I've been a very satisfied and devoted customer of V's for the past 3 yrs since I moved to the neighborhood. I never go anywhere else to get a cut and color. Fabiola is my go to every month. Her and all the rest of the staff do great work, are very professional, and are always so kind, loving, sweet, and friendly. Prices are also very reasonable. In a nutshell: -overpriced -not consistent results When I go to a salon I expect a nice haircut / color. Thats it. I dont care about decorations or the smell of the shampoo, I care about the end result. I have been a client at this salon quite a few times. My first experience was ok, which is why I returned several times. However since my last experience was mediocre, I have decided to write this review, and NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. First of all, STICK WITH VITA. I cannot stress this enough. She is the owner, and the only person that will give you accurate and consistent pricing along with quality hair styling. Every time I have visited this establishment, someone new touches my hair. The first time I went a young girl cut my hair, the layers were shoddy and she didnt check her work. Vita ended up fixing it and I walked out satisfied. Second visit, got my hair highlighted. Fabiola is really great with highlights and color. I really loved her work, however her haircuts are not good. It seems she tries to be fancy, with the shears but she's just awkward. She does not do a good basic haircut. So beware, VITA for haircuts and everything else, FABIOLA for hair color only. They claim hair color is from Italy, whatever! It faded after 2 weeks. Not worth the $100+ price. Here comes my major gripe about this place. Inconsistent pricing and surprise charges. More specifically, the owners mother works at this place and I have noticed that she charges ALOT more than Vita (the owner). I have also noticed that she will tell you one price at the beginning of a service, then later add on more charges at the end, without explaining why. I also experienced her telling Fabiola a higher price than what was quoted. Another problem is the fact that the owner's mother seems to have an endless parade of acquaintances coming into the salon while she is washing or blow drying your hair. She will stop what she is doing to finish her sentence, which can get very annoying after she keeps doing it. Sometimes she will burn your ear or pull a clip out of your hair (ouch!) because she isnt paying full attention to what she is doing. The worst part is at the end she expects to be tipped! Never hand this lady a tip for your stylist because she will assume to split it with the stylist!! Overall, this place is ok. The decor is nice, but doesnt match the service. Stick with Vita. Do not visit this salon if Vita is not there because you WILL BE OVERCHARGED and then CHARGED EVEN MORE!!!! read more

I was a facial virgin. No one had ever steamed, scrubbed or extracted anything from my face before. Admittedly, i was a little nervous about my first time. I gave it up to Monica ...and it was amazing. I'm not exactly sure what she did (i preferred to relax and just be in the moment), but my skin never looked better. Note: I have very sensitive skin--which is why I was hesitant to get a facial in the first place. Miraculously, I didn't break out. My skin simply looked clear and gorgeous. I didn't even wear makeup to work--I just felt that beautiful. And, just so you know: I never say my skin--or anything on me--looks gorgeous. So, this is a first in so many ways. I went to V's yesterday with very long, heavy, shapeless hair (it hadn't been cut in almost a year!). I made my appointment last minute (Sunday morning) and they took me that same day. A woman named Fabiola washed, cut and dried my hair. It looks amazing! I've already received so many compliments!! Also, I had my 4-year-old daughter with me and she played with V's daughter! The stylists didn't mind at all that I had brought my daughter! The salon was beautiful inside and out, very clean, and again, the staff was very pleasant. The price was very reasonable too!! Stay away from this place!!! I was robbed and taken advantage of. Here in NYC the way we do business is to make sure client leaves happy. I came in with my daughter yo do color. I agreed with stylist there to a price for the specific services i requested. I asked for natural blond with highlights, no haircut, just style blow dry. For my daughter i asked for blue ombre technique, hair cut, and style. I showed specific picture of model to give an idea for color and style. Now, where do i start? First, about me. Fabiola did not do highlights as i requested, recommended just one color all over my head. The toner she applied after the bleach was burning my scalp! Then to my shock and disbelieve my hair turned out to be platinum ash blond, not golden natural what I wanted. After my numerous attempts to address the problem, I was shut down. I was told by the owner Vita that my color will change on its own after few washes. So now I have color looking like grey mop and I gotta walk around looking like this?! How embarrassing! Now my daughter problem with hair color. She wanted bright dynamic blue ombre technique with 2 tones of blue. She's natural brunette, so hair needed to be bleached. I said OK. After sitting there from 2:30pm my daughters appointment time, around 7pm I was informed that her hair is too black to bleach enough to get the blue ombre color. So at this point I was so tired and exhausted from sitting there since 10am (for my appointment) I agreed to get just dark purple. After drying her hair color looked like the way she came in!!!! Plus Fabiola put bleach on the top of the head by the roots, even though I specifically asked not to do that, to minimize hair damage. At the checkout Vita had some nerve not only to charge me for this horrible experience but she asked to pay way more!!! For "more work"!!!! We looked worse then before we walked in, now we have damaged hair with disgusting terrible color and have to live with this for a long gone time. I should not have to pay for something I did not get, instead they should've offer resolution, such as next visit on the house or don't charge for wrong job. I got nothing. I have been coloring my hair all my life and never experienced anything like this before. Very disappointing. I was expecting wow factor hair for both of us and instead walked out disappointed dissatisfied aggrevated and very upset! I really wished the could have informed us before bleaching that they don't know how to color black hair. We would go somewhere else. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON TO NOBODY! read more

