W Hoboken is a great hotel for anyone visiting New York. It is located 2 blocks from the train station. The hotel rate is much better than getting a hotel in NYC. The rooms here are also a lot more spacious and clean. W Hoboken has a great view. It sits near the river with NYC skyline as its back drop. It is near lot of great bars and restaurants. There are parks and jogging trail along the river. The area is very clean and feels relaxing. The guest service at this hotel are awesome. The path train is about a 5-10 minute walk, so easy access to get to and from the city. Spent all 4 days in NY and would head back to Hoboken for dinner. Juan was very helpful and made us feel right at home lol we got there really early for our check in, but manage to get a different room with a amazing view for just 30$ more that was available, so we can check in super early and put our things away. It was pretty great here. I stayed one night for my birthday last weekend. I requested to be put on a high floor and we got floor 14, the last room at the end of the hallway with a greaaaaaat view. The stay was pretty average, except that I did say when I booked that we would be celebrating a birthday, so I don't know why they put us in an adjoining room. The people next door would knock on the door that connected the room if we got too loud. For what it costs to stay here, it seems a little ridiculous to me that they don't at least have free wifi? Staff was just kind of okay. It's not one of those places where they go above and beyond to make you happy, which I've gotten a lot from hotels that were much less expensive, as well as hotels that were way more expensive than this one. Lobby ambiance was beautiful but will deceive you, rooms do not match what you're paying for. Very bland, and nothing special. No doorman to help with luggage was a hassle in 8 degree weather with kids. Booked a river view room, and received a room that was not River view, the manager did upgrade us to the proper room with no added cost. Bathroom was nice but unfortunately the water pressure is horrible and the toiletries were all half full, assuming they had just been left by previous guests. This was not a big issue as we bring our own toiletries but they should have been restocked properly for new guests. read more

We checked in at the W Hotel, and quickly were given the keys to our room. The room is quite spacious and comfortable. The view from the window was the Hudson river and beautiful city lights, right over the Hoboken pier and waterfront. The bathroom is stocked with bliss spa products. We were able to connect our computer to the TV to watch movies in the evening. The hotel does offer a room service, my life such as an active bar scene, and a low key lobby bar as well. read more

I have never been this wow'd by the service at any hotel before.. not even Kimpton! They really know how to take care of you and even got a free upgrade overlooking the Hudson river upon request! I don't know what to say besides also add on how great the food here (Marriott is a disappointment when it comes to food). I really hope the merger doesn't throw this group into the gutter.. anyways.. I was not feeling well and asked for soup which was not on the normal menu. They not only made a delicious soup for me, but also comped it with the rest of my meal to make sure I felt even better while enjoying it. A real hotel should take care of you when you aren't feeling so well, that is why you pay so much.. you will get what you pay for here! read more

Usually I'm a snob and I only stay in the city... So this was my first time stay in New Jersey and I loved it!! The W Hoboken was amazing.. the staff was so friendly and helpful. The Hotel's hot spot (The Chandelier Room is Beautiful), the Spa, the Sunday Brunch & the Bliss Products were all amazing!! OH and don't forget the Views from my room....So Beautiful!! The Path train was 3 blocks from the hotel, and 2 short stops on the train. Lots of restaurants, shops, and even my bank was within walking distance. I think I could live in Hoboken..Maybe @ the W ;-) I felt like a real New Yorker on the Path, going back and fourth to the city!! The W Hoboken gets 4 stars because the car ride to the airport (lLaGuardia) was $95 but over all it's AMAZING!! read more

