Painful nail experience. I told the nail tech a few times that it hurt. She just kept saying tell me if it hurts. I have gotten my nails done many times and never had it hurt like this. They drill down far too much as they want to get you out quickly. I have painful cuts on my cuticles now. I watched the nail tech take a nail clipper out of a box labeled clean tools, use it on me and then place it back in the same box without cleaning it at all. I hope I don't get an infection. Redeeming quality is they don't charge for using a credit card like everyone else does these days. read more

I will break down the pros and cons of our visit and note that I chose to leave an honest review because the existing reviews and pictures did not align with my experience nor the young ladies whose nails will be featured in this post: Pros - customer service (kind words, offers of considerations on the preference for things like nail shape, color options etc.) Cons - cuts/scrapes (to point of bleeding), full set is not inclusive of manicure(cuticles untreated, natural nails were not cut down preservice), price for end result being subpar ($65-$80 per full set pictured), imperfections in nails (bulges in acrylic/gel) Including pictures that point out the imperfections, but note the majority of the pictures posted before my visit appear to be from one of the nail techs working at the location who did NOT do any of the nails featured in this post. read more

IM OBSESSED!! How have I not known about this place before?? I never ever get my nails done and that too anything special, but with the holidays coming up I went for it. The place is really clean and right next to the outlet malls. They seem to have a LOT of regulars and I definitely understand why. My nail lady's name was Miley, she was funny nice and really smart about nails. I showed her an ombré French nail and she nailed the look (pun intended). It was so good she took some pics for herself lol. I liked this place for the service more than anything, they're really friendly approachable people. There was only 2 employees working but were able to get everyone's nails done. My nails took close to 2 hours. The only thing that kind of threw me was the pricing, it sounded like she was quoting different prices based on your specific nails but I guess that's normal? I got charged $65, and another lady got acrylics hers was $55. What I also liked about my nail tech was that she geared the nails for my SPECIFIC nail bed, she knew the look I wanted but was smart to know if she should file it more or less based on my fingers and size. I liked that. They close at 7 but definitely keep it open for late walk ins. read more

Ok I am now a customer for life. I went to VP nails after trying 2 other salons and having both sets pop off in 2 weeks or less. Jessica did my nails for me and was very pleasant. Feeble I got home I realized my nails on my right hand looked great but my left hand looked flat out awful. The nails weren't rounded in the middle and flat on the sides. They frankly looked like ski jumps. I went in asking to have my left hand redone and explained why. Jesica was very patient and listened and explained that the result wasn't bc of her work but bc of the natural shape of my nail beds. She indicated that I likely had damage to my nails (I used to be a chronic biter so she is right) and that bc of the trauma my nail beds are not flat. She patiently removed the gel polish to show me more closely and explained that longer nails emphasize the ski jump effect and reminded me that she had gently suggested we go shorter than I had asked to begin with. She also reminded me that she had quoted me about 40 minutes for my nails, but actually the time ended up closer to an hour bc she spent a ton of time trying to build up the center of my nails. And even more telling, she explained that the reason my nails kept falling off from previous locations (even though they looked rounded and flat) is bc the nail techs weren't experienced enough to know how to properly do my nails and didn't press the acrylic tips flat allowing for air pockets. She told me my type of nail bed looks best with the shortest possible nails, and that each time I come back she will add less and less acrylic powder until I'm just getting a gel mani to protect my nail growth and prevent breakage (and biting). So she filed both hands down to a length I love, redid the gel polish, and refused a tip. I'm never leaving her. read more