I am a regular at V's hair lounge and been going there for years. I started there when I was 19 and having health issues and Vita help me and my hair look healthy again. I live the personal touch and feel that they give you every time you at there. This last time there I had tap in extensions put in and it came out amazing. They customer dyed the extensions so that they would look amazing and I can't thank Vita enough. I definitely recommend the salon for everything - hair, nails, eyebrows, etc. read more

After moving to the neighborhood I was looking for someone who can cut curly hair. Having curly hair you become afraid of those who touch it, wondering if they will leave me with a beautiful cut for my curls or a bed of curls looking like a dead cat sitting atop of my head. I called and made an appointment. The woman on the phone was very friendly so I had high hopes. I needed a cut and color so I picked a light brown. They paired me with a hispanic women, probably because I'm hispanic and we have similar hair. She was nice and did a pretty good job on the color. The cut not so much. She advised to only cut about half an inch off because it's not good to keep curly hair so short. That's all fine and dandy but I actually wanted someone to STYLE my hair, cut it in a way so my curls actually look and feel better. Either I wasn't too clear or the mission to get someone to cut my curls properly is still underway. The place does get busy after 1pm and there were a lot of people in there. Everyone was super friendly, offering me food and magazines as I waited under the dryer. The woman who did my blow out and flat iron did a GREAT job. I loved how my hair looked in the end. I did mention to her that I needed my boyfriend's hair cut (straight hair, very thick) and she tried to work her "magic". To me, his hair looked almost the same after the haircut. She cut so little off and didn't really give me any kind of opinion or idea of what to do with it. Again, I think this place just has a problem with cutting hair. Overall I spend about 170 for my "cut", color, and blow dry and my bf's "cut". The experience was nice, but I think I can find another place around that can blow dry and color just as nice for about half of the price. read more

What a lovely surprise! I basically am growing my hair out and was feeling pretty down with all the weight on my face. The girl there (only 20 years old and very talented!) put my hair in such a lovely bob and was very careful not to trim too much off and show me how much she is cutting. Also they carry some hair products I like as well. The value for this place with the lovely interior is a very good value. It's a 20 minute walk to this place, but it's worth it. I will make another appointment soon for highlighting and any of there other specialties soon. read more

I have been going to V's since she opened! This place and all the amazing ladies that work there are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! No one else is allowed near my hair with scissors because Vita & the girls just work their magic. I drive about an hour and a half just to see them. If you've got thick curly hair, Vita is an expert =) Oh, be prepared to almost fall asleep because the shampoo & conditioning treatments are so relaxing =) read more