Hoboken is a treasure - I don't think I'd ever stay in NYC again. My "commute" into the city was 10 minutes door to door. The W is located just a few blocks from transit. Everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. Awesome Cuban restaurants. I was upgraded to a corner room on the 14th floor where, I guess it's pet friendly. I have dogs so I didn't care - no smells or weird stains. Also, I came on a Monday so there were zero noise issues. My view was breath-taking. OMG. Probably the best view...maybe ever? W Lakeshore and W SF almost pale in comparison. I hate running, but it was so gorgeous that I went around the water & through central Hoboken area. Very flat and easy. The food was also very tasty! Even chicken salad...which is never tasty. As always, service is flawless. One star off for charging for internet - COME ON people, it's 2013. You don't pay the 9.95 per night - for multiple nights, you get a discount...(yay?). Tip: Sometimes, if you want an upgrade, just ask for a room with two beds. I can't understand why the reviews and prices are so high for this hotel when the service is so low. I am a single person business traveler with over 75,000 miles worth of travel this year. Let's start from the beginning. 1. there was no door person to welcome me so I had to fumble with luggage and a very heavy door to enter the establishment. There was only one person working at the front desk on a busy Friday night so I had to wait a little while for the second person to show up and check me in. 2. I went to the in-house Halifax restaurant and seated at a hightop for dinner. It took quite a while to even get a menu or be acknowledged. The food was good but when I asked for my check they gave me a paper bill and no pen to fill the bill out (?) and didn't follow up to see how I would pay. 3. The room is a good size but was definitely a bit run down... nicks and scrapes on the furniture. The bright side was Augustine who was welcoming at the front desk and the view from my room was beautiful. I'm not a person to leave annoyed reviews, but at the price of this hotel I was expecting a lot more. The only thing saving this place is the beautiful view of New York City. I've stayed at a number of W hotels during my travels and I have to say this experience was disappointing. Edit Day 2: today the bell people are working hard. It seems like checking in on a busy Friday night and maybe not enough staff working was part of the issue. So... bumping this up from 2 to 3 stars. This hotel!!!! The VIEW!!!! AMAZING!!!! My room had the most perfect view of the Manhattan skyline. I literally sat on the oversized chair that was in front of the floor to ceiling window and stared out until I fell asleep! Nice lounge/bar in the lobby which was perfect, since it snowed my first night here. No need to go outside. The gym was 24 hours which was a huge plus to me also, since most hotel gyms have a closing time. read more

I never write reviews.. I mean never, you'll see that when you read this, I usually lurk anonymously when figuring out what new restaurant to try or hotel to stay at. I specifically activated this account to write about the W Hoboken. I'm writing this review for a different reason than many of the guests who may have actually stayed at the W. I actually have not stayed in this hotel, but I'm writing to commend the staff there. My fiancé and I had planned a wedding at the W-- it checked off all our boxes; gorgeous view, great space, perfect set up for our NYE wedding. We thought we had a chance to get married the end of this year. COVID is still very much upon us, and as we saw our chances decreasing each passing week bringing us to the decision to cancel our wedding. We decided to have it in my parent's home for the sake of safety. The W was incredibly supportive, specifically Ona; she was so accommodating to my fiancé and I. We are very blessed because the hotel was willing to work with us financially and you often times don't find that in these situations. I've heard horror stories from friends of mine also getting married who'd have to fight with their venues and ultimately lose thousands of dollars, even when we can't control this pandemic. In such a crummy situation, we feel so at ease, and even though we aren't getting married in the way we hoped this year the W's professionalism, understanding, and pose is what will bring us back here to experience the hotel in the way it was intended. The bathrooms could use some work. There was a lot of wear and tear in the showers that weren't very pleasing. Also, there's a really low maximum temperature on the thermostat. This was annoying since I like my rooms warm. Other than that, the room was nice and the lobby and staff were pleasant. read more

Beautiful view yes!! NO room service which should've been posted on their website. The alarm went off in room at 6am. Housekeeping knocked on door at 1030am and when we opened the door they were gone. The check in would've been better if they didn't take 2 deposits out of my account instead of 1. I've seen this W from afar. Yes, standing on the Manhattan side of the river, the W Hotel in Hoboken looms large and sleek. And yet, I'd always ask myself how they filled their many rooms and whether or not a stray NYC tourist would be able to find their way to its nearby shores. Or is there a secret charm to eastern NJ that I've yet to explore. Well, I imagine that both are true... rooms at this W fill with NYC tourists discovering a loophole in the jacked up Manhattan hotel rates (no Holiday Inn in the world should cost $500/night) and visitors to the alluring tree-lined streets of Hoboken and Jersey City settle here for a stay. Well, let's be honest, it's probably more of the former. Either way, it's an off-the-beaten path hospitality treat that's an easy Path ride or ferry float across the river from the big NYC. Boasting all the typical amenities of its brand, this W also features a generous buffet brunch ad several bar/lounge options. The decor is modern lounge chic, with small details that make it unique. The upstairs Chandelier Room also features a pleasant outdoor lounge area in the warm months that looks out over the epic Manhattan skyline. You'll find very competitive rates for a high level of comfort and service here. I'd certainly recommend it to my friends and family attempting to visit NYC. Had a great 2-night stay here. We did valet parking upon arrival, which is $35 per 24 hours and you get in-out privileges as well. The hotel is modern and clean, with friendly staff. We had a king room on the top floor with a huge window and views of Hoboken (not the river side). The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but clean, and the shower was nice. We had room service for dinner the first night, pretty late, and we were still able to get decent food, albeit expensive (to be expected for room service). It's in a great location, walkable to everything in Hoboken - shopping, restaurants, parks, etc. It's also very close to the Path to get into NYC. We didn't experience any issues during our visit and I'd highly recommend staying here. read more

