovomeena, this place has been in my bookmarks for years, so I was excited to give them a try. After checking out menu I knew I wanted to try the johnnycakes. They were two corn and chili cakes with a prickly pear maple syrup, and it was paired with sweet rice and herbed potatoes. I don't know about you but one of my favorite combos are a spicy sweet combo and these johnnycakes with syrup hit the spot, although they really are not spicy, more savory. We had planned to take our kids to the Science museum and wanted to try out a breakfast place not too far from where we were going and I came across this place. As soon as I read the menu, I was in! We all ordered different things and shared, and you could taste that every plate was carefully curated to perfection. We started with coffees and fresh squeezed orange juice. Both were fresh and delicious. The coffee was so good, I even ended up buying a bag of the fresh beans they used on our way out. The onto our plates: The Mexican Benedict (absolutely loved the fresh corn based sopes on the bottom topped with the chorizo and perfectly poached eggs and the potatoes were an excellent balance to the dish), The Banana Bread Pudding French Toast (I mean...oh em geee...it was so rich and so good, and the carmel sauce on top was to die for, but happy I ordered less sweet dishes to balance it out too), Biscuits and Gravy (were done perfectly with big pieces of sausage throughout the creamy and flavorful gravy, and topped with the over-easy eggs made them that much better), Johnny Cakes with sweet rice (this isn't a dish I would typically order myself, but it was a nice unique addition to the mix and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them just plain, and also - maybe the best sweet rice I've had - such great flavor), and last but not least, a plain buttermilk pancake for the kids (as a back up mostly, in case they didn't enjoy the other dishes with us, but they loved them all too). I took a bacon and spinach, special omelet, which was lovely if overstuffed. I also had a latte from their barista. Perfect way to wake up. The menu is easily picked up as you walk through the door you order at the cash register, get a number, and have the order delivered to your table. You need to pick up coffee or tea from the barista at the end of the restaurant entrance entrance is from the parking lot on 7th Avenue. It is a fun, intimate place, with some background music, but not dominating a conversation. If you're in town anywhere in your Central Avenue, this place is within easy reach. Go here. I visit the Phoenix area once a month and I have decided to make Vovomeena a regular stop. The ritual is that I come to the spot on my way to the airport to have their savory crepes. It really hits the spot and I crave it. The mood and vibe is very casual with a lot a regulars. The parking is super convenient. You order when you come in and get a number and pick a seat which is more of a fast casual approach but the benefit is they have a self service coffee station which means unlimited coffee. There are still servers running around bring food, clearing plates and refilling the coffee urns so it still feels like more of a sit down type atmosphere but more casual. I can understand wanting to make something that would hold up to the chorizo and poached egg, but it needs to be more than just edible. Hubs went with the biscuits and gravy. First off the potatoes are to die for. Crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly. My omelette was huge and wish it had more filling but tasted great and topped with cheese. Cant go wrong. I really liked the atmosphere of the place but the food was just ok. I got the blackstone scramble and the iced coffee. The coffee was mostly cream I expected more flavor given all the special Japanese cold brew advertising. The breakfast was very heavy and lacking flavor. Several people would try and save tables while someone was in line even after being told not to. It made for a hectic atmosphere. Huevos Rancheros are not a menu staple and were not available when I went. I might return in the future to try one of their dessert breakfasts but otherwise lack luster experience. read more

DaYaM! Now THAT was a tasty breakfast. Portion sizes were Huuuumungous (and tasty). Now. That Mexican Benedict is truly a dish to behold.