who ever would have thought right near my place would be a nail shop where such talent lays. Mia Lee did such wonders.. She's an amazing nail tech.. I walked in and just let her do her thang.. when my nails were done I looked at them and it was like love at first sight.. lol.. maybe i'm being a little drastic.. no, I'm really not.. I did let her decide what to do for my nails and they came out perfect. the shape.. the color. She is thee best at ombré nails, thee best at shaping nails.. and boy did she take her time..and u know how they say "time is money" ..I been all over looking for someone lik.. I was shopping at the outlet mall across the road and took a chance on this nail salon for a mani/pedi. Having been to several nail salons in Minneapolis/St Paul over the years, I've noticed that in general, the quality of services have decreased in recent years and so my expectations were pretty low. However, the ladies at VP Nails did an amazing job! My non-gel manicure held up without chips for a whole week, something unheard of for me. Several friends commented on how nice they looked and several thought they were gel because the paint held up so nicely. The staff was friendly but not overly chatty so I could read my book and relax. The only downside was the Christmas music station that was on, but that's probably just my personal preference. I would definitely make the detour to Eagan just to return to VP Nails. read more

Terrible. I didn't make an appointment but they did welcome walk-ins. I walked in and the place was dead quiet. Not one customer throughout the whole time I was there .. My nail tech didn't ask me any questions about my nails, what length I wanted, what shape.. etc. and most irritating of it all is that she rushed through it and did a TERRIBLE job. My friend and I walked in on a Sunday afternoon. We were able to sit down by the time we picked our polish colors. $40 for a basic mani and basic pedi is hard to beat and worth it in my opinion! The massages on each, but especially the foot massage, were longer than I thought covered for basic service but fabulous! The massage chairs were great as well. It was a little odd that my manicure started while my toes were being polished. The girl did all trimming and cuticle work while standing, with me still sitting in the pedi chair. Then she moved me to the dying station and applied polish while standing and holding my hand. Lost a star because I was cut on one cuticle and it was pretty awkward. The pedicure was great - super relaxing and the ladies were extremely friendly! They didn't rush and took their time which was great. Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because they did get quite a bit of polish on my fingers and skin around my nails and didn't clean it off at the end. Overall service was great and my nails turned out great, I love the shape and the color, there are only a handful of bubbles in the polish and one nails polish is slightly uneven. When I called in for the cost of a fill I was told $25 although when I got there and she saw I had coffin shaped nails, she told me that costs an additional $10 (I've never been to a nail salon where a different shape costs more, especially $10.) Then I asked for gel powder instead of acrylic and that was an additional $5, although my total came out to $45 not including the tip (not sure where the additional $5 came from) read more

I was able to stroll in here mid-afternoon on December 24th and get my 15.00 basic mani done without much problem They did a flawless job on the paint and it dried rather quickly. The lady doing my nails was pleasant. I did not care for the amount of cutting she did on my nails. I keep my nails very short but i like my cuticles groomed and a nice paint. She seemed to be trying to form a pointy shape and cut way into the side of my nail and that is the first time anybody has done this technique. The price seems to be the same no matter where you go so why not find a place that goes a bit above and beyond does a little extra hand massage --asks before cutting into your nail etc. etc. Still searching for the place that makes me want to return again and again. read more

I never asked her to redo something but last week I went in and she did a design/color that was completely different then what I asked for. She made my nails look like 4th of july- the problem is its February. When I asked her to please fix it for me so it would match my dress for valentines day she refused. Very poor customer service! i made an appointment for 3 of us and as soon as we walked in they were ready for us! they didn't make us hurry up in getting our colors chosen and it was overall an amazing experience. they finished all of us up in about 45 minutes and that was the fastest YET best mani & pedi service i have ever gotten and i've gone to a lot of different places to get my nails done. i paid $45 for a gel mani and a normal pedi which is still pretty cheap considering that gel can be $40 at some places. the facility is very clean and quiet and the workers are very nice, helpful, kind, and caring. they make conversation with you while also doing a very good job. they offer a wide range of services as well. this is most definitely my new mani and pedi place that i will be coming back to every time read more

I was in the area and needed a quick manicure found this salon and had decent reviews, so I waked in, got in right away which was nice..however to say the least this was the worst manicure I've ever had. My cuticles are in worse shape then when I got there and a Sloppy paint job was applied, when I asked the lady to fix it, she was annoyed I would even ask. I was in and out in 20 minutes. The worst part about it about it was that not even 30 minutes after I left the GEL polish on my nails started peeling... Not worth it for me. read more