I only give them 2 stars because I stayed her twice before with no problems, probably because we only stayed bc we drank too much at the Chandelier Room so I would have slept anywhere. I stayed at the W Hoboken last night with my mother, grandmother and sister because my sister's bridal shower was in Hoboken today. We were put on the 3rd floor, when we asked if they had a higher floor the lady told us the hotel was sold out. At 11:30 we went back to the room to go to sleep. As we layed down we all realized that we can hear EVERYTHING from the club below us. we literally could identify EVERY song they were playing. We called to complain and the manager told us he would tell the club to turn it down, I'm sure they really did that! There was NO sleeping with all the noise. We called back the manager to tell him this is ridiculous, he offered to let us move rooms-which wouldn't be easy now that it was 1:00 am and we were with my grandmother. He also offered us EAR PLUGS, so we paid $220 for a room that we needed earplugs. Finally at 2:30, the club closed and we got to sleep. The next morning my mother went to get coffee and told the manager how ridiculous it was that they even let people stay in the room we were in. They offered us free breakfast, which was the most DISGUSTING food I have ever eaten. $75 for 3 orders of pancakes and an omelet. It was un-edible. NEVER again. I understand it's not the managers fault and they did offer to let us change rooms, but the fact that they rent a room out that is that close to the club is insane. The food is horrible, I had 2 bad experiences at Zylo and swore that place off now I guess ever staying at the hotel isn't an option any more either. read more

I had a feeling that the one time I was going to stay at this hotel would be better than what I received at the Westin Jersey City. Also, this is partly because the W is my favorite hotel property. Now, I've been going back and forth to Jersey City for work for the past 4 months and I opted that the Westin would be better because I would be able to walk to it and their prices were more favorable. It so happened that the Seahawks came and rented out the hotel for the last night I was supposed to be there so I decided to stay at the W. I knew I should've stayed here. First the drive from JC to Hoboken is all of 10 minutes and more importantly during this time it was much quieter as everyone is in JC for the Superbowl. It didn't look like much from the way I came but as soon as I opened up the door I knew it was amazing as a W always is. Someone took my bags for me and I received a Platinum upgrade. I also noticed that they have residences there as well...must be nice. I ended up getting the corner suite not that high up but still decent views of the city. Basically the main professional photo of TA is the exactly the room I got. Everything was modern, clean, and made me feel much more at home than the suites at the Westin as it was more to my taste. There's a separate living room and a small dining room table along with a balcony that I certainly did NOT go on as it was....0 degrees outside at the time. There were 2 bathrooms and the main shower was fantastic. I ordered room service and it was as quick as expected. The food was good and it was actually much more than I had expected and I shouldn't have had that dessert... Great stay and I thought the value for the money was quite good. Would certainly recommend the W Hoboken over the Westin JC. Room Tip: Corner suites are the way to go. The 10's should get you those corners...710, 810..etc. read more

