This station has a triply unfortunate name because (a) it has that slash, (b) "Metro" is an awful name for a metro station, because it sounds like the kind of station rather than the station itself, and (c) one would assume that it's possible to access the airport directly from a station with "Airport" in its name, but one would be incorrect, because in order to reach the airport, one has to take a VTA bus (line 60) from here. Wow, so that name is awful. How about the station itself? It's OK. Like most VTA stations, it feels too small and like it's in the middle of nowhere. Again, a station with the words "Metro" and "Airport" in its name feels like it should be right in the middle of all the urban action, but this station manages to make the surrounding area feel like an industrial wasteland even though most of San José (including its pathetic downtown) is decidedly suburban. I told Dan and Jorge that there would be parking near this station, but they assured me there wouldn't be. Lo and behold, when we came back here and had to get a ride because we hadn't parked, I spied three parking spots on one street within a block of the station. The bigger question is why I continue to allow a resident of Santa Clara and San José, respectively, to tell me, a resident of San Francisco, how difficult parking in a given area is. Jorge has never lived in San Francisco, but Dan has; he should know better. Difficult means there's absolutely no street parking within a mile, maybe a mile-and-a-half. I'm sure I would have been able to find a legal parking spot before we went to the concert.

That's where lots of blue collar workers live. After it's dark, those workers left train at the same time with me. I suggest that you use VTA when it's day time. There's inspector who checked my ticket each day. I liked that. Felt safe when there's authority around. I was stopped to get on VTA at great mall because there's a guy who showed his gun at the station so 10 police cars went there to look for that gun thrown out of the bridge to bush. For a while, I thought I had to call uber to go back to my hotel. It was a Saturday, I was lucky to wait there with 20 other passengers. I would have worried more if I was there with a couple passengers only. It's not a good location to spend a week in area near San Jose airport. I'd rather fly to Oakland next time to use BART. The Alder VTA station is right across the street and it is just 3 stops to Levi's. After the game I did not have to deal with traffic at all, just hopped on the train back. It was packed, but only about a 15 minute ride so no big deal. Only heads up: there are not signs on how to pay. You have to go to vta.org, choose Milpitas Transit Center, and then select Daily Parking. You also have to make an account to pay. There is no worker around, so I am not even sure if they check, but for $3 it is not worth risking a ticket. For the price and convenience, this is hands down the best way to get to Levi's.

Now this line has gone down in quality for awhile. From what I remember sooner I had to wait longer for a bus to arrive. The last time I took it was in 2018 after a Yelp event and it was cool to see the bus faster near the 5 roads neighborhood (Senter, Story, White, King and Tully roads). The bus drivers on this route are really outgoing and will talk with you. They are experienced too. If you live in Willow Glen this bus does a good job of connecting you with the rest if San Jose. Warning: be aware of your surroundings because some parts of the line are tough to ride through as well as wait for a bus at.
