After I went to pick the car up and filled it up with gas, but it shows low fuel. The bottom is after Vu went to fix it again.

**Cost: $$$ **Seating: The waiting area is very small and so there are only four seats. **Location: It's nestled next to a bunch of other auto type workshops and close to several dealerships in Beaverton. **Service: He was pleasant and explained the issue with my car to me. **Experience: I intended to get my car checked out here some time ago based on the high amount of good reviews. Unfortunately, I had to get car towed here after it shutdown in the middle of the highway. I was thrilled that when I called Vu said he could look at it. It took him about 1hr and 15 minutes to look at my car and diagnose it as having an issue with the fuel pump. He also said something was up with my knock sensor after he saw that the check engine light was on and he checked the code. He quoted me at $450 and said he had to order the fuel pump and that it would be there between 2-4 days. This was a Monday btw. On Wednesday at around 3:25pm, he called and said my car was ready. I went to get it on Thursday at 11:00 am. Vu handed me the keys, an invoice, and said there is a one year warranty on the part. He also told me I was very low on gas, so I immediately went to fill up the tank. Something odd I noticed is that the smell of gasoline in my car and the gas pump stopped at 7 gallons when it normally takes ~11 gallons to fill my tank. Then when I turned my car on, I noticed that the low gas light was still on and that the gas meter didn't move even after putting a significant amount in there. I went back to talk to Vu and he went to go check it out. After about an hour he fixed the issue and so far nothing seems to be out of order. Will update in the future if anything happens.

How much does a smog check cost?

    Are they open on Sunday's?

No, I don't think so. Vu has gone out of his way on a holiday weekend to accommodate us.

They took it in and concluded that we needed a new alternator. They replaced the alternator and we picked up the car. On the drive home, the car completely stopped working while I was driving downhill on Burnside. (Everything stopped working: radio, a/c, lights.) I was able to pull into a driveway before everything went out (it happened over the span of about 15 seconds). Even after I pulled into the driveway, I couldn't put the car in park, turn on the emergency brake, turn on hazards, etc. It was a very scary and unsafe position for me to be in. I called the auto shop and they said they couldn't get to me for half an hour, but they gave me a number to call for a towing service they work with. I called the number and the towing company couldn't get to me for an hour. I called back the auto shop and updated them on the situation. Someone from the auto shop came and took over holding down the brake in the car and waiting for the towing service. They then were able to take it back to the shop and they learned that there was a visible crack in the negative port of the battery and that is what was causing the problem. We decided to take the car home and fix the issue ourselves because it was actually a very simple thing to fix and we had lost trust in this auto shop. They did eat the costs of the new alternator and the towing service. But the fact that they didn't realize that the crack in the battery port thing was the problem before they put in a new alternator was very disappointing and if I didn't react faster, it could have put me and others in lots of danger. I will say the service was great. The people I talked to on the phone and at the auto shop were all very sweet and until my car stopped working, I was planning on giving them a 5-star review.

Finding a…read morecar repair shop you can trust when moving to a new city across the country is more stressful than finding a new doctor! I considered going to the Subaru dealer in Beaverton but I gravitated to Brock Automotive because of their stellar, glowing reviews. Glad I did. First, scheduling online is easy and they text you confirmations and reminders. They also respond to texts quickly and efficiently. Note that you will likely need to drop off your vehicle as they are very busy - another good sign! - and though I needed to leave my Subaru overnight, the repairs were done in a reasonable amount of time for the services required. What I also like is their system of 'needs attention, could wait, and doesn't need work' that is color-coded on their estimate sheet by Red, Yellow, and Green; as well the costs for the repairs are clear on that sheet. You can then decide what you want done, approve it, and they will begin the work on your car. My estimate is just what I paid, so zero surprises. Immediately walking in to their shop office, I was greeted cheerily and nicely by Coy--I felt comfortable and relaxed. Picking up my car, I was greeted by an owner, who was equally as cheerful and nice. My car was waiting for me right out front when I exited the office - everything was clean just as I'd left it. Awesome friendly people.