I really like this W. As a SPG member, I have stayed at almost every W and this one is easily top three. The decor, ambiance and view are great. Location is pretty good, Hoboken is deff a place where a W Hotel should be and it's close to the Path train if you want to venture into the city. This hotel is really nice and clean. Room service isn't great though. I received only one condiment when I specifically asked for three more than twice when making my order. I even offered to pay extra. Plus my cup was filthy! You see, I do this thing - this thing that everybody hates and nobody can explain - this thing where I lose absolutely all of my belongings when I go out and start drinking. No lie, it really never fails. One night, when I was thrown out of the hotel bar while at a wedding after party (yep, that happened), I left without anything that I came with. My clutch was gone and my phone was gone. My clutch contained my ID, all my credit cards and debit cards, $400 cash, Burberry sunglasses, my friend's camera, and my favorite lip gloss. When I say everything, I MEAN EVERYTHING was in that purse. I called W Hoboken the next morning with my fingers, toes, tongue, and eyes crossed. Sure enough, they had found it lying around and realized the owner wasn't coming back for it that night. I went to pick it up the next morning and EVERYTHING was in there as they were. I was so relieved that I almost asked the security guy if he wanted to pick something out of my purse to keep. We stayed there a month ago for my Birthday. We had a suite that has a filthy couch (i put a sheet on bed b4 i let anyone sit down). The hallways are dingy and dated. Service sub par. I wasn't going to review until I just walked into Halifax (the restaurant) to have a late lunch and the hosted was fine but everyone else completely ignored me. I had not QR or menu. Since our place wasn't quite ready for us to move in, we thought a couple of nights in a hotel might be a good idea. I must say that our stay was most pleasant and ranks right up there as one of the best Starwood experiences I have had. Being a Platinum guest, I have stayed at several Starwood hotels, including the W at many different locations. The W Hoboken definitely stands out in my mind. The staff at the front desk (Anthony and Mike in the evenings, and I forget the name of the young lady who mans the desk in the morning) were very courteous, attentive and eager to help any way they could. We were upgraded to the Wow Suite on the 16th floor (room 1608).. easily the best view I have gotten from a Wow Suite! We really appreciate the upgrade. The only hiccup (If I may call it that) was that the wait staff at Zylo weren't really sure about what the complimentary breakfast coupon included, and billed us for our breakfast. When I spoke to the young lady at the front desk, she took care of it promptly. In the evening, Mike was quick to reassure me that the wait staff would be better informed going forward, which was the case this morning. This hotel is amazing. Like all W's the bedding, rooms and room service is top notch. The downstairs bar is very relaxing and has a very laid back vibe, where upstairs at the Chandelier Room it is an all night party. The only downfall at this hotel is their Concierge by the name of Tykira. Not only was she condescending in her tone and engagement with myself, and 3 other guests, whe was like this in person. When asked a simple question about the new Wine Shop open directly across the street she proceeded to tell me that it was still under construction when it clearly had a GRAND OPENING DATE OF APRIL 6th. When did I ask her about this Wine Shop? Saturday April 6th. This wine shop is directly located across from the W and when I asked her about it, she gave me the third degree saying I need to be more specific since there are 100 liquor stores in the area. As a concierege, isn't it your job not to give your guests the third degree and act like they are idiots, shouldn't you be making each guest feel at home and welcomed? I am a New Yorker, staying at this hotel for 2 nights while my Mother was in town. That was the last place and the last person, I thought would give me an attitude. Staying at this hotel was the highlight of my trip to NY. It's the perfect distance away to still feel in the city, but without giving up the little things. For example, I found that it was quiet at night, the streets were extremely clean, the people very helpful and nice. The hotel is within walking distance to just about anything you really need, local coffee shops (and Starbucks), restaurants, liquor store, park, and most importantly the PATH which can take you to the city in about 20 minutes, super convenient. Valet experience was great, I left a bag in the car on the first night and they brought it up to my room! The room itself was beautiful, the view was breathtaking!! Truly amazing to wake up to the sunrise coming over the Manhattan skyline. The gym at this hotel is one of the best I have been to in a long time. It has top of the line treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals with water facing views as well as ample machines to get a full body workout in. The best part for me was the speed bag and punching bag, you never see those in hotel gyms! So I made sure to get a great workout in. Employees at the W go above and beyond to make sure that you feel taken care of, something I never take for granted. From here on out every time I want to visit NY I will be staying here. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the W in Hoboken on their first birthday, which also happened to be my 5th anniversary (yay marriage!) On our last visit to NYC we strolled the High Line and spotted it from the Manhattan side, and instantly knew they would have awesome views. So when we had a chance to return it was our first choice. We typically stay at the W on Lexington, so we're used to the vibe, and this one didn't disappoint. Even better, the rooms were MUCH larger than most NY hotels offer, and the commute on the PATH was really easy. Food and drinks were not cheap, but what do you expect for a hotel this close to NY with views of Manhattan? However service across the board was awesome. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that we were booked in a smoking room after requesting nonsmoking, and despite me stopping by the front desk to ask for some additional aromatic intervention, nothing happened, and since the hotel was sold out we couldn't move. Not the end of the world for me, but for someone with asthma or other issues it could be a problem. That said, I will definitely return and make sure I'm in more fresh air quarters--I'm sure it will be great! read more