I have been to this salon a few times prior and have always been meaning to write about my experiences. Although they have all been wonderful, my last experience here was exceptional. I visited this salon a few weeks ago when my boyfriend's brother was getting married. Being that I always wait until the last minute to get things done, getting a mani/pedi, waxing, blowout and makeup all in one day, was no different. I was not sure how I was going to pull this off or better yet if I was even going to get an appointment. I had made a last minute appointment a few days prior. Although they were pretty booked for the weekend, the girl that answered the phone (I believe her name was Haylee) did a great job accommodating me. She was also the one responsible for doing a single process on me about a month prior. ( I had decided to switch it up from a dark brown to a deep red and it turned out wonderful). A woman named Fabiola did my waxing, mani and pedi. I was very happy with the outcome of each! She was very sweet and time efficient. I take notice to the cleanliness of places, especially salons and I was happy to see that she used new wax on all of her clients. The manicure and pedicure stations were also clean and well kept. Lorriane was the lovely woman who did my makeup. Her flawless application and personality work in sync. She's an amazing makeup artist and endearing person, not to mention very patient. I usually do my own makeup, but for special events, parties or a wedding such as this, I preferred to have it professionally done. Last but not least, I received my blowout from a woman named Nella. (talk about a day of pampering!) Lets just say I wish I had her every morning to do my blowouts! She knew I was pressed for time at this point so she was quick but did a fantastic job. Overall, I am very happy with not only my services that I received at this salon, but the way I was treated by each and every person there that day. I was "that girl" who procrastinated in getting ready for a wedding and the staff at V's were the ones who made it ALL come together in the end. Although this place has a nice/classy look to it it was short of a nightmare for me. I just moved to Ridgewood NY n was elated when I found V's Hair Lounge for my eyelash extensions. Let me do u a courtesy. I spent $150 for what felt to b brittle hard n wirey lashes. I took them off in 2 days. Ripping off my own lashes but I didn't care had to get those torturous lashes OFF!!!! I hated them n I have been having them done for 4 years now else where WHERE they look n felt natural n I ONLY use to pay $35. $150 was to buy me a month of wear but I took em off bc I felt like Edward Scissor Eyes!!!!! I should have listened to my cousin who said they were overpriced and you can get the same haircut elsewhere. Fabiola cut WAY more than she should. I specifically asked to be able to put my hair back. She cut a long layer style and I have curly hair. Not only were my "bangs" falling out of the ponytail when my hair was blown out, now that it is curly, my "bangs" are resting around the side of my check (if I tuck the hair behind my ear it continually comes undone.) The only reason I gave her two stars is because she did a nice job blowing it out straight. If I wore my hair straight everyday it would have been a very nice haircut. When she cut the "bangs" I actually gasped and said it was way too short . She spent the remainder of the time telling me that I was wrong and tried to convince me how beautiful my hair was. I tried to explain to her that it was beautiful straight- but as soon as I wash the hair it would be too short. The worst part is this woman has curly hair herself - she should know better! (Unless it's a perm- I don't know.) Bottom line I won't be returning. read more

So I'm rating this salon based on my girlfriends thoughts and basically she LOVED this place! We live down the block from the salon and I went in for the first time on valentines day to get her a gift certificate for mani/ pedi and massage..... My first impression was...... This place is realllly attractive!!! Next... Prices aren't bad at all! Last week my girlfriend decided she wanted to get her hair layered..... We heard Fabiola was good at what she does so we went..... Everyone was soooo friendly and attentive to us! V was super friendly and so was her mom....... I loveeeeeee this hair salon. Vita is a LIFEEEEEE SAVER !!!!!! She came in on her DAY OFF!!!! Just to fixed my hair after a horrible disaster from another hair salon. What owner you know will do that for a client ??? She is beyond honest and kind. She will tell you what she can achieve and what she can not so that your hair won't be ruined or simply because your hair can not obtain that color. She uses amazing products and also educates you on what she's doing to your hair and what she's putting into your hair. The salon is very clean, and well decorated. I love coming here because it's also a very relaxing atmosphere and not chatty like other hair salons. It's really like a lounge for hair !!! Plus they do waxing and nails! Now yes she can be a little pricey but honestly SHES WORTH IT. I rather pay more money to have my hair processed and not become damaged. And it actually be the color I wanted it to be. Plus they offer great coffee. I love this salon I even come for simple blow outs. Went in for a trim & highlights. I have very curly hair and have a hard time finding salons who know how to work with my hair type. Was referred to V's and was told that Vita (the owner) knows how to work with my hair type so I made an appointment. As for the salon, really cute and clean place. Huge mirrors and adorable antique-looking cabinets at each of the 4 stations. Love the bar-turned-reception-desk! Met with Vita who was very friendly, professional and, without a doubt, knows curly hair! Had a dual process done and while waiting for my color to process, I decided to get a mani & pedi. Fabiola was great! She offered tea, coffee and Italian cookies . . . I opted for the coffee and it was a really good cup of coffee. (Who knew a hair salon would have such great coffee). Got the chocolate pedi . . . OMG! It smelled DELISH and my feet felt brand new when she was done! Got a basic mani and I liked the fact that Fabiola took her time and actually used pressure points with the hand massage! As for my hair . . . Vita did a wonderful job with both the cut & color and the products she used smelled great (ended up buying a bottle of the leave-in conditioner she used). Price was moderate in comparison to what I've paid in Manhattan for the same services.
