My friends and I came here for the first time on Sunday and let me tell you, this place is sooo good! I ordered the Mexican Benedict which had chorizo and a side of potatoes and it was made perfectly. My friend got the savory crepe which she really liked too and that came with a side of greens. I rarely give a five but for breakfast Vovomeena deserves it. I ordered the pain perdu w/ bacon and added a pork chop. The density of the perdu was a meal in of itself. I was skeptical of the "bread pudding" description. Most places provide some soggy syrupy version. This was a little taste of NOLA. Commander's would be impressed. I had a good experience here. The Mexican Benedict is great! It comes with potatoes. The service was also good. You go in, place the order, pay, get your coffee while the manager gets your table ready, and finally eat. The coffee was also good too. I wish they had bigger portions here. I was visiting my family in Phoenix and we all decided on Vovomeena for breakfast on my last morning there. You line up to order breakfast first and then you are seated. I loved the decor and the relaxed atmosphere. I decided on the Mexican Benedict and the cold brew sampler. The Mexican Benedict was absolutely delicious with the chorizo on top of the sopes and the potatoes were well seasoned and fluffy. Definitely a must try breakfast item of theirs! I can now understand why it is one of their most popular dishes. I loved the idea of a cold brew sampler in order to try the different flavors they offered. All three flavors I tried: the Black and Tan, peppermint mocha, and orange peel ginger were some of the most flavorful cold brews I've had. Yum! My boyfriend and I came here while on a very short trip to Phoenix. We came on a Saturday morning. We expected it to be busier but we only had to wait about 5 minutes to order! We were seated after we ordered, our coffee came up right away and our food was done about 10 minutes later. I had the vanilla pod cold brew and it was divine. The latte was also great. I really wanted to swing back again before my trip was over but unfortunately I was not able to make it. The sausages was good meat. Ordering & Seating can get confusing for newbie : So here is a recap (please click helpful) 1) There is a front (Bigger parking lot) & back entrances (smaller parking lot - you see the coffee barrister & the restroom if you enter thru here - go to front to order.). 2) Don't get a seat , you have to "ORDER FIRST" before you get seated ( The ordering is near the front entrance ) 3) After you order and paid you get a NUMBER. 4) You take that NUMBER and get on another line by the wall across from the coffee barrister This is where the manager will find seats for you. 5) The process seem to be okay as I was able to get at seat 10 mins after I order and paid. 6) After I got seated , I probably got my food in another 8-10 mins. Went after a nightshift with a few colleagues, and I don't think I have been treated so rudely by a restaurant staff member since I moved to Phoenix? I'm not sure if it was because we were wearing scrubs or why, but it was a very unpleasant experience. The host very unwilling to answer our questions or even talk to us. We took all appropriate precautions and requested to sit outside. The food was very good and they definitely have a unique brunch menu. They have a lot of great Mexican and Spanish flavors, not one really traditional dish on the menu which is fun. It's unfortunate that we had such a bad experience with a staff member. read more

We were visiting from Hawaii and found this place through Yelp. We arrived there 40 minutes before closing and it was not crowded. The place is very nice. The menu is simple. You place your order at the serving counter and they bring your food to your table. There is a separate counter where they craft your coffee drink. I ordered the b.m.o.c. and was not disappointed. The pork chop was tender and tasty. It was a first for me to have it with a waffle and it was delicious. Fantastic place for dogs! There is a semi-enclosed outdoor area and the staff happily brought my dog a water dish. This restaurant has a personal take on breakfast standards, my favorite was the eggs benedict served on sopes. Biscuits and gravy were generous and hearty. The portuguese donuts have a daunting amount of sugar on them but it's actually just the right amount to survive a 105° afternoon in Phoenix. Vovomeena has delicious food, and good coffee. Before we had kids I would have given it 4-5 stars. The seating is a little cramped, and I don't love the counter service model, but before kids those negatives were easy to overlook. Since having children (2) it pains me too say that I won't be returning. The counter service model makes it nearly impossible to order. You can't sit down until you've placed your orders, and tables are already slim pickings. The management acts irritated with everything (even before I had kids) but that is super amplified with kids. If your order takes a second, or your kids are antsy (remember they have to wait in line too, because they can't sit down), or you add a juice to the order or anything really the two male managers make you feel like shit. They glare at you, they sigh, they DO NOT offer to make anything easier. The last straw was that my wife took our boys to breakfast on a weekday morning, early. It wasn't busy. She had our 2 year old and was carrying our 7 month old. She ordered, they made her feel bad in the way described above. No one offered to help her carry the 2 orange juices she ordered, so she had to leave them at the counter, find a table and come back for them even though there was no one in line behind her. Then she had to ask where the high chairs were (arms full of infant and hand holding a 2 year old) and the manager pointed to the corner and then watched as she sat our 2 year old at a table alone so that she could carry the high chair with our son still in her arms. Then she had to sit him in the high chair, strap him in and walk back to the counter to get her drinks. Meanwhile they were still no new customers. I just feel like ok, you're a counter service restaurant, but she specifically came a time that wouldn't be busy. Customer service should never be this bad. Also, guess what? Kids are part of the human race and having them shouldn't disqualify you from eating at a breakfast joint. The food is good, but everything else sucks. read more

While traveling to Phoenix I found out not many places near the downtown area are open at 9 AM. After scouring the Yelpiverse I found Vovomeena, and it was open! The inside is really trendy and casual. It's an order at the counter then find your seats kind of place. I went super early before it got busy so we ordered and sat down pretty quickly. I ordered the Blackstone Scramble, my boyfriend ordered the Johnnycakes. While the Blackstone Scramble was very tasty, the Johnnycakes totally stole the show. The corn pancakes were out of this world, and the prickly pear maple syrup was so unique. I kept stealing bites from his plate while also eating my own scramble. I also enjoyed the sweet rice that came with the Johnnycakes, it was basically warm rice pudding. This is a terrific breakfast spot in downtown Phoenix if you want somewhere small and cozy with delicious comfort food (and great coffee!). A lifelong Phoenix resident took me here and swore by it, so I came with an open mind despite a difficult parking situation in the small attached lot. Upon entering you wait in line to place your order and I chose the biscuits and gravy as well as the unlimited hot coffee before taking our seat. The coffee itself was great and worthy of any boutique coffee shop in LA! While I got the unlimited hot coffee (for only $3!) my friend got the cold brew sampler which was a unique experience if you're a cold brew lover! Out of her four cold brews she really liked three of them, so don't go into it planning to love each one but if you want to try new things it's a great option. When our food arrived I was blown away by the biscuits and gravy. As many here have said, they're incredibly rich and indulgent but are the perfect treat if you're craving something heavy on the carbs and cream! The Banana Bread French Toast gave me a mouth orgasm it was soooooo good especially if you like your sweets. The classic egg sandwich was also really good for being a classic it was somehow different in a good way! YOOOOOOOOO! I use to think Snooze was my favorite breakfast pass but we have a new one! I came and ordered the Pawtucket West which is 2 pancakes (or a waffle, same batter), 2 eggs and a meat. I got the turkey sausage and it was the most unique and flavorful turkey sausage I have ever had, no lie! I don't know what brand it is but I need it in Texas because it's not that generic turkey sausage everywhere serves to have a "healthy" sausage option. It's legit! The pancakes... FULLfilling and the batter they use has this sweet honey taste to it where you almost need no syrup overload because that flavor derived from the pancake itself.