I ventured from the land of Manhattan to Hoboken for a birthday party and didn't have a terrible time, but it wasn't spectacular either. Let's get down to the nitty gritty of this joint. It's Hoboken. The land of the dbags. This is where future Housewives of New Jersey come to meet their popped collar, bronzed hubbies. I must say, the W is pretty much like every other W I've been to on the planet. The design is very hip and I feel it's a little out of place for Hoboken, but every city needs a swanky place I suppose. This seems like the "big night out" place for gaggles of people in the Garden State. Everyone is super dressed up and partying like rock stars, oddly enough. The party I went to was upstairs in the outdoor lounge. It was a little more chill there, but you could still hear the top 40 music bumping from the next room, so people were still dancing. Also, there were pretty nice views of the NYC skyline, but they were kind of obstructed by trees.. so it wasn't quite perfect. Drinks were overpriced (duh) but strong. My bill was $80, but I wasn't expecting anything less to be perfectly frank. I'm giving this place 3 stars, because it was OK.. if you're into that sort of thing. Also, I died for the bartender outside - she was a cute blonde and I loved her haircut and she had a dynamite personality. So kudos on that hire, W. When I got off the PATH I debated kissing the Manhattan soil, but then I saw a bum peeing on it and decided against it. Would I go back? Probably not. A true ambassador to what the W brand really is, the W Hoboken is a jewel and often has rates that will save you some dough when in NYC. I highly recommend staying here if you're ok with taking a quick train under the river. I don't know what I did to get so lucky... Wait, I do know! I used one of my handy-dandy Suite Night Awards and got upgraded to the --- wait for it -- Extreme WOW. Neither Extreme, nor WOW, even in combination, do this 17th floor paradise justice. Never before have I experience such refined luxury and exceptional, classy taste. Two huge bedrooms, two and a half baths, two balconies, sweeting views, sound system throughout the suite. WOW. Wow, y'all, WOW! Based on the style of this room, I'd guess all the rest of great, too. The Living Room here is a step up from most Ws. The restaurant is great, room service is fast. Whatever/Whenever is reliable. PATH train is about a 5-8 minute walk from the hotel. Takes you to a few places in Manhattan. Fri and Sat night turn into a bit of a Jersey Shore in-real-life club night....but you can get away from that it you want. read more

The hotel is typical of W hotels with contemporary rooms filled with all necessary sundries a traveler would need - even things you might not need but are happy to have! The rooms are gorgeous with wall to ceiling windows looking towards Manhattan. The view is outstanding at night. Never met a W that I didn't like, but this one was the same price as a tiny-room hotel in Chelsea and the PATH station 3 blocks away gets you to Manhattan in 15 minutes (and only costs $1.75). There's no reason to pay more and stay in the City when the view of the Hudson & City from the W rooms are gorgeous. Most views from Manhattan hotels consist of looking at the office building across the way. Service was fast and efficient. When one of the featherbeds smelled like soured milk, housekeeping was at our room within 10 minutes to remake the bed and the maid was SO nice. We had another featherbed problem whereby a piece of wire was sticking out and housekeeping also took care of it quickly. I booked a room at this hotel on hotels.com and pre-paid $450. The day I was due to arrive, my flight to JFK was delayed, so I called the hotel to tell them that I was going to arrive but that I would be late. They assured me my room was ready and waiting for me. When I arrived, I was told that the hotel was overbooked and there was no room for me. It was after midnight. I was in a strange city. I had to get to another hotel...... I was very annoyed that the W didn't honor my reservation, even though I had already pre-paid for my room. I wrote to the hotel manager the next day to complain. This is a review for the Chandalier Room. I rolled into this place around 830 which is really too early, but whatever I had nothing to do. The main thing with this bar is that it pretends to be in nyc. They have bouncers outside at 830 with clipboards and headsets. They waved me in, but it was awkward. Inside there were only two groups of people. Most people are balling in there. I saw several girls that you wouldn't bring home to mom and balding dudes with sportcoats. There was a maserati parked outside. I really have no problem with any of this as everyone is cool. My main gripe is the drink prices. An amstel light is $9. Glass of wine will run $10. some dude next to me ordered three drinks and the bill was over $40. I can't believe the bartender can ask for the money while keeping a straight face. You can easily get on the path, go to nyc, and go to much better places for the money. On the plus side, there was no cover charge. Update: Subtracted one star for being told that we could only get in with bottle service. As though paying $9 for a beer was not enough. read more

I've been to the W Hoboken twice and it never seems to disappoint. My first visit was for Sunday brunch. The room was illuminated and offered an impressive view of the NY skyline. The food was delicious and the service was great. We opted out of the buffet as it was towards the end of the brunch and the spread was looking a little long in the tooth. There is a really fun and young crowd which makes it interesting. I would definitely come back again for brunch. My second visit was for a cocktail hour event and it did not disappoint! There were appetizers and wonderful wines flowing. The service was fantastic, the venue was chic and urban, and the music was great. The bustling atmosphere and comfy couches set the mood. We then headed up to the Chandelier lounge which had a fantastic outdoor area. Again, there were comfy couches coupled with a spectacular view. This hotel has it all as far as cuisine, location, and night life are concerned. It is definitely one of the chicest spots in Hoboken. read more
